indierich06 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We need to keep Pearson. Been telling myself this ever since the Man United match and I was convinced we could turn it around. But I asked myself the same question after today's game and the only answer I could think of is 'why?'. I absolutely love the bloke, but we look absolutely incapable of turning this around at the minute, and things are only going to get harder.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We were quite unlucky today at times imo. That said, there were some poor individual performances. Wasyl had his worst game so far this season for me; his lack of pace really showed, especially for their second goal. Some of the deliveries from Matty James were really poor and I don't really know why he is first in line to take our set pieces. Sometimes nobody gets a chance to even challenge for a ball in the air because he has ballooned it behind the goal or hit the first man. Schlupp was so frustrating. He is used to being faster than most players but he needs to accept that in the premiership he isn't quicker than all of them. Even when the winger or fullback he is trying to beat has demonstrated several times that they can keep up with him, he carries on smashing it into space and trying to do a Bale on them even though he knows they'll match his pace. He then just loses the ball or fouls them. Another standard row ZZ attempt from him as well. Cambiasso is quality but honestly I think he is being held back by the players he is forced to share a pitch with. He is so obviously on a different wavelength most of the time. Konch being sent off was an embarrassing decision. Kasper had a fantastic game imo and couldn't have done anything about the goals. I know there will still be some clueless divs on here who will blame Kasper for everything again, but he made some quality saves and his life was made very difficult by the defensive displays of the ten players in front of him.
Kitchandro Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Plenty of fight but just not good enough. Cambiasso is a million miles ahead of anyone in our squad. Moore missed his chance. He made Wes Morgan look half decent. Another wank referee though. We're being let down by a lack of quality. Does changing the manager change that? Probably not, but it might change the tactics and basic lack of defending which are costing us so dear. Let's be honest, we were never this poor last season (maybe against Brighton). The question is why are we performing so much worse than last season? Just perform to that level for 38 games and we'd be ok. Being bottom of the league with this squad is still unacceptable, and I'm someone who agreed even in August that we hadn't strengthened as much as I would have liked.
Blue Ed Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Absolute joke....No energy. defensive not thinking...why are we playing 2 up front. why is Marhez on the pitch when what we need is defensive cover and people tracking back. Where is Knocky..... Park the bus make it difficult they cut through us time and time again and the only who looked interested in was cambiasso. We need a right sided midfield who can track back and stick the boot in stop the crosses coming across and break up play. Hammond has to come back next game. James, and Schlupp are out of there depth at this level. Jesus......
Webbo Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 well sorry to strike a discordant note but from the comfort of my armchair with a bottle of rather agreeable claret I watched a Leicester side ( despite playing against 12) give pretty much everything and even down to 10 and as the away side made Villa look the ordinary lack lustre outfit they have been pretty much ever since I have started following football. The expected predictable knee jerk "sack pearson " response is inevitable but embarrassing . Watch the replay when you're sober.
Tuna Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 No doubt there will be hundreds of people on here now demanding Pearson to be sacked......there is no outstanding candidate to replace him. I'm not suggesting we aren't dire at the moment, we are, but this is the man who took us up as champions just a few months ago. He has to be given time to sort it out. :xmasunsure: Please, no more of this 'we can't sack pearson, who will replace him' bullshit.
JordanA24 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Sack the person who picked the defence Frankly we don't have a single defender capable of playing in the Premier League, every one of them up to and including Morgan has been found out. Keep the faith in Pearson and let him spend big on 2 or 3 new defenders in January. A couple of other signings in centre mid and up front wouldn't go amiss either. I frankly can't think of a manager who's out of a job who's better than Pearson atm, except maybe Pulis, and he's a risk.
benpicko Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 **** off and die you miserable *****. You're still positive I take it? Bordering on the delusional. Incapable of admitting we have issues and not even attempting to explain your stances.
The Doctor Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Refs performance was seppuku worthy, guy was clearly bought out for this match
FLINTHAMFC Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Why do people keep pointing out Mahrez as one of the better players? other than the run and shot that set up ulloa he did nothing. He is light weight and constantly gives the ball away. The one or two good moments he has in a match is just not enough. Schlupp is equally as wasteful in possession.
Spicer Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 January is going to be key. We will go down atm.

Completely agree...I don't disagree that he's not a good creative player...but what we need at the moment is someone who can track back and give cover to our right back. we can't afford a player on the pitch who can only turn it on a couple of times a game.
Sunbury Fox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Can't see why we did not play a third midfielder. We just have no control in midfield and are unable to build play through that area. It also means that we leave too much time and space for the opposition.Villa typically get 30-40% possession and yet today they had double that with Kieran Richardson in their midfield! Says it all about our lack of quality.
ousefox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Team is just not good enough. Defending is embarrassing. Set pieces are embarrassing attacking and defending. Hard to believe we can stay up which I never thought I'd say at the start of the season. Don't think I can bare another season in the Championship! Not enough players have made the step up. Nugent was decent, Kasper was class, Mahrez did his usual one good thing a game worth keeping him in the team for. Albrighton can't take on a man for shit. The red card was absolutely disgusting too.
ScouseFox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 kasper trying really hard not to say "****ing hell liam moore just ignored his man that's why we conceded" in this interview.
surrifox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Watch the replay when you're sober. what are you disputing that we didn't give our all or that Villa are bang ordinary?- you're wrong on both counts
hejammy Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Drinkwater needs to get back into the team, don't know why James plays ahead of him, he needs a good run in the team, cambiasso and Drinkwater on paper have to be our best midfield partnership. I feel Nugent doesn't deserve any more chances now, he never will be a premiership player, Wood looked OK. Moore was very very poor today as was Schlupp especially defending. schmeichel kept us in the game but he really needs to learn to command his area better to fulfil his potential. Konchesky is and always has been a liability. Simpson did OK and deserves to stay in the team ahead of RDL The only hope we have of surviving is buying a decent striker and a central defender. Possibly a left back as I'm not convinced of the 2 we have. We don't do this and it's relegation most likely
Mark Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Back when most on here thought we were the dog's bollocks. Righto. That's their fault then, we clearly needed to strengthen certain areas and didnt.
Foxey id Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Kasper saying we need to get back to why we were playing well last season, the reason were we were in the championship, so he will soon have his wish
the messenger Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Dogs!it post. What's up kiddo can't stand the truth, wot a wan!er.
ScouseFox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 what a ****ing dumb as shit question at the end of that interview jesus christ i'm surprised kasper didn't just spit at him
Guest ttfn Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Having always said "keep Pearson even if we go down" I was at least envisaging that in the event that we did go down it wouldn't effectively be signed and sealed by 1 January. Having serious reservations about him as manager now. 10 without a win is totally embarrassing with any run of fixtures, but every side in that run has either been average (Palace), poor (Burnley, QPR, West Brom, Villa, Sunderland) or out of form (Swansea, Liverpool and Newcastle)except Southampton.
jmono84 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 I want to give him time to sort it out...But what's he doing different? Nothing... Formation.does.not.work!!
filbertway Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Thought Wood had nicked us a point towards the end there.
