Gazza M Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I am swaying towards the need for more of a solid look. I think we have been found out defensively by reverting to 4-4-2. I would go back to 4-5-1 with our quickest players wide with Ulloa up front if fit. I think Hammond coming in to get the tackles in may help us out and then giving it to the others. Kasper, Simpson, Morgan, Moore, Konchesky, Hammond, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, Marhez, Schlupp, Ulloa. Subs: Hamer, Waz, James, Albrighton, King, Vardy, Nugent.

Mark_w Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 4-6-0 Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Wasyl Schlupp RDL Drinkwater King Cambiasso Hammomd Mahrez Risky decision not to play a sweeper. Think we might be better off with a cautious formation.
Benji Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Pack the midfield and play ugly. Enough of this "let's give it a real go". Time to win some points the "unpleasant" way.
AKCJ Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Come on Harry. Optimism is great but what do you expect from fans really when we're in this run of form. Youd be pretty silly to think we've got a genuine chance, really. Do I have to remind you that this is Premier League football? Anything can happen and this pathetic doom and gloom is not helping anybody. Get behind the team, we're certainly not going to turn this form around with miserable "fans" like yourself.
cc_star Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Pack the midfield and play ugly. Enough of this "let's give it a real go". Time to win some points the "unpleasant" way. This is the way Unfortunately NPs faith in this group of players and his desire not to make this difficult to opposition will mean it'll be 442 (maybe 4411 with Nugent dropping deep at best) and the inevitable siege on our goal However Arsenal (H) was like that and we grabbed a draw and could have nicked all three points
Harry - LCFC Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 With the vast majority within the knowledge we'll probably lose. That doesn't contradict what I said.
Sunbury Fox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Seriously think we now have no choice but to give ourselves greater protection by adopting a 4-2-3-1 formation. For the City game, I would bring back RDL if he is fit; still think he is a better player than Simpson. I would play Schlupp at left back even if Konch has his red card rescinded; Schlupp looks better there than on the wing and his pace is useful at the back given that Was and Wes are hardly the quickest. Konch offers zero going forward. Wes has to come back in for Moore, who had a stinker v Villa. Midfield is the problem area as we don’t really have a player to play a more advanced playmaker role. I guess Nige’s thinking was that Powell would become that player but it has clearly not worked out. Given that, I think we need to go for Cambi and DD sitting in front of the back four, with King in a more advanced role supporting Ulloa up front but dropping back to support the other 2 when needed. I rate Matty James but after yesterday I think he needs a rest and should be replaced by DD, who is a better passer of the ball and looked good in tandem with Cambi at Stoke. See others are suggesting Cambi plays more advanced but he's never played that role in a 20 year career so far as I know. I would go with Albrington on the right and Mahrez on the left (where he plays for Algeria) to provide width and support for Ulloa. I did wonder about trying Mahrez in the playmaker role, as he might get more of the ball there. But I fear that he would be too lightweight and it would be throwing him into an unfamiliar role at a time when that is the last thing the players need, given their low confidence at the minute. Pains me to say it but Vardy has to be dropped. He is offering nothing and playing 2 strikers leaves us so vulnerable, even against the likes of Villa and QPR. So my team would be: Kasper; RDL, Wes, Was, Schlupp; DD, Cambi; Albrighton, King, Mahrez; Ulloa.
Adster Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Do I have to remind you that this is Premier League football? Anything can happen and this pathetic doom and gloom is not helping anybody. Get behind the team, we're certainly not going to turn this form around with miserable "fans" like yourself. . Because I'm realistic it makes me a miserable fan? Makes real sense that. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see us get something from this game. I'll be cheering the lads on like I always am. Just because I think we'll lose doesn't mean I'm contributing to degrading the teams performance. I'm not one of them fans that boo after the final whistle nor am I wanting Nigel to be given the sack. Calm down.
cc_star Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Just one striker and a link man/ number 10 is the way forward. We dont have a number 10. We may have, Mahrez could excel there freed from the shackles of having to track back, even Knockaert may be useful. Nugent's played there in the past when we've needed someone to put a shift in on a deep lying midfielder who pulls the opposition strings
Mark_w Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Play 4-4-2 and start attacking sides Nigel you idiot. Two Weeks Later... Stop playing 4-4-2, pack the midfield, we're too open, ARGH MAN CITY! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! I love this forum.

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! I love this forum. Can only speak for myself but... or maybe attack Crystal Palace, Burnley, Newcastle (who were on a shit run), Swansea and WBA and keep it tight against Man City away from home on a 10 game bad run. Play the situation.

This happens pretty regularly.
dorsetboy Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 been saying all along we need an extra cb and extra in midfield to me 3-4-1-2 is the way to go ----------------------------------------kasper------------------------------- ---------------moore---------------wes--------------was------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -de laet--------------cambiasso--------james--------------schlupp--- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------king/mahrez------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------ulloa/nugent---------------------vardy/wood----------- playing this way i just feel that delaet and schlupp have enough pace to go back to defence to make it 5 or help out in midfield to make it 5 or bomb down the wings this would help out cambiasso and james who can hold the middle with mahrez using his skills and passing to thread balls to the front men just feel it gives us ingame options depending on how the score is

jmono84 Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I just hope Pearson shows he has something other than this failed 442 system. We need to start showing we can the keep the ball and with extra men in midfield should help. We have a class player in Ulloa up front who can link up the midfield on his own. At least we will get to see Schluup at LB where I hope he will play well and make the position his own. We need better quality people playing in more advanced roles. My team would be 4-2-3-1 Kasper Simpson Wes Was Schluup Cambiasso Drinkwater Mahrez King Knockaert Ulloa
RowlattsFox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I know their better than us but Southampton are playing the same formation we have been playing tonight.
I blame Wellens Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I know their better than us but Southampton are playing the same formation we have been playing tonight. Thank you this made me chuckle :-)
RowlattsFox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I know their better than us but Southampton are playing the same formation we have been playing tonight. Turns out they're not. The pre match graphic I seen had long playing behind pelle with tadic and mane on the wing. But Tadic is playing centrally with long out wide.
