Larry_LCFC Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 The point is with Man City, they WILL punish any defensive mistake that we make. There is a good chance that the type of cock up we've got away with in the past five games will end up in the back of the net on Saturday. They will be clinical. Only slight reprieve is Aguero being injured.
davieG Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Meanwhile, Leonardo Ulloa has shrugged off a knock that caused him to be substituted at half-time in the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday. Pearson added: “He’s okay. As I said last week, it was heavy contact but he’s fine. We’ll have a pretty fit squad. Dean Hammond will be back in contention which is good as well. “Matt Upson will probably need a bit longer for him to come through a couple of games. It would be nice to have his experience available. The welfare of the players is important. We want him to stay available. “We’ve had similar situations before where, when players get very close to being available, it can be dangerous to expose them to that next step. It’s difficult to be patient in times like this but it’s still important to do things the right way. “Hopefully when he is available for the first team to be selected he’ll make an important impact for us. I won’t consider him for this weekend.” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/schmeichel-sidelined-by-training-injury-2137960.aspx#HlFiy6PRL7HFdiJ2.99
Clever Fox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 I think our only chance is to take the game to them and hope they take us lightly. I'd play Simpson with Delaet in front of him to watch Milner and Nasri. Our lack of pace at the back will be a problem as Man city like to keep moving positions. I also think this could be a good time to use King for his all round game. The bookies will make a fortune if we can pull off any kind of a result.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 I get the feeling we wont lose, don't know why, yes they will be on a high, but that can be draining in itself. We will have been written off totally, change of goalie, no win in 10. All points to a Leicester win! That's what we do!
Tpw123 Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I think this is the team we need to play at the weekend. Hamer De laet Wasilewski Morgan Konchesky Albrighton James Cambiasso Mahrez Nugent Ulloa Obviously Hamer will be in goal as there are no real other options. However I would have liked to see Kasper play against his old side as he looked in good form in the villa match and was probably our man of the match. In defence I would play de laet as although I often think sides are more successful down this side when they play us against Liverpool I thought he dealt very well with sterling and other matches before that eg Sunderland I felt his performances had improved from earlier on in the season. Also I didn't think Danny Simpson played well enough against villa to take de laet's starting position from him in the team. I would play wasilewski and Morgan at centre back as I think they are the only two realistic options. This is because upson is still not fully fit and Moore is in dreadful form at the moment. However both Morgan and wasilewski need to step up and play better than they have done in recent weeks otherwise we may receive our first thrashing of the season. At left back I would play Konchesky as although going forward he is very poor I think defensively he has been our best player this season, not once this season have the other team been very successful going down that side and that is because of konchesky's excellent defending. I think he is very underrated. On the right wing I would play as albrighton as I would like to see albrighton on the pitch at the same time as Ulloa whilst leicester are playing the 4-4-2 formation because albrighton will produce a lot of quality crosses for Ulloa to attack. They have only been on the pitch together once to my knowledge this season ( whilst playing 4-4-2) in the last ten minutes against Liverpool when we actually played quite well. I would definitely play Cambiasso in centre mid as in recent games he has been our best outfield player however the other centre mid is the most difficult place to pick in the whole team. It is between James and Hammond. I have picked James because I think him and cambiasso are beginning to develop a partnership in midfield. However the positives of playing Hammond would be he offers us mores defensive cover. Then on the left wing I would play Mahrez. First of all because albrighton needs to play on the right wing because of his crossing ability with his right foot and secondly because this is where he has played for Algeria so successfully. Up front I would play Ulloa as I think he is the player who looks most like scoring if he has the opportunity and with albrighton and Mahrez on the other wing hopefully he will get an opportunity and take it. I would also play nugent because Ulloa seems to play better with nugent and after his good performance against villa he deserves to take vardys place as vardys been playing poorly in the past few matches and I personally don't think he has the attributes to make it in the premier league unless he improves his ball skill. Finally I hope they le to albrighton take the set pieces and not James because recently we have not looked like scoring from set pieces because the delivery has not been good enough.
Dickov22 Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Most of Man City's play goes through the middle so we need so shore up in the middle of the park. Drinkwater, King or Hammond need to come in. Not bothered who really. Maybe stick someone on Silva the whole time if he's playing. Navas is also lightening so De Laet needs to be on the pitch too probably.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Hamer Simpson Morgan Moore Konch Hammond cambiasso Allbrighton James mahrez Ulloa Whoever plays we will lose though
Jon the Hat Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Man City have not been 100% consistent. We just might get something from the game. I think a close loss which boosts our confidence.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I just want Man city to have to produce a bit of magic to beat us and not be just handed goals on a plate. That would be an improvement.
teblin Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I just want Man city to have to produce a bit of magic to beat us and not be just handed goals on a plate. That would be an improvement. I agree with that. Be nice to not beat ourselves.
davieG Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Manuel Pellegrini has warned his side their performance levels must not drop when they travel to Premier League bottom club Leicester City on Saturday. City have been in fine form in recent weeks, recording six successive victories which include dramatic results against Bayern Munich and Roma in the Champions League, which saw the side reach the last 16. Their superb run of form has seen the defending top flight champions also cut the eight-point advantage league leaders Chelsea had over them to just three. And while the Blues will be firm favourites at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the Chilean coach has warned against complacency ahead of the clash. Pellegrini said: "Maybe it has been a difficult start for them but I think they are a very good team. "They beat Man United and they lost against Liverpool, but in a game they played also very well. "We are not thinking about which position they are in the table. We are thinking about if we want to win, we must play the same way we are doing in the last weeks. "I have always said to the players that for our club it is very important to continue in the Champions League, not just in the group stage, but that does not mean we don't care what is happening in thePremier League. "The Premier League is as important as the Champions League." City’s hopes of European success have been raised after their remarkable turnaround to reach the last 16 in European’s elite competition following their 2-0 win in Italy midweek Their chances were written off after they claimed just two points from their opening four Champions League fixtures, despite their latest successes Pellegrini has claimed there is still a lot to prove. He said: "We must demonstrate also what we can do as a team. "It is important for the team, for the trust of the team, and for the prestige of all the players to continue in the Champions League. "But we now have nothing more to do in the Champions League until February so the most important thing is to try and win the next game, and after that we will see at the end of the year how important this team can be or how much the team can achieve." easilee Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 wouldn't mind seeing how a back 4 of Wasilewski, Simpson, Upson and Schlupp at left back works out.
Blizzard Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I can't believe this thread. Disgraceful, how can those people say they are Leicester Fans. OK, we might get beaten. Kasper wont even be playing.
ARM1968 Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 On paper we should get battered. Good job we don't play on paper. Hope we get something out of it, but not sure we will.
daddylonglegs Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Really looking forward to this... can't get too hung up about it if we lose as their squad is something else. Hamer Simpson Wes Was Konch Cambiasso King James Mahrez Knockaert Ulloa
Spicer Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 They have Silva back now.... well shite. We probably will need 2 players playing CDM to not get knocked out the park. I seem to remember in our early matches King and Hammond stayed just in front of the defense and didn't move from there. If we are to get anything then James/ Cambiasso/ Drinkwater or whoever will have to do the same role and put in a mighty performance. I originally thought 4-3-3. But I now think 4-2-3-1/ 4-4-1-1 is the better option.
