Blanesta Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Honestly have no idea what people are seeing in Hamer. I am not saying he has been terrible but where where is this excessive love fest coming from? His distribution is really poor, he is not decisive at all when being chased down and has almost put us in the shiz a couple of times hitting it against oncoming players, and statistically he is no better than Kasper goal-wise (in fact he has performed slightly worse on stats alone), conceding 7 goals from 20 shots on target in his last 5 games compared to Kasper's 10 goals in 25 shots on target in the previous 5. He hasn't solved the "commanding the area" problem that everybody is apparently an expert on and he has shown in the past that he has a tendency to flap at crosses; he did it the other day against Liverpool and nothing came of it. Once people have made their mind up on here it's like everything they see counts as evidence for their opinion and nothing will prove otherwise. Maybe people are getting behind the lad, or do we write off a player and slate him till he's no longer at the club? Also how on earth is conceding 7 goals in 5 games worse than conceding 10 goals in 5 games?

Whether you mean Lee, Ben or Ian, I'm not sure, but it's difficult to read your post seriously.
MattyFromLE Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I'd say there are a few motives for this. Hamer has been fantastic. Steady, trustworthy, made some decent saves - but widely inexperienced. Kasper, has also been very good - but so far inexperienced in the Premier League. Schwarzer - bags of experience, coming to the end of his career, surely we are looking at him becoming part of our GK coaching team?
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Everyone seems to be slagging Hamer distribution off, have they not noticed this issue with Schmeichel? Kasper's is just as bad if not worse but no-one hardly mentions it. That'll be because Kasper is untouchable. No. I think you're both being a bit disingenuous here. You can't slate Kasper game after game, demand Hamer replace him, and then act incredulous when somebody notices that your predictions about Hamer being the saviour of Leicester City weren't entirely accurate. Nobody is claiming Hamer is terrible and Kasper was a goalkeeping god, they are just questioning why you and others like you keep blindly spouting this pro-Hamer and anti-Kasper nonsense when it's totally without evidence and quite clear that our problems are not to do with who is in goal. The same people calling for Kasper's head are now saying how mightily impressed they are with Hamer, even though he makes the same mistakes and is statistically slightly worse in some areas (like the saves to shots on target ratio). And specifically regarding distribution: the average over all of their performances reveals Kasper's distribution is marginally better (48% to 41%), but Hamer has only played 6 games to Kasper's 14 so it's not really a big enough selection of data to make an informed conclusion. I have no problem with saying though that Hamer's kicking is very worrying at times; Kasper has never lacked power and sometimes he overhits kicks so they go out for a goalkick or a throw-in in the opposition half. Hamer sometimes doesn't manage to clear the half-way line, and he takes so much time deciding what to do with it that he has almost blasted it against oncoming players (he has already done this once, I think it was against Spurs but I can't actually remember). I have all the games so before the end of the season I'll try and make a compilation of each!
AspectFox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 At any cost? I hope you're not in business. If I had inferred that costs were not an issue, then we would have gone for Courtois wouldn't we? Clearly the signing of Schwarzer fits in with the current business model of LCFC.
dannythefox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Great keeper, kasper must be out longer than first thought then.
Heskey2011 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Class signing, but kasper still the future hopefully.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Has this actually been confirmed yet? Nope!

GorlestonFox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Says on a Chelsea Facebook griup its a free transfer, rather than a loan
MPH Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Says on a Chelsea Facebook griup its a free transfer, rather than a loan 18 month deal. I don't imagine he would leave being third choice at Chelsea to be third choice here. and I don't think Hamer will be happy being third choice when Kasper recovers from his injury which at max will be another 6 weeks? And im pretty sure Kapser wont want to be third choice. So even if one doesn't leave during this transfer window I'd be surprised if one doesn't leave at the end of the season as we now have 4 professional keepers. Smith will probably go out on loan now too... I like the idea of keeping him though as be all accounts he has potential...
lcfcbobby Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 the thing is this got reported by the daily sport so to me this means naff all until it actually happens!!!!! and Kasper's foot is being re-assessed in 2-3 weeks. so if this is happening then it will be due to the possibility of another injury. just as cover as smith is not good enough just in case he is required!!!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Schmeichel obviously out for longer than the 6 weeks they were hoping for. Metatarsal is very hard to recover from in a quick time and it's much easier to sign another keeper than to rush him back. I was thinking this too. Many clubs do have more than one GK coach, and with Schwarzer coming to the end of his career he may see it as a better chance to move into coaching than at Chelsea. Having fractured my own metatarsal I was absloutley amazed when they said six weeks, I was in plaster for around that amount of time.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 3rd clean sheet this season, all come from Hamer in goal!
Matt Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 3rd clean sheet this season, all come from Hamer in goal! Coincidence?
The Doctor Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 3rd clean sheet this season, all come from Hamer in goal! Kasper vs Sunderland?
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Coincidence? If he has very little to do he's going to keep a clean sheet.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Kasper vs Sunderland? Forgot about that! Still 3 to 1 though
Merging Cultures Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Schwarzer will be third choice. He'll provide PL experience and I'm sure will help coach KS and BH at 42 you can't expect much more than that.
