funkyrobot Posted 28 November 2015 Share Posted 28 November 2015 Still not feeling the Shinji love. For me, he's less effective than ulloa and the guy he replaced - Nuge.
Guy Posted 28 November 2015 Share Posted 28 November 2015 As I said in another thread, surely Kramaric deserves a start ahead of Okazai on current evidence! I have not been impressed by goal hanger Okazaki ever since his pre season arrival (that I think Pearson was possibly against taking place before his abrupt, enforced departure and it was more the Thai's decision to bring him in) - and quite why this player switch isn't happening is a mystery. Maybe Kram doesn't speak Italian as fluenty as Okazaki?!
MooseBreath Posted 29 November 2015 Share Posted 29 November 2015 Not a vintage display but it was telling that we barely touched the ball after he went off until the final whistle, such was the extent to which we missed his high pressing and the impact that has on the opposition's ability to control possession. His replacement offered basically nothing apart from the neat piece of control which lead to him hardly even forcing a save from the game's stand out easy chance. We do need a new forward to play alongside Vardy but in the meantime shinji is still the best we've got.

Ulloa always seems to fare better in games when he starts..........can't argue with Okazaki's off the ball work rate at times but even so, sometimes you want more than just that! We were being absolutely ripped apart before Shinji went off (hence why the change came), Ulloa looked dangerous even if his finishing wasn't great today. At least he can control it, Shinji just has a bad touch or chests it to the keeper. A lot of people turned in a shift, but you seem intent on again crediting Okazaki with others peoples good work despite all he did was give the ball away, and get so easily struggled off for the goal with just pathetic defending. Ulloa did enough last week, and he only started because he is Japanese and we were in TV.

foxfanazer Posted 29 November 2015 Share Posted 29 November 2015 No better than Nugent based on his performances for us. Awful first touch, zero strength and can't jump. Won't write him off yet but he's a passenger and a waste of a valuable place in the team right now
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 29 November 2015 Share Posted 29 November 2015 not perfect, but better than Ulloa. Vardy + Ulloa does not work. Ulloa needs the team playing off him, as he is a poor footballer, so either Vardy + Kram, or Vardy + Shinji

Ulloa did enough last week, and he only started because he is Japanese and we were in TV. Man Utd started the 2nd half brightly but we matched them. For the last half an hour after Okazaki went off it was near total Man Utd domination. I'm not saying that was all down to Okazaki going off, but the gap his absence left around the centre circle was a big factor in allowing them complete control of possession. We were lucky their attack was so impotent otherwise they would have turned that into goals. Did Ulloa really look dangerous today? I don't think so. He had two chances. One was the glorious chance that he spurned by timidly rolling it straight at De Gea. The other was when he passed it to Vardy on the right hand side of the penalty area and Vardy crossed it back into the box only to find Ulloa hadn't made the run. Vardy was furious. Not what I would call a dangerous display. What Ulloa definitely didn't do was hold the ball up. If the idea of bringing him on was to keep hold of possession high up the pitch then that was a drastic failure. There wasn't one single time when he did anything like holding the ball up. Nor did he win any headers of note, nor any flick ons. Let's be honest in the half an hour he was on he didn't do a lot. But this isn't the Ulloa thread. I like Ulloa and think he should have started today and Okazaki should have come on 2nd half. And of course it goes without saying your last point about Okazaki only starting because he's Japanese and we were being broadcast live in the UK, that famous suburb of Tokyo, is pathetic. Ironically viewers in the far east were probably less likely to see this game than our normal Saturday 3pm games because the later kick off means it would have been on in the middle of the night over there. It'sblueupnorth Posted 29 November 2015 Share Posted 29 November 2015 Woeful today AGAIN, gave the ball away over and over, weak, at fault for the goal. Okazaki shouldn't have been put in the position of being at fault for the goal, why wasn't Huth or Morgan or Fuchs marking schweinstager rather than Okazaki, just bad organisation. And for what it's worth, Kasper was at fault for the goal
