Matt Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Pearson: We were too safe Leicester manager Nigel Pearson said he was disappointed with his side’s performance after they could only draw 0-0 with Hull at the King Power Stadium. Bearing in mind their position at the foot of the table, it was a match Leicester desperately needed to win, but Pearson felt they did not take enough risks. The hosts only really got on top in the last 20 minutes, after Hull’s Tom Huddlestone had been sent off, but they could not get the breakthrough and the visitors created the better chances on the day. Leicester remain seven points from safety and have just 10 games left in which to try and avert an immediate return to the Championship. Asked for his verdict on the match, Pearson said: “Disappointing, result and performance-wise, because it was a game which we needed to win and I don’t think we really, in the attacking sense, committed enough to doing that. “I think we were a bit too safe. “I would like to have seen us put the ball at risk a bit more in the opponent’s half. We didn’t do that, for whatever reason today, so that is probably the biggest disappointment. “From Hull’s perspective, I am sure they are pretty pleased with a point because it keeps the distance between the two sides what it was before we started. “All in all, we didn’t really create enough.” :crylaugh: No shit Sherlock. That's what tends to happen when you set up not to lose.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Well yes Nigel, let's play five at the back and not really start trying to score until last ten minutes. Well done Nigel
Raj Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Wasn't he at the stadium to tell the players any instructions??? Jesus this bloke has lost the plot!!!
Legend_in_blue Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 My displeasure for the man is beginning to turn to anger if I'm honest. Is he completely and utterly clueless? What does he expect will happen if he persists with 5 at the back when the opposition is sitting behind the ball with 10 men? This is supposed to be the greatest league in the world. It's currently being occupied by one of the most clueless managers in its history. Totally, utterly and completely clueless. His managerial skills at this level are a complete joke tactically on the field of play. Useless.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 At this level. Pearson is worse than tater peeler
Monsell1976 Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 :crylaugh: No shit Sherlock. That's what tends to happen when you set up not to lose. Totally agree Matt, say it all the time negative tactics, negative results.Pearson sets up not to lose, and wonders why the games go the way they do. He that blind he blamed his players not his tactics.
lcfcsnow Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Doesn't he mean he was too safe? It doesn't take a genius to work out if you take away a midfielder to move to a 5 man defence, your attacking players are going to find it much harder with less players around to create opportunities.
Nalis Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Not over til its over. Out of curiosity, someone post how far back Fulham were in their great escape... are we even further back now???
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 So why the hell were you not down in the technical area screaming at them then nigel??????
lifted*fox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Up until now I've thought that Pearson would be the best bet if we do go down. I'm a firm believer that stability will bring success and I think he's been excellent over the last few years at getting the club back on track, on and off the pitch.BUT, the more I think about it, there isn't a huge difference between the Premier League and the Championship. If we go down, what is there to really suggest that he'd bring us right back up? Is it possible that this challenge has broken him as a manager a bit and it'll take him some time to recover as well?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 At this level. Pearson is worse than tater peeler You're right. I wish he would stick his head in a lion's mouth.
Clever Fox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Not one thing has changed all season. Still poor at the back, poor in the midfield and poor up top. He's definitely lost his way and I haven't seen anything to make me think he can bring us straight back up.
J.Lisemore Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Would like to see a vote on whether people would stick by or have Pearson out. Could be very one-sided after today.
Merging Cultures Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 We were too safe!! ! If only there was someone who could change the way we are playing, by I don't know changing the formation, bringing on different players, or doing some sort of motivational speech. Some sort of manager or something. If only football allowed those.
Guest bss9401 Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Set up not to lose...we were incredibly lucky not to lose 0-2 given their two misses!!
howiemark Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 I'm not giving hope yet. We've just got to better than 3 other teams. Looks like Sunderland are falling apart. Just need 2 other teams to follow suit. Everything crossed atm

Foxhateram Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Why can't people understand we played 5-3-2 in that formation the wing backs join the attack, hence his decision to go with de Leat over Simpson. That is not an intended defensive performance. It's a counter attacking formation that means you can potentially create 4-4 in a counter very quickly. Admittedly the players didn't use it effectively. But the pressure is on. We're too scared to let in goals and therefore are scared to attack. Such a hard situation to be in.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Looking at previous posts I put my full support behind putting a tater peeler in charge.
RowlattsFox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Pearson was renowned for being a 442 man yet it's probably his tinkering which has cost us this season. We have played 442, 541, 343 (apparently), 451 and the diamond. Yet never stuck by any of them.

It looked more of a 3-5-2 and then a 3-4-3 late on to me. We weren't set up negatively, but were definitely laboured going forward.
