Bakary Sako

I've been wondering the same. If he signs,I'm assuming he would be looking to play most weeks,as will Fuchs and Schlupp has earned his spot,so that's 3 left sided players competing for one spot (going by our current system). If he does sign,it could mean one of the following....

Pearson may be looking at playing another tactic. Maybe with four at the back and more traditional wingers...

Jeff could be of to Arsenal as reported (I doubt this tbh)....

Sako may be deployed in a more advanced position like striker or maybe in the whole behind the strikers....

Fuchs could be used on the left of the back three or possibly in CM (he is know for his passing after all)....

Whatever one it is, I trust Nige knows what he's doing. I personally quite like Sako and would like to see him come in.

Sako will be a squad player, used as an option to change things if necessary. If he expects more then that we should look elsewhere. Sako is a good player but I consider Schlupp better. In football manager terms, he should be used in the squad rotation system.

What people need to understand is that the club don't look at deals in terms of £ per week. They put deals together based on a number of things but principally how much a player will cost over the length of the contract.

For example, let's say Sako comes on a free transfer and gets £50k per week on a 3 year deal = total is £7.8m. If he cost us a £3.5m transfer fee (not unreasonable) and £30k pw wages = total is £8.1m.

It's better to look at the full package rather than worrying if Player X is worth £X per week on a free.

In my humble opinion, Sako would be a more than decent addition to the squad.

Very fair point

Do some of you really think that we will stick to 5 at the back every week? We won't be able to, we could last season because of the way we were playing, but there's no way you'll keep that up for a full season. One of our biggest flaws last season was the inability to be flexible during games, Nigel has frequently said that he likes players who can fit in many different systems.

We need a bigger squad, end of and Sako would be a very steady addition to the squad.

Spot on. But further than that, amortisation plays a huge part

In particular, in the article above is interesting how Man City made an accounting profit on Robinho despite buying him for £30m and selling him for £18m, which in most people's eyes was a £12m loss, but was actually a £1.7m profit

I think on a free Sako would be a great squad addition, and another winger besides Lawrence is always a bonus. Lawrence looks weak imo, definitely not ready for the prem yet, and if Everton are interested in him, that's gotta tell us he could hack it

We shouldn't control who we're trying to sign, by accepting to pay a player what he wants.

But, hey, it's 2015 and all that.

Reminding me slightly of Beckford and Gallagher.

No, genuine.

I have no idea where you're going to play him if you stick with three at the back and wing-backs though. You can't play Schlupp, Fuchs and Sako in the same team. I'm not sure you can even play any two out of those three in the same team.

It'd have to be 4-4-2 with Fuchs behind Sako/Schlupp.

I have a feeling we'll try a 4 at the back again at some point, presuming we bring in the players who can make it work.

We'd be mad not to have that option up our sleeves. Sooner or later teams (and maybe even over the summer) teams will work out how to play effectively against our 3-4-3 and we could do with slightly upgrading our options in a 4-2-3-1 (which seemed to have emerged as the second favoured formation by the season's end).

Not entirely sure about Sako. From what I've seen I'd expect him to be a better option than Schlupp in a 4-2-3-1 but perhaps not by enough to be throwing money at him.

Then again Radio Leicester could just be chatting rubbish as usual and Pearson tends to get transfers more right than wrong.

The guy I presume is from Radio Wolverhampton, said he wanted 80k a week.

He also said the player has a really good attitude and is a very likeable bloke.

Regardless of his wage demands, hes 27, hes gonna want too test himself, so i reckon he'll give 10000%. Hit and miss but havent most of our wide men been past couple seasons. Be exciting too see him in a better team, no offence too Wolves

50K a week for Bakary feckin' Sako? I like him as a player but he's not worth that sort of money whatsoever. That'd make him virtually our highest earner.

There is a few options.....

We could play Sako as an out and out striker,or perhaps behind the strikers or Fuchs could play at the left hand side of the back three,or maybe even in centre midfield.....
