Tielemans63 Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 It's a good job those orientals age slower than what we do otherwise he'd be too old.
Babylon Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 We've seemed to stop our recruitment process of players in their early 20's. I think it's probably a short term thing. Once we're a bit more established I think we'll start seeing more younger players come in. It won't of been un-noticed by Mainz that prem teams suddenly have more tv money than the year before But we won't though, not this season anyway.
artursteppe Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Doubters, pessimists, feartheworsttypefolk. This is exciting to me. He's a non stop fire-brand apparently, a pain in the bum to the opposition, a 60 cap international striker, who has been plying his trade in the bundesliga, which is not a crap league. Has scored goals for a poor team against oppostions who are better than Mainz. Probably the saviour of Mainz in the same way our own German speaking new signing was for us last year. Oh no.This could be terrible, wasting all that money on someone with those credentials and he is 29 years old and never played in the Premier league! Aaaaaaaaaagh...................... Give Over!
Monk Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Nige will want a range of styles of striker next season, and to me it looks like Shinji would play in a Vardy like role, running onto the balls down the channel and drifting into the middle when needed. Looks like a good buy to me, we will need strength in depth and we can't just assume we will have as few injuries as this season.
Guest Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 This one just screams failure to me. Not keen on paying such high fees for players of that age when they have never played here. They know what they are doing though. Which I'm sure we're working on. No point in saying "we won't sign anyone until we've got a midfielder in". Yes Col, oh it's babylon.
Gerard Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 We might be bringing him in to replace Vardy or Ulloa? It would be strange to have four strikers who are valued at the £10,000,000 mark.
RowlattsFox Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 We've seemed to stop our recruitment process of players in their early 20's. He's not " that " old but there'll be no resale value on him I wouldn't have thought. Huth was fair enough as he's been a beast at this level but I do get nervous when we're blowing best part of 10 large on a soon to be 30 year old. To be fair we have invested in kramaric, and we are in for kante so we are still looking for the odd younger player. Interesting that he says he's a midfielder, maybe to compete with mahrez for the role behind a front two. A lot of money but we've chased him for so long they must see something in him.
lcfcsnow Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 We might be bringing him in to replace Vardy or Ulloa? It would be strange to have four strikers who are valued at the £10,000,000 mark. Only by us
Guest Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Too much negativity here. It's good to have a player in his prime. 29 is not old at all. sort yourselves out.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 I would be happy with this. Him & Austin upfront together would be ace.
Danizen Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 We might be bringing him in to replace Vardy or Ulloa? It would be strange to have four strikers who are valued at the £10,000,000 mark. It's called progress and I couldn't be happier with those four.

MPH Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 I really cant go through with this 2 days in a row.... my patients will think im crazy...
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 I would be happy with this. Him & Austin upfront together would be ace. You want ANOTHER striker?!
tommyh Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Not sure on this one. would prefer to spend that amount on a proven premiership striker, if he takes like Kramaric a while to adapt the the different league then we would really on have Vardy and Ulloa and Nuge who we could rely on. I would definately invest that sort of money on a striker though but someone who will hit the ground running. Austin / Berahino maybe
Babylon Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Austin / Berahino maybe Errrr you would need to double the fee, plus probably pay more in wages. Not only that you'd also be competing with teams who probably finished higher than us last year. In a perfect world yes... in reality we aren't going to get one of them.
Mark_w Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 As someone else mentioned I suppose this guy covers the asian player request from the owners. We've probably just picked out the best one we can get, that will offer something in a position we need. I think it's more likely that we're signing him because he's one of the better goalscorers in the Bundesliga, than because he's born in Asia and might be alright. I really don't think we'd spend this much on anyone unless Nigel Pearson thought they would be able to significantly improve the team either in the short (Okazaki/Ulloa) or long (Kramaric) term.
dorsetboy Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 seems to me a decent signing and i think a shrew one i dont think its a coincedence that fuchs is a great passer from the back and loves to ping a through ball into the attack and okazaki seems great at finding space behind the strikers and latching onto through balls .
Babylon Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Too much negativity here. It's good to have a player in his prime. 29 is not old at all. sort yourselves out. Nobody has said he's too old, but that they would prefer someone younger with sell on value.
Mark_from_USA Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 You know you're paying too much when not once has there been another club linked, pretty much the same scenario as Ulloa. £8 million for 28/29 year olds is too much. Just to remind you, Ulloa scored 11 goals, and was an important part of our survival. If this pans out the same way I will take it every time. The club needs to get the mix of experience and youth right to consolidate our position in the league. They seem to be doing so.
kingcarr21 Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 Nobody has said he's too old, but that they would prefer someone younger with sell on value. Pish Posh. Who needs sell on value. Were minted

I'm not saying it's just because he's Asian.... but come on. Owners say they want asian players and we sign an asian player?! What I'm saying is it has clearly been suggested we sign an asian player... and Pearson has gone out and found one that will add something to the team.
Max Power Posted 25 June 2015 Posted 25 June 2015 It might seem a lot, but prices are silly now. Half as much as Austin will cost for example. Will fit our style and ethic perfectly. Get him in
