4everfox Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 Why a Premier League relegation scrap is not the best move for Shinji Okazaki http://www.espnfc.co.uk/blog/football-asia/153/post/2462562/japan-striker-shinji-okazaki-could-be-leicester-bound? Yes but Leicester won't be in a relegation scrap next season. Touch wood.
80footgiraffe Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 He'd be amazing, would take a little while to adapt but he'd be nothing but a positive to have. Nigel is definitely interested as well as he's basically said
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 "You know we have been interested in him in (in the past)," said Pearson. "I am not going to confirm it but you know he has been on our target list for the last two windows. "Read into that what you want. He has done very well (at Mainz)." That's as good as confirmation as you'll ever get from Pearson on a transfer target. Sounds like this will be one that they'll try and make happen sooner rather than later.
CosbehFox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 The irony of that article is that Mainz are pretty much in the same position as a club as us. There's an equal chance Mainz will be in a relegation battle.
gurru991 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 It's a move that would give Pearson a ton of options up front. I kinda wanted another Ulloa type frontman, big & tall but looking at the videos, this guy would be fun to watch.

But is he really at his best with ton's of options as you put it? Personally think he works better with few options or a set plan.
gurru991 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I believe that in the Premier you need to have a flexible game plan for the offence, different tactics up front for different teams. If one thing isn't working you need the resources to change the game. A quality premier team should have 5 to 6 choices at forward.
nnfox Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 I've looked at a few videos of him now. Sign him up. Great energy, good feet and looks like a real 6 yard box poacher too. He also has the ability to be a supplier too and his skill level shows flashes of brilliance. He won't get 20 goals a season for us but for £8m he looks that he could really add strength to the team.
Devonfox1884 Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 Mixed feelings about this one. Personally think Nuge, Kramaric, Vardy and Leo with Hopper as a last resort as a substitute would be fine. Having 5 strikers all of similar quality could lead to some unhappy players due to a lack of pitch time. That being said, if any of them get injured we look slightly short of options, so another striker may be nescassery, It's a tough one.
benpicko Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 So would we have Vardy and Okazaki up front with Mahrez behind them? Because that sounds fantastic already, though then you wonder where one of Kramaric or Ulloa enter the picture with Vardy and Mahrez pretty much guaranteed a starting spot on current form and Nugent being the backup for Mahrez in that position.

I'd be inclined to think that we'll look to have two players in each position up front, and vary depending on what style we're looking to play. Kramaric/ulloa, depending on if the match requires a more refined approach or someone with a bit more physicality. Vardy/okazaki, as they're both similar from what ive heard. Nuge/mahrez, again one who is a bit more combative and one who is a bit more skilful, depending on the game. Nuge seems to be very comfortable in that advanced midfield/ deep lying forward role, so it'd almost be like having 4 strikers and 2 CAMs

Maybe not an every game kind of lineup, but a group like that could win plenty of points throughout a season when the match-up calls for it.
Tuna Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 would rather we go for Austin or ings. he's too old and may not adapt, can't think of any Japanese players who have succeeded in the prem.
Lambert09 Posted 28 May 2015 Posted 28 May 2015 Bring back Yuki!!!!!!!!! This guy sounds promising, would be happy with this. Got to get rid of Wood though surely
Finnegan Posted 28 May 2015 Posted 28 May 2015 Yes he does a lot of running but he's not as quick as Vardy. He'd be more of a Nugent upgrade if there's truth in it. Ulloa, Okazaki Vardy would be an alright three in this system and he'd make an okay pair with Vardy in that 4411. Still think I'd rather we spend 8m on a midfielder of similar or even better quality and reputation, mind. A Gylfi or a Schneiderlin, someone who can keep the ball and make us tick. A younger Esteban, basically.

MikeyT Posted 28 May 2015 Posted 28 May 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11I9AT4MhXY Actually loved goal number 2 more than 1. Superb finish.

But Mahrez is playing in Nugent's role at the moment and doing a brilliant job at it, we're hardly going to replace a 23 year old with immense talent for a 29 year old are we? Can't see Vardy sitting on the bench either after his end to the season so we'll have Ulloa, Kramarić, and Okazaki looking for a place
