steveherbe Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Which ones? Northamptons to gloat about signing Adam Smith
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 I'll be a little bit underwhelmed if we sign him. I don't know enough about him to have an informed opinion but he doesn't appear any better than what we have and at 29 little room for improvement. Also five strikers of this quality at the club seems excessive so I wonder if we're lined up to sell one of them if we complete this transfer? I'd much rather us get a couple of great centre mids in which is the area we are really lacking quality in. No contradiction here!
Gerard Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 A guy that has hit double figures in consecutive seasons in one of Europe's best leagues and has over 40 international goals appears no better to you than David Nugent and Chris Wood? I'm sure he's better than Wood and probably Nugent as well. We also have Vardy, Ulloa & Kramaric. Unless he's also the best player out of that three what's the point of bringing him in? if he's coming here I'd like to think he'll be worthy of a first team place or we're selling a striker to make room for him. I'm just judging him on perception that he's 29 and plays for one of the worst Bundesliga sides, of course he could defy my expectations but I'm not over impressed with his CV considering strikers are one of our better assets.
Darkon84 Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Owners have flown in... Would back up what I've been told that he's around the club today and things with his agent appear to be going well.
Finn Claw II Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 I assume he can play anywhere across the front 3 and also the Nugent type role? I think we have Nugent, Ulloa, Vardy, Kramaic, Mahrez and this guy fighting for 3 or 4 places in the team. Makes sense to me to bring a striker in. CM is obviously the area that needs addressing but in Nige we trust.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 What type of player is he, can he play anywhere up top and offers creativity... or is he like Ulloa an out an out striker ...
AKCJ Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 What type of player is he, can he play anywhere up top and offers creativity... or is he like Ulloa an out an out striker ... He's a slower but stronger Jamie Vardy. Works his nads off but lacks "ability".

Because you need options for players off form, injured on international duty and to change the way you play you can't just go out and get a loanee to cover these issues.

Does it mean if we buy a new striker, we can't buy a midfield player FFS?

Babylon Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 considering strikers are one of our better assets. Are they? Only Ulloa managed a decent return last year really. We have no idea if Kramaric is actually up to much yet. This geeza has bagged goals in the last two seasons in the Bundesliga, a decent amount of goals at that as well.
Grey Fox Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 I don't know why we have a scouting network. Pearson should just come on here and ask some of you lot instead. Or maybe we can add this as the final step in the scouting process? The scouts bring the ideas, then they run them past you lot before taking them to Pearson? A lot of time and money could have been saved on this deal for a start.

You're not going to buy a world beater for 8 mil nowadays in the PL; however, it might be hard to bag a proven top-flight forward for that price. Sign him up. I'm sure there's a place for Okazaki on the team, and I'll be happier to see him in a Leicester shirt than in the opposition's.

For goodness sake, people have expressed a few doubts. Nothing major, no slating of people or anything over the top. If the critisism was over the top then fair enough, but it hasn't been.
mullet Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Again courtesy of our friends at ssn OKAZAKI BID SUBMITTED We heard the rumour from Bild earlier that Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki was due to have a medical at Leicester – something Mainz’s sporting director refuted. However, Sky sources tell us the Foxes have submitted a £7m bid for the Japanese striker. The 28-year-old scored 12 goals in 32 appearances for the Bundesliga club last season - his second at the club since signing from Stuttgart in 2013.
Swiper Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Pete O'Rourke just tweeted that Mainz have denied the claims. Not sure how reliable he is.
lcfc matt Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 I assume the helicopter at the training ground may be something to do with this.it came about 11 this morning and it's just left now noisy bugger I'm trying to watch the telly

They blew their load in January and had to retract. They will keep shut until its sorted.
LCFC FOX Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 How do we know for sure? cousin works at the training ground and Okazaki is there in a Leicester training kit

It wasn't directed at you so you can put the handbag away for now I didn't suggest closing the forum so please don't put words in my mouth. It was just a joke about the way some people still don't seem to trust our scouting network that's all. You said the same thing yourself so it's not that outrageous.
MPH Posted 26 June 2015 Posted 26 June 2015 Pretty sure all our deals/ offers we submit go in with a confidentiality clause.... we seem to very much like the cloak and dagger aspect of transfer negociating... maybe the mainz chairman is just playing along with it. He's definitely in Leicester. We have been working on this one for quite a while...
