brigfox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 After Donny last year it was fantastic to see the players, the staff, our wonderful owners and all those who had made the Championship success a reality, parading around the pitch and interacting with our fantastic supporters. Then, despite repeated requests not to encroach, it all started. From my seat hear to the tunnel, I could see the look of disappointment, then fear, then anger on the faces of the players, particularly those with young children who looked frightened and close to tears, as they fled the pitch. Please, enjoy the moment, but keep off the grass, at least until the players have left.
Livid Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Nothing against them but they have to be spontaneous in a reaction to events on the day. A no for me.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Will be some pissed up nobs who will without doubt, hopefully they get shouted down/nutted by Wasyl and Huth. No idea where this fascination to run on the pitch has came from. When there is something dramatic then I can see the logic. But almost every team do it in their final home game now and it's so unnecessary. You can tell most of the players don't want to be grabbed by every fan, which is why they all run down the tunnel. Just let the lads do the victory lap and celebrate with them, and once they are in you can go and stand on a bit of grass by all means.
st albans fox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I have thought about this and decided there will be too many nobs there on Sunday and to expect them to allow the players and their families to make an organised lap of thanks to us (and for us to reciprocate) just ain't gonna happen. The few wil spoil it for the many. To those who really are desperate to walk on the pitch - why not book a stadium tour and make a special request. Failing that, Victoria park, abby park - they all have loads of pitches you can walk on.
Izzy Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 What's the point? Surely a pitch invasion is meant to be a spur of the moment on pure emotional joy. If we confirmed our safety with a last minute goal I could understand it rather than after a week of being safe. I'd much rather see the squad show their appreciation to the fans instead of running on a patch of grass and having the players run off the pitch. Spot on. Think it would piss the players off if they had to scarper off instead of being able to walk round and show their appreciation.
Kitchandro Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Seems unnecessary this season. I don't think the players 'deserve' a lap of honour, they do one every match pretty much. The players are the ones who always get the glory - the songs sung for them, 30,000 cheering when they score, not to mention a perfect lifestyle and more money than they could ever need. A pitch invasion is just a way for the fans to share a bit of that. It's a special sort of moment, when done in the right circumstances.
funguseater Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Pointless....juvenile....sure the players would agree

Webbo Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Don't we have this thread at the end of every season? Nothing ever comes of it.
HighPeakFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 So my question is - what is so great about going on the pitch anyway?

You don't need to be bitter and angry about literally every single thing.
Unabomber Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 You don't need to be bitter and angry about literally every single thing. He is a parody, same guy runs Col city fan and babylad.

Bryn Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Premeditated invasions are pathetic. Even if spontaneous, all you're doing is depriving other people of the chance to applaud the players and watch the lap of Honour. Also deprives those of us who live far away or are working from seeing the images of it. To sum up, if you invade the pitch on Saturday I hope they apply the law, arrest you and ban you from the ground.
deejdeej Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Ahh not this again. Pitch invasions are cringey as ****. Can't believe those that object to this have been called boring. Celebrate in the stands, in the concourse and in the pubs before and after the game, if standing on a bit of grass is your way of excitement then good luck for the rest of your lives... amen.
nnfox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Maybe if an injury time winner qualified us for Champions League. If not, then everyone will think that Leicester fans are a bunch of douche bags. Give the players the respect they are due and applaud them on their lap.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I made it on twice v donny last season but really don't see the point this time round
Dan Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 About 1.50 in lol That remains one of the best videos on Youtube. Absolutely amazing
TheLittleBigMan Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Expect an unnecessarily large number of riot police to appear on 85 minutes, just like Brighton, last year. Speaking of which, did that guy who ran on after that game get a ban? Harsh, if he did. That'll be me. Yep, got banned for this season. Just home games though, so been to a few away days ;-)
