Matty James - Come Back Soon

FoxesTalk in short term memory loss shocker.

James is comfortably our 3rd best central midfielder when fit.

Obviously Amartey is an unknown quantity at the moment but nobody can say with a straight face that King has been better in the past nor that Inler has proven himself as of yet.

He will come back into the side, be on the bench and come off it to close games out.

I don't understand the flak he's getting - he's probably one of the most dependable players we've had in years. Nothing spectacular just always a solid performance, also partners well with anyone he's playing alongside. Hope this setback is as minor as the article makes out

Disagree with this, James has more presence, a bit more dynamic and is just as tidy. Don't understand why people have suddenly stopped rating him, possibly because he's been out a while and we have done very well since, but that doesn't make him less of a player. He's ahead of Inler and King when on form for me

But when Andy King gets the ball he scores a goal, although he hasn't really lived up to this in the PL, except the tap in rebound against West Ham that I recall.

However James can't hit a barn door with a banjo. A shoddy effort when 1 on 1 away at Newcastle in the 1-0 defeat springs to mind.

Drinkwater and Kante are both streets ahead of them both. Kante is streets ahead of most of the world's midfielders, never mind just the PL.

King and James are much of a muchness for me really, both just about Premier League squad midfielders. There are a hell of a lot of players in this league I'd rather have in central midfield than King and James. Whereas not many I'd rather have for Drinks and Kante.

James has always surprised me at how good he is. Whenever I have doubted him, always put in great performances. I really can't see him getting much game time with us now though, considering Kante and Drinkwater will likely always start, and then you have Amartey and King too, with Inler likely to go in the Summer, it still leave James at 5th choice most likely, although wouldn't be a shock to see him jump ahead of King, maybe even Amartey in the pecking order, however, I still think he will find game time limited and probably best he looks of a move in the Summer.

You people disgust me. Prior to his injury he was one our teams best players, ahead of King(though I love him) and clearly better than Inler yet you just dismiss him. Hope you would give your own family better support. Thought we were all supposed to be part of the "team"

Matty James is a superb player. I hope he can get back to how he was pre injury. If he does that he'll be pushing for a first team spot in my opinion. He's a better player than King and Inler too. Easily

Had better overall stats than your mate last season.

Just sayin.....

James is a solid defensive minded midfielder who has a superior overall game to him than King. He could definately do a job for us if he could regain fitness and form. However, with Amartey signing it's probable James will go out on loan in the Championship. Would make sense.

Good player, who need too be eased back in to the first time squad when his is ready. We need to keep a solid core of British players to ensure the club ethos is continued.

I haven't got a short memory but I cannot remember him being as good as some of you lot are making out. As for he's on par with Drinkwater - a post from the previous page - no way, Drinkwater is streets ahead.

I'm not doubting James is a good footballer, but whenever anybody a spell out they are suddenly rated higher than they previously were. James always looked like he had no pace to me and opposition midfielders would pass him by.

Unfortunately, I think he's too slow for what we're currently doing; though he'd be useful if we were struggling lower down the table.

It will be satisfying when Matty comes back into the team and people are singing his praises again: maybe if he can get a flashy long-range goal or two this time people might even remember he is a decent player during spells out of the team for whatever reason!

He will be a very good boost for us when he's available to play again. Tidy on the ball, always tries his best defensively and supports the attacks well. Overall a decent asset to the squad, and another nice option to have in the midfield.

I think it's fair to say that all 6 of our midfield options would and could sign for most other Premier League clubs if given the chance. The strength in depth is incredible.

Rather than debating who's better, let's just be glad that we have them all!

True. Plenty of midfield options has been useful as this season has proved. For instance when we played 5 across the middle sometimes. We've had the players to come in to play their roles.

I don't think there is much chance of long range shot going in. Shooting certainly isn't one of his strengths!

Calm down, it's only a forum. He was decent in our Championship winning team and then average at best in our very near relegation season. If he comes back and suddenly improves a few levels then great, we will all be happy.

If not then he'll either be a squad player or will find opportunities elsewhere.

assuming he is the player he was before his injury.

likely he wont be.

at best he'd be looking at gradually getting back to the player he was.

not much opportunity for him then this season at least.

loan move imminent.

I agree , with most, last sentence, noway.!!

James if he does return, no more major injuries, this is the type of player we will need.We need a strong squad,

competion in the midfield, and a plan B , without Kante ( rest/injuries).

Before his injuries, I rated him slightly better than DD, and potentially could of developed as one of the top 4

english midfielders in the PL....Though now he has to start again, but we should keep him

One of our most reliable performers last season. More like Lennon than Kante, but great reader of the game and an ideal foil for an attacking midfielder. He does the simple things right, passes well and doesn't make mistakes. Look forward to having him as cover for Kante...

The future is his to pick, I dare say.

He's always played well for us, and looked the part each season. Sadly, this lengthy lay-off has meant that he hasn't had the privilege of maturing and progressing along with the rest of the team ; Drinkwater, Albrighton, King and Morgan have all stepped it up a considerable gear whilst he has been out of the team, especially in terms of the all important winning mindset. The injury has denied Matty this development, and no doubt have hampered his physical condition to boot. It's up to him how he manages this, and I'm guessing that he'll figure, but it'll be hard work getting there.

Always liked the bloke, seems Martin Allen's type of fella....'smashing lad' and all that.

Good luck to James my fear with injury's like this is the ones that keep getting minor setbacks are the ones who are never the same again if and when they do finally return. This is the third setback he has had on the comeback trail and i hope and prey this injury does not ruin a career that was just blossoming. Last season when we were at our worst he still looked like he carried that bit of extra class. Tie to draw a line through this season and hope he has a good summer ready for next year.
