City will not be spending big this summer, says Nigel Pearson

lol

He also said we wouldn't be signing players people had heard of at the start of last season, shortly before signing Albrighton, Upson and Cambiasso.

He's basically saying that we won't spend like the top six.

Captain Obvious to the rescue!

Don't really need to, to be honest. We've already got some good players here, of course there's always never no room for improvement. We only really need to sign players we're desperate in, for me the barrier should be only around £12million. We need of course RB and a LB and sort out the business with Huth as soon as possible, looking likely Knocky will go we probably need a replacement for him and maybe up front, for me if we were to spent big amount of that budget I'd use it on an a extra striker.

Our squad has the quality, we just need to add a bit of experience which should not cost too much. With the likes of Kramaric, Moore and others also pushing for a first team spot we have a decent squad.

Pearson will have a budget and doubtless there will be some flexibility if a special opportunity occurs

Otherwise there will be already identified targets intended to deliver value for money and individual outlays will doubtless depend on the costs of other signings.

What's important is that any signings serve to improve the squad and its individual components and the options available to the manager. Seems to me that team spirit is the most important component at Leicester City right now and I'd imagine the manager will be keen to maintain that even if it means spending fairly prudently.

Long term Premiership success was never going to be instant. Our survival this term was a significant achievement and if we make further steady progress next term I'll be delighted.

My concerns mid-season centred around our never needing to have slipped into the relegation area at all rather than anything to do with us not having a basically good enough team to win games.

As it happened, the seemingly unexciting loan signing of Huth and a new system made a significant difference and I've no doubts now that we can continue to improve by spending cleverly rather than rashly.

I stoll believe that Kram will turn out to be a great buy.

me to...this year was not the year to throw him in the deep end regardless of the cost. As others have said, whilst its big for us, it doesn't amount to much for longer term premier league clubs

Headline reading at its finest here. It's a completely fabricated non-story that as usual, gives nothing away.

Plus the fact they've written Ulloa is our record transfer fee at £8m. Kramaric was over £9m!

Last year he said we will make 1 or 2 acquisitions and we signed a lot more then that so if Nigel says we aren't going to sign anyone for 25+ million we probably will lol the forthcoming transfer window has just gotten more interesting.

To be fair we probably wouldn't have heard of Nigel's first choice signings, he was forced to go to second and third choice players. Imagine what he could have done if we signed his first choice players!

If nige says he is spending big that immediately inflates the market. He can't rele say anything other than deny he wants to spend lots of money lol!

so i won't be buying a messi leicester shirt next season you say?

We're getting him for free mate, buying out his own contract at Barca just to don the famous blue shirt.

Will be interesting to see what happens this summer now Terry Robinson has gone after all the rumours from last summers dealings

Kramaric was more like £7m. The £9m comes from people rounding up and then just saying €9m is £9m!

Read this as pearsons version of wenger.

He won't waste it but it's there if needed.

Huth for a max of 4 million and esteban's now 1 million a month is 16 before we start.

We will see pearson hold this squad together in the main and add when he can.

Pearson manages this club top to bottom and has placed so many things for the long term.

Kev Phillips interview spoke volumes when he said injured players got fit as to just train with the legend. Nige sorted that.

This club is in safe hands not sven hands.

Don't know about everyone else but aside from the obvious not wanting to endanger the club I really like the way we are trying to build up the club. The Thais are clearly minted but we aren't going to do a Man City and go mad buying expensive players that could just be big time charlies and that wouldn't really be us. Give me a Vardy over a ballotelli

Exactly. I honestly don't think we need to do very much business at all to do a lot better in the league. We've seen the team perform very well and get nothing time after time this season, and recently seen evidence that we already have a team that can make picking up points look easy.

I think we should just lose all the fringe senior players who are nowhere near the first team, and bring in Huth and a few young players who are good enough to compete for a first team place.

Huth, another CB, a LWB, a CM and a CAM/ST

I've said it before, but I don't think it makes sense to say how much we could or should spend. Vardy cost £1m. Soldado was £26m. I know which one I'd rather have. Hull spunked a king's ransom up the wall last summer, and look doomed. Mahrez cost £400k. Who's to say the scouts can't find a few more bargains?

This.

using Spurs as an example, with all the money they have spent. Their 2 best outfield players this season were Kane for free and Eriksen who cost 11m. After spending hundreds of millions and despite having a great keeper, they still managed to concede as many goals as Burnley. We simply can't afford any dud 20m plus signings and don't really need to. The core of our side is looking very good, not being beaten by more than 2 all season shows that. The amount of games spurs have won that they could easily have lost or drawn due to having 2 top quality players is the small margins we are looking at.
