Weller in Tights Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Really pleased for him. Well done Jamie. Couldn't give a f*** for what plastic Man Utd fans think of him.
weller54 Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Get Austin signed up.. We'll have the England strike force pairing!!
Tielemans63 Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 David nugent Played for Preston when he got his call up.
Jace Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Anyone find that thread from earlier on in the season where we predicted who the next Leicester player to play for England would be?
bovril Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 So, so far this season: We signed the most decorated and skilled former Argentinian international Esteban Cambiasso. Put together the best Premier a League relegation escape ever. Had our rags to riches striker Jamie Vardy who was playing Non-League three years ago called up to the England squad. What. A. Season. Amazing when you think about it. Especially when, at the end of March, we were on course for one of our worst ever points totals. Football, ey.
Guest Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Hope he plays, scores a hat-trick and ends up on the plane to France for the euros.
gerrytaggart Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Really pleased for him. Well done Jamie. Couldn't give a f*** for what plastic Man Utd fans think of him. Couldnt agree more. I dont consider Manchester United 'fans' as knowledable about anything other than manchester united....and even then alot are clueless.
foxfanazer Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Don't care what other teams fans think. On form he's earned his place
Libertine Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Great stuff. May be hard to keep hold of him depending on how he does.
Silverdaz Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Think he means whilst at Leicester. Was that Steve Guppy?
StriderHiryu Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Congratulations Jamie Vardy! Over the moon for him! It's disapointing to see the reaction from other clubs and fans to the news. The guy has throughly earnt the call-up and I can't think of any other English player who puts in as much as effort as he does on a consistent basis. Sure, he's not going to be a first choice England player, but having a player with electric pace that cause opponents to make mistakes through his work rate is a great option to have. England typically go out of every competition in a damp squib, and Vardy is someone who can inject some real attacking intent!
Jakemoore Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Well deserved. And fair play to woy for having the guts to pick someone like vardy and not being stuck up like a lot of ex England managers!
yorkie1999 Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 So Woy pops down to the king power to see how his star southampton defenders perform and what does he witness, a striker ripping them apart. Get him in.
MC Prussian Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 I assume they are just joking??? Usually the selection criteria is whether or not you are in a top 5 team, forget if you actually play regularly, or do anything... Most of those comments are from last autumn. Wonder whether they'll have changed their opinion in the meantime...
Staffs Fox Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Congratulation on our Jamie, I really didn't it would happen! By the way the thread title is slightly wrong, the Slovenia game isn't a friendly its a Euro Qualifier
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 get in line to bum me.... #1 Esteban #2 Huth #3 Vards Gape-tastic
Jam Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Fantastic news. Fully deserved. This month just keeps getting better and better for us!
NZ_Foxile Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Nice article about Jamie and his rise from non-league to England: http://m.gainsboroughstandard.co.uk/sport/local-sport/why-achievements-of-england-squad-member-and-leicester-city-star-jamie-vardy-mean-so-much-to-non-league-fans-1-7272621
m4DD0gg Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Made up for him, congratulations Jamie you really deserve it. Hope you can grab hold of this opportunity and show them what you are made of!
Foxymcoxy Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 He'll definitely get a game, won't he? Would be gutting if he didn't get on the pitch.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 I don't think I'll ever celebrate an England goal as much as if Vardy scores tbh I'll be creating scenes in the Aviva Stadium next month if that happens
desertfox2 Posted 21 May 2015 Posted 21 May 2015 Never been so pleased for a play to get called up. Great news.
