TheSomersetFox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Just read the headline on BBC Sport - "Spurs narrow gap on Leicester with draw"! WTF?! So if they won, it would have read "Spurs all but win Premier League title after draw at Anfield". It's getting really infuriating, the way the (mainly London-based) media are so obviously trying to will the wheels to come off, this close to the end, considering we are still 4 points clear without kicking a ball. C'mon Foxes tomorrow!!! bit of an overreaction there pal.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Agree a draw would not be a disaster. A win would be incredible! Always matching a Spurs result is never a disaster, because we are in front... a draw would be decent for us
Kendal Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 haha calm down. They narrowed the gap. Technically, yes. By one point. Surely, Spurs fans will see it as more of a "blow" than a "narrower" though?.
Happy Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Would be massive, never over until it is mathematically sealed though, but 7 clear with 6 to play well you have one hand on that title... True, untill it's mathematically sealed nothing is guaranteed, I think the extra day rest could be a blessing in disguise for us.
Mark_w Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Technically, yes. By one point. Surely, Spurs fans will see it as more of a "blow" than a "narrower" though?. Like we did when we drew with West Brom the night before West Ham beat Tottenham?
Les-TA-Jon Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 hahaha at that headline "Spurs narrow the gap with draw..."
bovril Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Technically, yes. By one point. Surely, Spurs fans will see it as more of a "blow" than a "narrower" though?. You can't really put a negative spin on it before you know the outcome of our game tomorrow. We're having the best press of any title-challenger for years. People are getting paranoid.
Kendal Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Always matching a Spurs result is never a disaster, because we are in front... a draw would be decent for us Yep. Not that I want us to get ahead of ourselves. But a win would surely put us in an unstoppable position to go on and clinch the title. Just hope the jet-lag for Morgan, Okazaki and Mahrez won't be a factor.
ARTY_FOX Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 What's it supposed to say? They drew, at Liverpool and narrowed the gap???
Spiritwalker Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Can't fault the effort from Liverpool. I would have settled for that result even at 1-0.
trabuch Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Good - Pochetino reckons they feel like it's dropped points. Keep feeling negative Poch.
Kendal Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Like we did when we drew with West Brom the night before West Ham beat Tottenham? Well, we were still ahead though. Should we lose tomorrow, we'll still be 4 points clear with 6 games to go.
Webbo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Yep. Not that I want us to get ahead of ourselves. But a win would surely put us in an unstoppable position to go on and clinch the title. Just hope the jet-lag for Morgan, Okazaki and Mahrez won't be a factor. Then the headline will be "Leicester extend lead".
Max Power Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Biased London media premier league table shows Spurs have gained one point and narrowed the lead to four points.
Carl the Llama Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Of course Spurs have narrowed the gap. Surely everyone can remember what happened last time we drew and started making out like that was the end of our title race?
Kendal Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 What's it supposed to say? They drew, at Liverpool and narrowed the gap??? So if it said "Spurs title bid dented after draw at Anfield", would that be out of order?
fuchsntf Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Well played Spurs, well taken goal Mr Kane 2 top seasons... Thats the compliments over...!! Klopps priority next season 2 new CBs at least.Sturridge also under threat. Our city boys , just need to equal or better todays result, no pressure, no musts. 2 best forwards in the PL this season are English...at last !!! Kane and Vardy, both Special. One thing that hasnt changed,...2 best managers not British. Argentina vs Italy. Pochetino vs Ranieri So thankfull to the football gods that Leicester city are a major part of this season, in fact the top billing. (Obviously not forgetting King Richard).
foxes_rule1978 Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 So if it said "Spurs title bid dented after draw at Anfield", would that be out of order? It would, because we haven't played yet... if we lose then albeit we are still 4 ahead it puts Spurs actually in a bit of a better position with 6 left...
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 I think the draw was good for us - quite simply Spurs failed to get all the points available. Up to us to keep doing our job. Liverpool were poor in defence at times. Spurs looked dangerous although a bit sporadic and no one should deny Kane's goal wasn't well taken. The draw was fair. Certainly better for us that than a Spurs win.
trabuch Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 So if it said "Spurs title bid dented after draw at Anfield", would that be out of order? Exactly.
Kendal Fox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 OK. Everybody's getting literal on me. Surely, with a 5 point deficit to make up, 7 games from the end, taking 1 out of a posssible 3 points is a blow? When we drew with West Brom, we still had 11 games to go and were 3 points ahead, so I don't see that as a valid comparison. It would, because we haven't played yet... if we lose then albeit we are still 4 ahead it puts Spurs actually in a bit of a better position with 6 left... Fair enough. Can't argue with that.
Webbo Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 OK. Everybody's getting literal on me. Surely, with a 5 point defecit to make up, 7 games from the end, taking 1 out of a posssible 3 points is a blow? When we drew with West Brom, we still had 10 games to go and were 3 points ahead, so I don't see that as a valid comparison. Fair enough. Can't argue with that. Why have you got to be looking for a conspiracy? The headline was factually correct, it's not some plot against us.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 As they say it's over for us for tomorrow to do the business, massive opportunity been given us to extend our a lead and I honestly believe a win tomorrow could settle it! seven point lead with six games to go doesn't sound bad at all!
ajthefox Posted 2 April 2016 Posted 2 April 2016 Jeff Stelling's summary of Villa's season. Short and sweet.
