cc_star Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Sure ManCity fans thanking Mancini for achievements wasn't a kick in the teeth for incoming manager Sure Mancini thanking MC fans for their support during his time there wasn't a kick in the teeth for his new club It's perfectly possible to thank a former charge for achievements & to support the current charge with building on the formers achievements in a King is dead, long live the King kind of way You'd think, Ranieri would hopefully like to be thanked in a similar way after his inevitable departure through resignation/sacking/retirement I don't think applause is the right way, but neither is a shrug of indifference
Matt Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 These minute applause's do my head in, soon there will be a club who does one for the whole 90 minutes for one reason or another (More than likely Newcastle or Villa - they seem to be common offenders of it). However on this occasion I'm all for it. 1 - Because I bloody love Nige 2 - I'd like to thank Nige for all he did for us, and we haven't had that chance. He deserves some respect. 3 - It'll wind a few people up.

I liked Nigel, but lets not make him out to be some sort of messiah. I don't get a minutes applause everytime I do well at work.
ClaphamFox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 What are your thoughts on swapping the family stand and the Kop? It's an idea that just came to me. Quite genius I thought. I think it's a brilliant idea. However I probably should have made it clear that I don't work in marketing for the club.
Larry_LCFC Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I think it's a brilliant idea. However I probably should have made it clear that I don't work in marketing for the club. Thanks. Im just so glad I thought of it. I'll email my mate Susan immediately.
Mark_w Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 What annoys me is the fans who will bang on about Pearson all season will be the ones who gave me grief for sticking by him last season when they were DESPERATE for him to be fired. Out of interest, what on earth makes you think that's the case?
Brooksy Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 So we move on. However fans have been complaining they were unable to show their appreciation for big nige. Therefore there is a planned 7th minute applause to mark Nigels reign at Leicester. Why the 7th minute? It is 7 years since 2008 when Nigel was first appointed, and we were at our lowest ppoint in our history, in league 1. Secondly it is to mark the 7 wins out of 9 at the back end of the season. People will say this detracts from Mr ranieri starting but it's totally unrelated. We continue to support the team, but the Nigel Pearson years deserve to be marked. So 7th minute, on Saturday. An applause for the Nigel Pearson years. Let's mark the start of our new era, with a respectful show of appreciation to Nigel Pearson. Looks like you'll be clapping on your own mate
leicesterlad1989 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Did we not all clap him, along with the other players and staff at the end of the season when they walked around the pitch? We best clap on the 3rd minute for Konchesky and if rumours are true I think we must prepare for a 35th minute applause. Oh and why we are at it, I never did fully show my appreciation to MON, so what minute shall I clap him?

There theres little Knocky ....24th.
sdb Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Out of interest, what on earth makes you think that's the case? Because they're the trigger happy fans who jump on bandwagons and change their stance every few weeks. Annoys me so much. NP knows he was loved here, so why applaud the bloke when he's probably hundreds of miles away?! A letter of appreciation would be much more appropriate if people don't feel like he knows the fans thank him. It's a bad idea. Counter productive if anything, and gives the players an easy excuse from the off too.

With all due respect to those players, I think it's pretty clear that Nigel Pearson has contributed more to Leicester, over a longer period of time, than any of them.
RonnieTodger Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Just a Pearson flag stretching across the Kop is fine

kingcarr21 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Every match Pearson at some point would hear the chants "There's only 1 Nigel Pearson". Surely this was an indication of our appreciation for the work he had done. He was appreciated practically every week and knew about it. So with that in mind why on earth would we need to do a pathetic tinpot minutes applause to show appreciation. Embarassing
RonnieTodger Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 He did his job, got paid very well for it, and then fvcked up by not keeping his mouth / son under control. fleckneymike Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 How would Pearson know we were applauding him? You know, what with him not being there, no one else knowing you're doing it, and the rather flimsy decision to do it on 7 minutes.

We often have a minutes clap when the cob lady brings the trolley round at work and we will continue to do so long after her, her trolley and her cobs have gone to show our appreciation forever and ever until death us do part.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Absolutely not. What all our fans should be doing in the 7th minute, is keeping up the great atmosphere created last season. Not gazing soulfully at the dugout, lamenting how he stood sometimes on the touch line, waving as we sang his name, tearliy wishing it was again Nige.... Oh sat in the West stand telling someone to FOAD? I'm sure Pearson would be highly embarrassed if this were to happen. As would I. Some people on here are like love sick teenage school girls. Fffs, snap out of it you big Queens!
leicesterlad1989 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 With all due respect to those players, I think it's pretty clear that Nigel Pearson has contributed more to Leicester, over a longer period of time, than any of them. Players come and go, as do managers. Some will always be remembered for their great achievements and others are best forgotten but nobody is bigger than the club. I was a massive fan or Pearson, MON and Brian Little (from what I can remember, was only a kid) and I showed my support throughout their tenure as a manager of the club. They have now left, as have a million and one other players previously that I have liked. When Heskey left I didn't give him a minutes applause for example. Would we all feel the same if he resigned or if he was now at a different club? This whole applause thing is a typical modern football wanky thing to do.
digitalalba Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I think this applause is a great idea, I should imagine Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh will tap something. Thanks Nige, for the 2 title wins and premiership stability. Never expected that when you arrived first time round.
jonah Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Maybe we should all clap him to remind him of the disease his son proberbly now has??.....
Les-TA-Jon Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 what a bizarre binary world you live in, where you can only like one or the other, instead of supporting the current boss, while showing appreciation for the old one who got us here. Oh & the idea was the applause does draw the line under it & everyone moves on This. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world would it? People trying to claim it'd be some catastrophic self-destructive thing are forgetting those idiotic "Wealo" chants when we had Ricardo in goal. Now THAT was self-destructive!
