Ashley Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I was probably Nigel Pearson biggest fan but this needs to stop he has gone now. Lets move on minutes applause tomorrow please.
Larry_LCFC Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 This. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world would it? People trying to claim it'd be some catastrophic self-destructive thing are forgetting those idiotic "Wealo" chants when we had Ricardo in goal. Now THAT was self-destructive! What's clapping him going to achieve? He's gone and pretty sure he will neither see it or care. Maybe if he kept his mouth shut for a change and put his son on a leash, he would still be here. Cannot believe people are entertaining the idea
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Every match Pearson at some point would hear the chants "There's only 1 Nigel Pearson". Surely this was an indication of our appreciation for the work he had done. He was appreciated practically every week and knew about it. So with that in mind why on earth would we need to do a pathetic tinpot minutes applause to show appreciation. Embarassing This. Also maybe if they need a clapping session they should save the applause for when something serious has happened to one of our own (perish the thought).
HitchinFox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I have nothing against a little gesture to duff our caps at Nige, but what's wrong with a bit of a chant, say, during the first minute of the match? "We thank you Nigel, we do. We thank you Nigel, we do...etc." Get it over and done with early doors. It'd also be obvious so those who want to join in wouldn't simply wonder what the hell is going on when a small group starts randomly clapping on the 7th minute? Whatever it is, if it does happen, could we do it very early on so we can then concentrate on the game and this season – and finally start looking ahead? Just my thoughts.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 I won't applaud. Pearson was good for the club, in fact very good. But he's left and we move on and get behind the new bloke now. I'll be cheering 'one Ranieri' from now. This isn't about you can't support one or the other. Of course you can. I'm just choosing not to applaud an ex manager at the first home game for the new manager.
kingfox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 what a mongy idea. Shouldn't happen but no doubt Mark_w will do it anyway.
whoareyaaa Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 He won't even get to hear it this is such a stupid idea honestly. we should applaud him when he is actually there in person whether it be in the crowd or managing another team, not when we just employed a new manager and its a vital first game of the season 7 mins in if you want to do it do after the final whistle. This would just be embarrasing.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 So we move on. However fans have been complaining they were unable to show their appreciation for big nige. Therefore there is a planned 7th minute applause to mark Nigels reign at Leicester. Why the 7th minute? It is 7 years since 2008 when Nigel was first appointed, and we were at our lowest ppoint in our history, in league 1. Secondly it is to mark the 7 wins out of 9 at the back end of the season. People will say this detracts from Mr ranieri starting but it's totally unrelated. We continue to support the team, but the Nigel Pearson years deserve to be marked. So 7th minute, on Saturday. An applause for the Nigel Pearson years. Let's mark the start of our new era, with a respectful show of appreciation to Nigel Pearson. Utter bollocks!

A chant is an even worse idea. Atleast 80% of people wouldn't have ****ing clue why we were clapping. A chant on the otherhand - how would you feel starting a new job and suddenly everyone around you is chanting the name of the guy you have just replaced? People just need to leave this well alone. The best thing that can happen is for this thread to disappear and we just pretend it never happened.
RonnieTodger Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 This timed applause needs to go away. It was a nice idea when Villa did it for Petrov, but it's become stale. Having said that, if anyone deserved it from us, it's Nigel.
smudger63 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Absolutely crazy idea. So you want to welcome the new manager by fawning over the previous manager, who wont even be there. Hopefully there will be no one anywhere near me that decides it`s a good idea! Get behind the new manager, and give the guy a chance. Pearson has gone, just get over it for fvck sake!
Bayfox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 What baffles me more is that nobody actually knows the real reason he was sacked. Sure the media have said one thing, but we don't know its true or not. NP may have really crossed the line and left the owners with no choice, and yet people want to clap him. No thanks. Disrespectful to Ranieri as far as Im concerned. Sure Nigel moved on weeks ago, shame we clearly haven't. I know. But can't say. But lets just suggest that this nonsense with a chilean international who doesn't want to play for us wasn't on nigels shopping list hence why it's not rudkin or walsh out there trying to sign him. And he was only 1 off 3 on the owners list that nige didn't want. But of course that's speculation and I didn't here that from anyone close to the club.
ARM1968 Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Bloke acted like a pillock last year. If you're on £1 million a year to manage a friggin football team you should learn some self restraint and a bit of humility. I'll be showing my flexibility in the 7th minute.

But what about a third minute applause to comemorate the fact that he was sacked for the third time?

In the form of a punch to your face.
Master Fox Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 This is embarrassing. Please don't even attempt such a dumb idea.

Weller in Tights Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 As I have said before, I was a bit of an 'on the fence' supporter with regards Pearson. But he's not here now so move on, no need for this. Our focus should be 100% behind the team for tomorrow. As others have said, I'm not a big fan of the applause at set times in the game, we seem to get them more and more for a whole variety of reasons. Focus on the game and supporting the team.
Claridge Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 what a mongy idea. Shouldn't happen but no doubt Mark_w will do it anyway. Pathetic idea.if he hadn't behaved like a knob at times last season ,he would still be here
leicesterseddon Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 To the OP: when you say "there is a planned applause", what do you mean? Do you mean that you want to plan an applause using social media but you think if you cloak your intentions in the passive then it will make it sound more official? Anyway, this is a terrible idea. The fans showed plenty of "appreciation" to NP whilst he was here. From the sounds of it you're just unhappy about the decision to sack him but don't want to have a go at the owners. For what it's worth, Pearson won't know/care if people clap in the 7th minute. The only thing it will achieve is boosting the santimony of his groupies and undermining the new manager.
