deep blue Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Sorry but that handball is a penalty. Zaha's is borderline as well. You're wrong about the handball shout!b. Many ex-players and pundits are too. They seem to confuse interpretations about "(un)natural position of the arm", which seem to have crept unnecessarily into post-match analysis, with the rules. In fact, the laws of the game are simple and unequivocal on this point - it can only be handball if the contact is deliberate. (If you don't believe that, simply look up the official rules)
trabuch Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 This squad is far superior to last season. We have better players and a years more experience. We also have a better manager now I think. Last season we'd have drawn or lost that game. You can't argue with that.
Christoph Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Maybe I'm the only one who thought it was a penalty then
EnglishOxide Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Sorry but that handball is a penalty. Zaha's is borderline as well. Same situation as Simpson last year vs Liverpool. That was very harsh, just as this one would have been very harsh. It's at the refs discretion and isn't stonewall either way. Same with Zaha really. Yes there is contact but he is already going over at the point of contact. I genuinely think he could have squeezed through the gap and stayed on his feet for a crack at goal if he wanted to. But his first instinct when he got into the box was to win a penalty.
ALC Fox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Poor old Pardew moaning about Ranieri 'goading' his players and not shaking his hand at the final whistle. While I agree that managers, players, and staff should shake hands after games in the interest of sportsmanship, Pardew is hardly an example of fine managerial behaviour on the touchline.
Mike Oxlong Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 When I see our players smiling, with pizzas in their eyes, instead egg on their faces, I am an happy bunny..
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Good game. First one I've been to for a while too. What planet is Schlupp on, btw? Sometimes he just seems really confused. He's not the most intelligent footballer.

I genuinely think he could have squeezed through the gap and stayed on his feet for a crack at goal if he wanted to. But his first instinct when he got into the box was to win a penalty. I don't think it was the same as the Simpson one at all. I don't think either example (Simpson or yesterday) was a handball but Simpson wasn't trying to kick it at Anfield, he just had his hand out to the side. Whilst I think the sensible conclusion in the Simpson case was that it was accidental, I could see why a poor referee might think it wasn't and as such give a penalty. The handball shout against Fuchs yesterday was nuts, he's had an air shot, not moved his hand from the position it was in when he was attempting to kick the ball 0.1 seconds earlier and people are saying it was deliberate? It's probably one of the worst shouts for a penalty I've ever seen and the fact that Murphy thought it was a penalty just goes to show what a clueless bellend he is (has he accepted that Vardy might be an ok player yet?) MOTD showing the Bamford one was just as bad in a sort of laugh-out-loud is-that-the-best-highlight-they-could-find way. The Zaha one I can understand being a talking point, but he's obviously dived. Whether "contact" is enough for a penalty (especially when it's so clearly over-engineered by the attacker). The laws actually talk about fouls involving "tripping" an opponent which certainly doesn't seem to be an applicable term when the opponent is already hurling themselves to the ground.
RowlattsFox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I've always felt if you handball as a result of a mistake on your part as in a miskick or mis control, then you are lucky not to give a foul away. I've said it before but I'd give indirect free kicks for handballs in the box unless it denies an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
Collibosher70 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Everything is London based..they don't like little leicester winning...as for pardew he can just feck off
CosbehFox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Alan Pardew what a dickhead. When Ranieri holds that ball, it's hilarious you can tell he wants to kick off.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 On the Zara incident the MOTD commentators says something like the more you look at it the more it looks like a penalty. What an absolute load of horse sh*te and is a sad indictment of the game that such an incident should even be considered to be penalty rather than a flagrant attempt at cheating. The law needs to be changed to discourage such blatant diving / cheating and he should have received a straight red. It would / could (depending on the last man interpretation) be a red card for the defender so why not a red for the cheating attacker? I'd be tempted to also take the ball down the other end and give the non diving team a penalty to totally even up the punishment and rid the game of this terrible plague. Great performance from the lads though. Drinkwater, Kante and Vardy were immense.
Jimothy Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 It's probably one of the worst shouts for a penalty I've ever seen and the fact that Murphy thought it was a penalty just goes to show what a clueless bellend he is (has he accepted that Vardy might be an ok player yet?) You could see Murphy wasn't happy last night when he had to praise Vardy. He couldn't say a bad word about him and you could see he wasn't enjoying it
MC Prussian Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Pizzas are on Claudio (well, sort of): http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/storify-getthepizzasin-2764206.aspx
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 And yet he managed a surging run in the 90th minute, so either he found some unbelievable reserves or energy or he just wasn't switched on properly for a period in the second half. I don't think you can look at Schlupp's work rate as if he's a normal human being because he just isn't. I'm not sure he was tired as such, more that he was off on Planet Jeff today as he is probably 1 in every 4 matches. Perhaps I'm being harsh and he was genuinely exhausted and then managed to roast the right back in the 90th minute, but to me it looked like he was lacking focus for a lot of the game today. As ever! Should not be starting ahead of Dyer as he simply lacks the PL quality that Dyer has. Imo being an athlete is no longer enough.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 There's been an awful lot of slagging off of Mike Dean on here, but he wasn't half good for us yesterday. Three penalty shouts, with all three debatable. Nice one Mike..
foxes161 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 The Match of the Day coverage was absolutely embarrassing tonight. Instead of giving us credit on a deserved win they completely spun it to make Pardew and Palace look hard done by. Even showing Bamford falling over for no reason as if there was some sort of claim for a penalty. I can accept the handball could have been given but the Zaha incident is one of the most obvious dives you'll ever see. I cannot believe people can watch that 5 or 6 times and feel sorry for him. It's almost as if in modern football it's a penalty to some people just because someone waves their leg out. If there is any contact it's extremely minimal and he throws himself down as if his feet have been taken away from under him. And shame on anyone on here who thinks we were lucky there. Forget any bias, If we'd have been given a penalty for that I'd think it was a shocking decision. We were lucky in the sense more often than not those are both given. If it was the other way around we would be feeling the same in fairness.
bovril Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Showing Vardy's best bits in the analysis. Surely you could show this in the main highlights instead of incessant replays of non-penalties. Football coverage in the UK is going down hill. *grumbles into his porridge*
foxes161 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 whatever happened to sky showing all the games after they were finished? when did they stop this?
The Guvnor Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Zaha may have had a case as there was slight contact however attempting to run between a tight gap between Schlupp and Fuchs and throwing yourself to the ground hasn't helped his cause. Ian Wright was a palace lad he didn't think Fuchs incident was handball, Ian's a great pundit incidentally.
Matt Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 whatever happened to sky showing all the games after they were finished? when did they stop this? They still do it. Well, I don't think it's the full game but it's extended highlights, certainly a good 45 - 60 minutes of the game. West Ham v Chelsea was the main game last night from 8pm, then from 10pm all the games were on the red button, and then they usually do it again the following morning, I watched this morning (7.30am), although I don't think they showed any of the 1st half from our game, think they showed pretty much all of the 2nd half though.

LCFC FOX Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 What the hell got Pardew's nickers in a twist then...? "Ranieri didn't shake my hand...but It's a long game, long memories you know. He's got to come to our place yet, we'll remember that." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyv42HFl49s yes we do still have to go to there place, and we'll remember what happened what there fans did to our flags when we go there. We will remember that.
foxfanazer Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I called it before the game that Cabaye actually does very little to influence games and that we would nullify him. Can't remember anything he did all game
