LanguedocFox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Lets not get ahead of ourselves, i dont want to kill the joy but all 3 of those sides are capable teams. Watford are a decent side and got a very good 2-0 win today and are tough to beat. West Brom have put together back to back wins and have a little bit of confidence growing. Any time you pick up points on the road in this league its a great result, so id be happy with 5 points, and 6 and above would be terrific. Agree entirely. We could get nine points, but we could get none. West Brom and Watford both won away games today and kept clean sheets, and who knows what will happen tomorrow after Newcastle's demolition of Norwich last week. At this stage, I would take five points if offered, three at a push. Nine points is a massive ask.
sly1 Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Yes defo win them 3 vardy on fire c,mon city top 6
HitchinFox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 To be honest, I saw today as a tough game and potentially one where we get a reality check. To come away with a 1-0 is a brilliant result and shows again how much we've improved on last season. Palace did the double over us last season, don't forget.I guess the reality check happened – but in a positive way. We found a way to punish the one single mistake the opposition made, which is exactly what teams did to us last season. For the first time this season I'm beginning to allow myself to believe that we are as good as the table suggests. Having said that, I'm still looking at the foot of the table and until we get those missing 20 points, I'll be nervous before every single game. We've got 28 games left to get those 20 points, so I'd be very, very happy with five points over the next three games.I'd be even happy with three points – as long as the win comes against that embarrassment in yellow which has anniversary celebrations each year to commemorate a play off semi final win.
4everfox Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Who's to say that we won't win any of the so called "tough games"? I'd fancy us against Chelsea right now I really would. None of those sides are unbeatable and I suspect that they won't be looking forward to playing us. In current form we are a pretty terrifying obstacle, we will have 27-30 points by 2016.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I'd honestly fancy us against anyone in this league at the minute, we won't go through the difficult Christmas period winless, just can't envisage it.
Rincewind Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Just want them to keep up the average points up until they have 40. The quicker the better. So 5 or 6 would do; Then 15 points in 20 games is very possible. It would also mean more than one team doing what we did last year and I cannot see 5 or 6 teams doing that apart from Chelsea whose players may wake up before xmasl
Dan Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 I think we'll get four points. Lose at West Brom, draw with Watford, and win at Newcastle.
ScouseFox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 When was the last time we lost to anybody who you wouldn't expect to finish in the top 6? Start of February? we've only lost twice in like 20 games or something haven't we? to chelsea when they were top and to arsenal who are now top. little bit of luck with vardy's chances at 1-0 vs Arsenal and we'd be top ourselves
st albans fox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Strange mix of pessimism, arrogance and optimism on here! I think we need not worry now about relegation. this squad is far too good to be relegated from this position. (Wow that's a brave statement yet I am comfortable making it - that's how far we've come). we should be pushing on so that next summer, the David Aranguiz's of the global game are happy to sign for us. So that when the offers come in for riyad and JV, they prefer to stay and continue the 'project'. To expect to win your next three PL games isn't realistic. Yes, it's possible but unlikely. 2 wins from these 3 games would be a very decent return.
foxinsox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 West Brom are a dull Pulis side, but grinding out wins. We have not done badly there recently though! Would take a draw. Watford need a lesson in football, I want 3 points from that one. Newcastle away is tough, but theres is a pisspoor team and ripe for the taking. I want 7 points, happy with 5 ecstatic with 9. We will pick up some points in Dec despite the fixtures. I fancy 3 at Liverpool, and this has to be the right time to play Chelsea! Forget relegation for this season, we are too good. Now lets win a Cup!
desertfox2 Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 6 tough games after these 3 so we need to pick up 5+. Without wanting to sound arrogant I think we can beat all three of them. As always there will be some shocks in the league over those 6 games. One I think could be a big shock in our favour is the Man City game on the Tuesday after boxing day. We have a very fit side and playing at home it's probably the best time to play them.
Captain... Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Strange mix of pessimism, arrogance and optimism on here! Yes, it's possible but unlikely. 2 wins from these 3 games would be a very decent return. This the fallacy in football supporting logic, take each game individually. In a one off game do you expect us to beat West Brom? The answer here should be yes, we beat them away and were the much better side at home, just undone by poor finishing one piece of awful luck and West Brom's anti football. In a one off game do you expect us to beat Watford? Yes, we are better than them In a one off game against Newcastle? Yes they are a shambles and one good win doesn't change that. Yet when you put the three games together it is arrogance to think we will win all 3. It is like tossing a coin, the odds of getting 3 heads in a row is slim, but once you have got one head the odds of the next toss being a head is still 50/50. Except with football form and confidence is important, so the odds on us beating Newcastle is greater if we have won our two previous games. For some reason fans see winning three games in a row as harder than winning those same three games when taken individually. Of course this is not to say we will, but we certainly can do it and Don Claudio will have the boys fired up ready to achieve it. Not one of our players is looking at that fixture list and thinking anything other than there are 9 points there.
crisp packet Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Don't believe the hype!!! Hate these threads . One game at a time ffs...
FireFox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 If we got all 9 points we would have a shot at being in 1st. Would be happy with 6.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Who knows, I tend to think our counter attacking style will suit when playing West Brom away. As has been said they are all winnable, but can't help think we are due a loss. Been saying that for 5 months though.
TJB-fox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Think we'll struggle against 3 more defensively minded sides (not Newcastle as much) as we'll have to actually break them down rather than just counter. Think we'll lose at West brom and draw the other two!
Bayfox Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Would take 5 points if offered now. However they come. Hate to say it but Watford look decent. WBA draw Watford draw Newcastle win. Wouldn't be the worst return.
foxfanazer Posted 25 October 2015 Posted 25 October 2015 Can't believe nobody has done the old joke of 'I'd take 8 points' yet. Slacking! Would anybody prefer 5 points to 6 and not lose? Would be better for momentum maybe. Nah me neither
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 West Brom - WIN. They really are nothing special, they will stay up because Pulis knows how to grind out a 1-0 when he needs to, but I think we are more than capable of causing them big problems and scoring a few. 1-2. Watford - DRAW. This will be a tricky one, they got a great result at Stoke this week so they've shown they are capable. However they do seem to struggle for goals at times, and I think they will try and frustrate us. First 0-0 of the season for us. Newcastle - DRAW. Tempted to say win but our record up there is poor so I'm saying draw. They have got their act together a bit recently, not necessarily getting the results, but playing better. They have a few individuals who can pop up with a bit of quality, but then again so do we. 1-1. 5 points would be a very good return. Puts us on 24 points, so effectively, we would then only need 4 wins and a few draws out of the last 25 games to stay in the division. What a time to be a Leicester fan. After all of those years in the Championship and League 1, we bloody deserve this. Next stop Europe
ithuriel Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Any game in this league can be tough, it is just nice to be almost halfway to the safety margin before November and looking like we can take a game to anyone in this league.
desertfox2 Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Just had a look at the fixtures, If we won our next 3 which is a big if but not impossible. Arsenal have to play spurs in the same period Man Utd have to play palace away Man City have to play Liverpool West Ham will almost certainly drop point. These 3 games give us a chance to go joint Top. Just let that sink in for a minute. Before anyone wants to P**s on my fireworks, not saying it will, one game at a time, not putting the kiss of death on it because in truth even to be in the position we are in at this stage 10 games in i'm already in dreamland. I love this side. If we are still in the Top say 6 by Jan I wonder if the owners would open the cheque book to a huge signing.
Number 6 Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 We just got 7 points from Norwich away, Soton away and Palace at home. Superb return. Would like 6 from the next 3, think that would be food continuation of form. Wouldn't be too disappointed with 5.
Finn Claw II Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 Averaging 2 points per game is champions league form. I'd be delighted with 6 points.
