Manchester United Home. Post Match Day Thread 1 - 1

Recommended Posts

So disappointed after yesterday's game. Not necessarily with the way we played but with our tactics.

We forgot our identity which has become our strength. When teams play Leicester now they have to adopt a different tactic to contain us whereas we don't change our style. Yesterday we allowed Manchester United to play their game and we suffered.

We sat so deep it was unreal. The substitutions were pretty bad too.

You know, Man U aren't a terrible side. If we weren't at our best yesterday it might be down to them not letting us.

This

We need to recognise that teams are going to change their tactics to nullify us. This was on the cards a while ago and so far we have coped against the less decent sides. The top teams are different though. Finishing above Utd remains in our hands!

I also think we scored too early yesterday. It felt that once Vardy scored it was 'job done'. If he had scored in the 70th min we may have fared better.

I think Schweinsteiger scored too early. Maybe he should've saved that goal for another match.

Dissapointed with the draw, feel we easily could have took all 3 points poor defending for there goal and thats about all they had to offer.

Yes they had a lot more possesion in the second half but didn't really create any clear cut chances, we wasn't at our best yesterday and we still managed to come away with a point so its not so bad.

Kante was the stand out for me yesterday was all over the pitch and was taking control in the middle and was spraying some nice passes around, Fuschs had another good game and glad Vardy got his record breaking goal, glimpses of class from Marhez and was unlucky with his effort.

Get 3 points at Swansea and this point will feel a lot better and we have still only lost once all season after 14 games, joint top, incredible season so far lets keep it up!!!!

Agree with most of that, but the substitutions were bad? Albrighton had been having a poor game and wasn't offering us anything. Yeah schlupp was poor when he came on but it at least gave darmian something to think about. Yeah maybe Dyer would have been a better choice but we cant know that.

Ulloa on for okazaki was the right call too. Man U were mullering us at the set pieces and getting some height on the field to cope with a big, physical man u team was a good decision. And De Laet on for Simpson was smart for me too, a lot of tired legs out there at the end so bringing pace on in de laet was a good call and he got stuck in when he came on.

Apart from the subs comment though, I completely agree with you that we lost our identity. In the first half, we were "fearless" and should have gone in at half time 1-0 or 2-0 up. Second half it was like we suddenly realised we were playing Man U in a top of the table class and we seemed like rabbits in the headlights. Which was a damn shame cos Man U were there for the taking as they posed absolutely no attacking threat all game, yet we still sat back.

Attack is the best form of defence and we did that really well first half. Shame we didnt continue like that as we would have won

I am sure CR didn't want a repeat of the Arsenal loss when considering his tactics, if Kasper hadn't changed his mind for their goal and Ulloa had buried his chance we would all be applauding the approach to yesterday's match.

After watching man utd yesterday, i think out of these tricky fixtures coming up, they will be the hardest of them all. People say they're boring to watch and thats because they look to keep the ball all game and not give the opposition any chances.

It is a different Man U to their reputation.Maybe out of necessity or maybe a show of respect to our attacking capabilities, to play 3 CBs is not the old Man U way.

For a team with two thirds possession they offered little in the final third and little goal threat

That said, although City were not at our best we showed the progress since the Arsenal game. The coming games against Man C,Chelsea, etc will give us an indication of just how far we have come and what more needs to be done.

Utd were lucky yesterday. Do we play zonal marking at set plays? Because there is no way Okazaki should of been marking the German. Poor second half from both teams. Well done Vardy.

Agree,it's dissappointng to concede from a set play again. OK,we are not a tall team but we have had time since conceding 2 at Soton to work this out.

Thought we played quite well yesterday. Claudio had it right when he said it was a real tactical battle out there. Both teams were trying to nullify the other, so in the end a draw was a good result.

Special shout-outs to Mahrez for his skills, Kante for his refusal to admit he is 1 player not 3 players, and of course, the impending club legend that is Fuchs. Corrrr that pass...

Really happy for Vardy too - still seems so grounded, despite everything!

It was a case of they stopped us most of the time and we did the same to them. I don't want fill our team with tall blokes just because we messed up one corner. I love this current team. We've only lost one match this season so what you all moaning about?

It was never going to be a repeat of last years game but at least we got a point to protect the records. I felt that because they had so much of the ball we lost a bit of our free spirited confidence. The time to put the result beyond doubt was after we scored. They were shocked and vulnerable, if we had a real go at them then we might have got a second which would have been game over.

Kasper should have come for the ball. that's the one area holding him back from being a top Keeper.

Also why didn't Morgan call Drinky to stay down when the ball was coming in. He was just behind DD and the ball was falling perfectly for him.

Set pieces. we need at least one of either Huth or Morgan standing in space and attacking the Ball. With Man to Man they don't have the legs to rise high enough to beat these tall strong and younger attackers like Smalling.

It was a foul on Shingy though and it's annoying the ref looking straight at it didn't give the free kick. But that doesn't excuse our poor positional play in defending it.

Ulloas chance second half he just didn't connect with it properly and that happens at times. But Vardy was in even more space further left. Does anyone feel Mahrez didn't pass to him because he didn't pass to him last week. Just a thought.

Overall a point was a fair result.
