TrentFox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 well considering they don't want to spend too much given the rumours who knows. We need to spend a good amount to get anybody decent and I'm not sure we want to do that. What rumours? Have I mised something??
Bamba's Babes Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri 22s23 seconds ago Leicester's 10m€ bid for Eder has been rejected by Sampdoria Mudahookers
whoareyaaa Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Would be happy with this myself, can't see us getting him though due to the circumstances.

According to whoscored he's been playing mainly as the main center forward, and occassionly left wing. I think, like Shinji, the club see him as a number 10, instead of a number 9.
4everfox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Italian strikers signed from Serie A normally struggle in the Premier League in recent times. See Balotelli, Osvaldo and Bianchi.
Riot Van Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Italian strikers signed from Serie A normally struggle in the Premier League in recent times. See Balotelli, Osvaldo and Bianchi. Balotelli and Osvaldo were good but they were just wankers
FoxFossil Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Ranieri is looking to build for Europe next season, when players like Eder would be ideal as part of a bigger, experienced, squad for a couple of years with youngsters being also being developed. He keeps telling us he is building, building- perhaps we should believe him? This signing fits with the owners medium term strategy, (alternatively could be cover for us signing A Ponce from Sampdoria - guess he'd fit right in.)
surrifox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 presumably Italians do business differently from Godfather days (assuming this is being done face to face rather than by fax e mail) "no-you don't buy me out - I buy you out" "I've got a flight booked to East Midlands first thing tomorrow- think about a price"
Jacnah Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 He might be a great signing, but this kind of signing worries me. The Italian league is technical and slow, it's so different playing in the fast paced Prem and even more so playing for us the fastest team in the fastest league. Sign this kind of player in the summer, but right now we should be looking at someone that has played in the Prem before and can slot straight in. I think your underlying point is a good one, but equally, I think we have to trust the staff to get it right. I'm sure they are highly concious of this point after the difficulties Inler, who is undoubtedly a very good player, seems to have experienced making the transition
foxes21 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Thing is though, yes Serie A is slow. But this guy looks quick on and off the ball, so his transition to the premier league will be easier then say Osvaldo, Balotelli & Inler who are not as quick as this guy.
Kitchandro Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 His goal scoring record doesn't exactly blow me away.
hackneyfox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 I don't really know too much about him but his goal record is decent. I almost find it hard not to trust what our scouting system believe is the right player for us, if that makes sense? When they've bought in the likes of Mahrez, Kante, and Vardy I honestly have total faith whoever they bring will only benefit the squad. Ulloa, Okazake & kramaric.
Babylon Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Ulloa, Okazake & kramaric. I've said before, that I think our scouting weakness has been strikers. It sounds odd when Vardy is smashing it, as he has been one of the best buys ever. But you look at their record here and at Hull and it's not a great hit rate for forwards, compared to other areas where they seem to pick gem after gem. I can be argued of course we've changed manager and players are being used differently or not at all to what they were of course. And that Ulloa did his job last year and Okazaki is now finding regular good performances.
Lesteban Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 From what I can tell it says we are likely to have a new 13m EUR bid accepted and he wants to move to us, providing Inter dont come in for him with a larger bid.
AKCJ Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 With a name like that he best be good in the air. Headline writers dream.
VLC86 Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Italian strikers signed from Serie A normally struggle in the Premier League in recent times. See Balotelli, Osvaldo and Bianchi. And what's the key component to our game which they all lack? Pace

More clubs than you could name have taken punts on strikers over the last few years that haven't paid off. And I'm really not sure you can use those 3 as examples of "poor" purchases to be honest, as much as Ulloa has annoyed me this season.
Beliall Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Maybe we shouldnt buy anyone. remember when newcastle bought Asprilla?

"Twist in house Samp ? Eder involved , Leicester lurking and at the door . First contacts already had , then the offer . Now , however , a new revival by the British . Offer that goes up to 13 million more bonuses , Sampdoria likely to accept leaving from the player . The boy is assessing the situation but seems inclined to transfer . However , he would like to understand if Inter would seriously but now the former Brescia seems directed towards the Premier League . Ranieri ahead of Leicester , less than sensational bid by the Nerazzurri between the days of today and tomorrow."
inckley fox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 It's hard to comment because I've never seen him play. The age doesn't worry me too much so long as we're constantly introducing young, upcoming talent as we are with Gray and Amartey, so to bring in a player for the next 6-18 months is fine, perhaps even with the price tag. I suppose it's natural to be concerned that he's from the Italian league, that we've seen Ranieri over-estimate the pedigree of experienced players coming from that league before (Inler, Benalouane) and there's a nagging question mark as to whether this is the fruit of our scouting team's tireless research, or (if it ever was the case with the two aforementioned players) another consequence of Ranieri saying 'hey, I know a guy in the Italian league who can do the job for us.' As for people saying 'if you're unhappy with this, look at the names we were being linked with just six months ago' - well, Kante and Fuchs worked out fine, one of which was unheard of, the other of which cost us nothing. The bigger names - namely Inler - weren't so hot. And when I think of strikers we were linked with 6-18 months ago - Deeney, Austin, Pelle among them - I can't help but feel we would have done well to take the plunge earlier with some of those names. Who knows, it could just be a ruse to push through a move for Carrillo. Or, of course, he could turn out to be the last missing piece in the puzzle.
FoxFossil Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 With a name like that he best be good in the air. Headline writers dream. Isn't he really called Citadin Marti? Brazillian strange name thing? (Pele springs to mind).
Max Power Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 This scepticism over players from Serie A seems a bit odd to me. Yes Inler hasnt worked out but Cambiasso did, Benalouane has done fine when he's played its just that Huth and Morgan have been broadly excellent. Coutinho and Arnautovic a couple of big successes from Italy to England in recent seasons. There's no real rule to whether someone will succeed or fail. Eder has the attributes to potentially both fit in to our style and give us something a bit different.
FoxFossil Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Wikipedia ' Full name Éder Citadin Martins 'Eder Leicestershire new striker £7.65m'.
