Gordon Banks statue

Martin O Neill was arguably our most successful manager in terms of top level silverware

Claudio could trump that

Let's hold off on statue talk for a little while

There might be a very obvious contender in a little while

why not have a statue at all 4 corners of the ground, like Arsenal?

A statue of Walsh winning the second tier play-off final would look a bit ridiculous if we won the league.

As great as Walsh, O'Neill and that side were the current side have eclipsed them and knocked their place out of history somewhat now. By that I don't mean they will be forgotten by those of us who saw and it and neither should they and I definitely won't forget them, but when people, either Leicester or non-Leicester fans grow up from now on and hear or learn or talk about the club's history it's going to be about Ranieri's side now and players like Vardy, Mahrez, King, Morgan, Drinkwater and Kante rather than O'Neill's side and players like Walsh, Lennon, Izzet, Elliott, Heskey and Taggart.

Personally I would like to see a statue of Peter Taylor hugging Junior Lewis - both true legends ...

Not if we finish 5th

We are writing history when we are living the present

Let's see what happens

Football is about tradition , without tradition we are nothing

So honouring the past is important to build bridges to the future

I agree with you 100% , but let's see how the future pans out

Personally I would like to see a statue of Peter Taylor hugging Junior Lewis - both true legends ...

And Dennis wise Should have a bar named after him lol

IF we win the league this season, it will be the greatest achievement that our club has ever made in 130 years, so we should have a statue to commemorate this season.

I say Claudio holding one arm of the Premier League trophy aloft with Big Wes holding the other, with Wes' other arm around a grinning Vardy.

A big if obviously!

Would rather see  some sort of wall of legends showing the great players from each era / decade.  They all had a part to play in where we are now.

Could be done in stone or bronze.

Agree. Cast face masks are the way to go I can't  see us ever agreeing on a single statue never mind organising and raising the cash for one

If we win the league, our history til now doesn't just evaporate.

Walsh against Derby was an absolutely massive moment for those of us that saw it. It still will be if we win the league.

We could win the champions league five times in a row and I'd still remember Claridge vs Boro fondly. It's our history, it's where we've come from.

We shouldn't forget that, however high we go.

John Sjoberg to Lloyd Dyer, via no nonsense Spencer Prior? How about Phil Gee, breaking free? Or Danny Tiatto?

The suggestion of a wall displaying all our legends from each era of our history is a top idea and would be easier to happen as there would be no arguments about one particular statue and who the statue includes. I could see this happening in the future possibly.

I hope the statue idea is ruled as a no goer, but how about a large wall plaque engraved with the Premiership Title winners 2015 - 2016  & showing the names of the first team squad?  Plus of course the names of the manager & his assistants.  Maybe even showing the final positions of all the teams in the Prem. that season?

That would be a permanent record of the achievement as opposed to a statue of someone that future supporters & visitors to the stadium will not have any memory of e.g. Arthur Rowley.    Arthur who?  Oh, only the greatest goal scorer in City's history!

In reply to a poster who says City didn't show any loyalty to Banks when they sold him to Stoke, imo they did exactly the right thing as it meant we held on to 16 year old Peter Shilton

I'm not seeing the argument against Banks at all.

Why has every ex-player got to suck our nobs every week to be considered a legend? We sacked the bloke off once Shilton turned up so we can hardly talk.

He was with us for 8 seasons, played in 5 cup finals and won the world cup FFS. He's generally considered to be one of the two greatest goalkeepers ever.

We should be proud of that. We should be milking that. This is as much for us as a club as it would be for him as a player.

Do it.

Why not Vardy tbh.

Broke record of 11 consecutive PL games scoring and one of the league's best dangerous strikers, only a few years after playing in non-league.

I thought this thread was about a statue for 'our' Gordon.... World Cup winner and one of the Ice Kings. Perhaps cases for other players should be in another thread ?? Just a thought.
