What I do not understand about Spurs fans...

As a Spurs fan I'd like to congratulate Leicester on winning the title, which you will do.

I attend every Spurs game home and away but rarely watch other teams on TV. Thus I can only judge your success by your results (which is all that matters anyway) and the number of clean sheets and narrow wins you've had indicates a fantastic mentality which is the difference between being very good and being a champion.

From our perspective I desperately want to win at Stamford Bridge on Monday for the first time in 26 years. It's the one regular fixture I've yet to see us win in person. If we do that we will have clinched 3rd place and almost certainly second and so it would end up being a very good league season. My one regret is getting knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Crystal Palace as I think we could have won that tournament.

I have not at any point seriously considered that we could win the League. After all we have never been top. There is no rivalry between our clubs and hence no animosity and thus, when you win it, enjoy the celebrations.

Indeed if you do so on Sunday I know that in the away end at Old Trafford will be some fans who, like I do with Spurs, go to every game and they are the people who I will be happy for the most. They, more than any others, having experienced numerous lows, will appreciate and savour the ultimate high.

Sorry buddy, we haven't won anything, thank you for your kind words

Come again? Your highly-praised Glory Glory forum features pretty much the same narrative, the same antipathy and belittling of us, with pretty much the same silly arguments made as on TFC:

http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/community/threads/who-or-what-was-the-turning-point-for-leicester-city.8136/

The only difference is that it comes across a somewhat more polite in terms of articulation.

The bottom line? Spurs fans don't like us because we're standing in their way of winning the league for the first time in 55 years. But who can begrudge them for such a sentiment? Heck, I'd be pissed if I was a Spurs fan seeing "little Leicester" riding high.

Problem is, we could turn this argument by 180 degrees and say that Spurs are standing in the way of us winning the title for the first time ever. :D

Tottenham have to be admired for their mostly positive approach in matches, for flooding the opposing half with their own players, piling on pressure and impressing with slick passing and a teamwork and workrate similar to ours. They have a young squad that should reach its peak in a few years and they'll do very well again next year, I reckon. They've also successfully broken through the Premier League oligopoly. Unfortunately for them, apart from the London rags, the whole media spotlight is on us due to the stark contrast to last season and the club's history in general.

I wish Spurs fans would have more appreciation what we're achieving here on a relative shoestring budget.

I love the fact that for probably the first time in 55 years Tottenham look like they'll finish above Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc at the same and still they might not win the league.

That's absolutely hilarious.  lol

Sorry buddy, we haven't won anything, thank you for your kind words

Agreed, come back if we do win it.

No time for some of their fans who called us a one man team and laughed when Vardy was suspended announcing that our bubble has burst and our wheels have fallen off etc etc FOOKING etc!!

Where would their goals come from ha ha was a few spud fans comments, well Mahrez Ulloa 2 and Albrighton so I think spuds that shows were not a one man team in fact when 11 are on that field we are a unit of brothers who will fight for each other and spuds you are only jealous of our position in the league !!

I still can't believe we are only 3 points away from being crowned champions and when Vardy comes back well and truly rested and will definitely want the golden boot makes you think what will happen in the last 2 games?

So proud of our team and their achievements this season and with King Claudio at the helm who knows where this ride could take us ?

Posted

As much as I would like to say good luck next time to the spuds, I can't.  Their team has looked unstoppable at times and we have given their side credit for that.  You won't find any such generosity from the spuds about us though.  Bitter, shrivelled losers.

I recommend a quick trip to the spurs forum.  Such hatred and such bitterness!  But most of all, the ridiculous sense of entitlement!!!  They really think it should have been them despite never being top (we've had 20 wks), despite winning less games than us and despite losing more games and despite never really coming close.  And despite us having two players of the year, apparently we've been lucky ....every week!

Take a quick look and revel in their misery.  Spuds tears are porn for me.

amusing that they are discussing Kante release clause but don't want him as a 'back up' to Dier and Dembele...forget that they where on the PFA player of the year shortlist!

Posted

This post isn't about their fans as such, but as a club and the players.

I used to like Spurs, think they were alright, but after Monday night's showing, how dirty I realised they were, I really don't like them at all, there was no need for their players to react like that on Monday.

Forget what their fans have said about us all season, I haven't said anything to slag them off all season, but some of their fans have, most infact I think, but we've been in competition all season, I get that, that can be swept under the carpet but just the way their players were on Monday, it was disgusting.

I absolutely fucking hate Arsenal, but would love them to finish 2nd now and Tottenham to drop to 3rd (Or 4th even but not sure that's possible), I would find that highly amusing. Also, whilst I hate Wenger, finished 2nd would be a finger up towards the Arsenal fans of whom I despise almost as much as Wenger.

As it happens I met a real life Spurs fan last night - a grown adult with whom I had a good chat about what's just happened and our respective chances going forwards, no bitterness or animosity rose its head once.

The "Mighty Spurs vs the Chavs" was just delicious reading, going two nil up and basking in glorious delight then coming crashing down to earth followed by a massive face plant into disappointment as Hazard scored the equalizer. Wonderful stuff.

Posted

In the last 2 decades, we've won more then them.

I'll laugh at any sense of entitlement from them. Fair enough they have a young team and if it stays together, they might be a force. But they're young. They haven't challenged for titles before. Don't expect them to win the first time they come 'close'.

The team had a poor start. (Maybe because Kane wasn't scoring because the pressure of people saying he was a one season wonder). We beat them away in the game that mattered. They mentally we're never ready to grind out results and chase us down.

Posted

Eat dirty Maryland with a few when they beat us in the cup. They thought we were the best organised team in the league and that we would win it.

TFC just seems full of tits though.

As it happens I met a real life Spurs fan last night - a grown adult with whom I had a good chat about what's just happened and our respective chances going forwards, no bitterness or animosity rose its head once.

Before we all get cast with the same sweeping generalisation of being arrogant, over entitled, low life, based on probably the worst of our several forums The fighting cock, it's worth considering that the vast majority of Spurs fans don't fall into the above category. as with most forums, the anonymity afforded means people can pretty much say what they like, and many of these comments are made by people who haven't even been to a Spurs game. so they need to be treated in some cases with a pinch of salt, because whilst purporting to 'support' our club, they in fact sometimes do more harm than good.

On probably the best moderated forum Shelf Side Spurs (a coincidence) there is a congratulations to Leicester thread, with about 65 posts acknowledging your deserved fantastic success on merit and additionally in some cases recognising the budget you have achieved it with. It appears that none of this is begrudging in any way...in fact if it wasn't for us being your closest challengers, then I'd say all spurs fans would have wished you win the title as well.

With regard to Monday night, the rivalries in London amongst the 'bigger clubs' is intense, fierce, hateful and full of spite. The Chelsea game was always going to be horrible and nasty before a ball was kicked. Fabregas and Hazard ensured that, but the fans and rest of the players as well. There are no excuses for some of the players actions on both sides, but as a Spurs fan of over 40 years the only pride I can take from the 'battle' is that we have been considered a soft touch for too long and it was good, in most instances to see our players stand up to the obvious Chelsea wind up tactics....at least until we lost our composure completely in the final 15 minutes. What seems to have gone unnoticed is that there were 3 very good goals, including a brilliant equaliser from Hazard. Whilst it felt like a loss at full time, not in the title race, because I think that was done after the WBA draw....we did in fact draw and got a vital point, which will hopefully ensure second place.

On reflection now, we will have to take the punishment from the FA, whatever that may be, because we were culpable. What we find amusing however is the pathetic stance of many of the Chelsea fans, probably because of the nature of the rivalry mentioned above. They celebrated like they had won the title for you....basking in reflected glory....they hadn't. You won the title on your own, which would have been almost certainly proven had we won on Monday night or not. They have short memories....very few were Ranieri fans when they sacked him, for amongst other things, not having the ability to win a title. In short a bunch of hypocrites at best, They should look at their own players first, and their abject season, with multi million pound players and title defence, including Fabregas and Hazard, together with Costa, Matic and others who simply haven't turned up at all this season and got their 'special one' sacked. Guus Hiddink, along with Ranieri is another Gentleman, probably why he is leaving.

Apologies for the mild rant, but as far as I'm aware there is absolutely no animosity between Leicester and Spurs at all, at least amongst proper fans. I and thousands of others wish you, the players and fans every success again next year both in the Premier League and in Europe. I of course hope the finishing positions in the league are reversed, because if that happens, it will be two almost perfect seasons on the trot....just need to beat Southampton first!!

I'll stick around on here next season if I may, it will be good discussing the Champions league (can you believe it??) this is a good forum with some good posters and content.

Enjoy Saturday evening.......pace yourselves on the drinking front, you'll want to remember every second of it. All the best.

Well I enjoyed watching some of the football Spurs played this season. They made it a great competition and boy the bastards had me buying me nails at times. Used to love their Ardiles/hoddle era and the FA Cup song will always be in my mind... Cvnts!!

I'm gonna wish them all the best for next season(as long as it's not at the cost of us!) And I think all the baiting should stop as it makes us look cheap in victory.

We won, I hope they come 2nd,great competition, they lost their heads in the end but wouldnt we have?...COYB...let's get rid of bad vibes...only hood vibes for Sat!!!! X

Hated Spurs through the run in. When playing, I've cursed at and taken out good friends battling against them, done the same to those I'm not too fond of. It's 90 minutes of forget the world, this is all that matters. That being said there's a lot to be said for 'friends after the game'. Games over now so for me i soften my tone again.

As to the spurs fans and our fans still fighting.....to each their own. I don't know many spurs fans but understand their animosity towards us this season as we fought a great battle to be crowned Champions. It's over for this year and the end result for me is to enjoy the feeling of winning the title and to close the book on the negativity we have given and received....that is until the next battle we face with them or another team.

So for me congrats to the spurs team and the spurs fans that fought hard for their team this year and i hope for my mate you come second. I also hope we will have the opportunity to battle it out again which will include the hard play and insults. It's only banter of the battle from my perspective.

Great season for both teams and had we come second, I would have had the same perspective as we would have given it our all trying.

If attractive football won titles, the side Jimmy Bloomfield put together would have won 6 league titles. Without doubt the most attractive side in the first division during his reign.

Of course we'd all love to win trophies with fantastic play, but give me 1-0 boring wins and trophies any time.

I've no time at all for spuds, I loathe them and I'm glad we've beaten them to the title and I'm be pleased if Arsenal overtake them for second too.

It's not just me too,

I find loathing for tottingham from many clubs around the UK, even more than Man Ure. There is just something about them. Don't care if they are the 'best' team (they are not) and play the best football. It means nothing when you win nothing, as the wonderful team Jimmy Bloomfield built shows.

Enjoy Saturday evening.......pace yourselves on the drinking front, you'll want to remember every second of it. All the best.

I'd like to put you right on a few things, 1st:There were NO wind up tactics from Chelsea, none at all, talk about soft excuses (unless you consider Chelsea scoring a goal a wind up, I do realise some Spurs fans, like their players, think it's just not cricket to score a goal against them)

2nd: You do have a short memory, either that or you're hoping others on here do & won't be able to tell when you are telling porkies. Chelsea fans loved Raneri till the very last day, many complained about the club talking to Erikson behind his back, & many didn't want him to leave. I am a Chelsea fan so I think I know a bit more about this than you, with respect (mock respect, admittedly). Claudio improved our position year on year--6th, 6th, 4th, 2nd. We were disappointed that he mucked up our CL semi against Monaco with his tinkering but our affection for him never waned, how could it, he's a lovely approachable man.

You mention the gentleman Hiddink returning, well why wouldn't he? As he said, he'd have only done that for Chelsea.

Never ceases to amaze me the outright bitterness you see from Tottenham fans--as a Leicester fan on here says about the 3rd biggest club in London who have achieved very little for a very long time.

Finally--Leicester & Claudio are sure to get a rapturous reception at the Bridge & rightly so.

P.S If you understand anything about English football you'll understand why we celebrated like winning the cup, as you put it (or winning the Lge as Kane put it, although how he'd know what that is like I don't know). It was because we knew we had put the final nail in your coffin in regards to you winning the Lge, your pipe dream was over & it was wonderful to witness.

Congratulations to the new Champions, very well deserved.

have to agree spurs lost the plot in that match and were a shambles. what they did had nothing to do with showing they're not a pushover, quite the opposite they actually showed in this instance what a pushover they can be. great 2nd half for us

cheers on the congratulations

Chelsea were doing exactly the same early in the game. Fabregas kicked out at Dembele, Willian went in on Rose, Terry constantly shoving Kane and not to mention the elbow on Vertonghen. To say Chelsea are complete innocent is a joke.

For Dembele v Costa, Costa has a hold of Dembele's neck as well.

Not defending any of our actions but Chelsea weren't exactly acting like perfect players. Surrounding the referee as soon as the whistle went for each foul.

I think football needs to go like rugby and only the captains and the offender should be spoken to. Everyone else should be told to move away or incur a caution.

All your success if hollow. Funded by Russian mafia $$$. We are doing it the right way. So we haven't won much lately but that looks very much like changing.

No wind up tactics? They started before the game when Fabregas and Hazard piped in saying they wouldn't let us win the league, basically they would have scored 100 own goals if it went to the last day.

Hope Cesc's hand amputation went well. Heard he had to get Costa to wipe his vagina after the game as well.

I have no issue with the celebrations. It shows how far we've come that the biggest thing Chelsea could celebrate this season was Spurs not being able to win the league.

Also, where was your players fight from Monday all season? Laughable. You'd be right up there with us and Leicester had your players played like that 75% of the season.

We are the better aide than Tottenham.

Does anyone here think if we had gone 1-0 up v West Brom and 2-0 up v Chelsea that we'd thrown it away? Especially in this crucial stage. Our game management is vastly superior to Tottenham, it's not even up for debate. We know how to see games out because we actually have bottle and intelligence. The pressure got to Spurs on Monday and they completely disgraced themselves.

They can say what they like about our "boring" consecutive 1-0 wins but we proved that we are worthy champions.

I hate that in this footballing culture being entertaining is seen as being better.

And BTW, they've scored 67 goals. We've scored 64 goals. But listening to them you'd think we are Wimbledon in their prime and they are peak Barcelona under Pep.

Good post sir. If I were to put my Chelsea hat on I can understand how they enjoyed "denying" you the title the other night - I'm sure we would both respectively enjoy that if the boot were on the other foot, so to speak.

But then, after the dust had settled, I'd be left with a feeling of "where has these players fighting spirit been all season?"

As for Spurs, well they did lose their heads a bit on Monday but it was a hell of game to watch. They are a young side though and hopefully they will learn from this and come back stronger.
