bovril Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Chaz 'n Dave. Good news. It's lucky for Spurs when the year ends in one. Title's ours.

Taunting us about what exactly. That the gap has gone from 2 points to 5 in the last 6 games.
Kitchandro Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 It doesn't really matter how much the two sides cost. I think we've been bloody entertaining regardless. Babs is right in that our style has changed a few times over the season. But our breaking with pace is absolutely stunning to watch. As is Mahrez in possession. As is Drinkwater spraying balls around. As is Vardy skinning someone for pace or Albrighton whipping in crosses like an artillery gunman. Our performance at Man City was one of the most beautiful you're likely to see. Jabbing at the jugular for most of the 90 minutes. We've had several matches like that. Some have been harder to create chances in and the odd one has been extremely poor and boring, like with any side who's performing below their best. Both sides play lovely football at their best. Us sitting deep and defending a lead is no more boring than when Spurs decide to dominate possession in the middle of the park without creating many chances. Beautiful football isn't judged on how many passes there are in a move. I've never found Barcelona or Spain entertaining. They're brilliant, but the possession game can be tiresome to watch as a neutral. Until they spring into action of course. I don't think it's relevant what our expectations as a club are. If you're moaning about our style then you simply haven't watched us enough.

If you're moaning about our style then you simply haven't watched us enough. Interestingly 2 and possibly 3 of the goals (can't remember if it was a goal or that miss by Dele Alli) against Stoke came from quick breaks...so both Spurs and Leicester have changed styles accordingly during the course of the year, we were certainly more stuck on the retaining possession mantra earlier in the season, which admittedly had more than it's fair share of dull moments and if you only play one way you get found out in the end. There's no way that you can play like you did against Everton away or Arsenal at home all season, you'd lose as many as you win however entertaining it might be. good day for penalties that one eh?
spursy Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Problem is, there is also a national media based in London who picked up on these tweets and the next thing you know, Kevin Friend is being mentioned in every paper, on every radio station, on every tv station as a Leicester fan, which he isn't, and his impartiality and integrity called into question. Social media may be full of idiots but it's a very powerful thing when the media seems to be picking up on Spurs conspiracy crap and using it against us. Spurs fans say we're doping, the Times runs an unsubstantiated doping story. They accuse us of match fixing and ref conspiracies and refs get changed. They whine we keep getting the benefit of decisions going in our favour and we get a ref who on his previous involvement in Leicester games has made some of the strangest decisions against us I've ever seen and proceeded to do so again. I could go on but it's 2.15 and I'm tired but I'll just say those fans may only be fans but they have the Spurs supporting media backing them up and warping opinions further. We don't have that and to be honest, I'm not sure I'd even want it. Dirty tricks is not the way to win the league imo. It's funny, because Spurs fans have been complaining about the media being against or ignoring them. Our biggest beef was that we were not getting our dues. I guess from the prism of a fan, you always feel slighted.
spursy Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I think what mostly got peoples goat was that many Spurs fans that we came across refused to admit we've played a few different ways this year. I don't think any of us would deny we've gone more defensive since say the Man city game. Due to it finally dawning on us that we had something to hold on to, as well as people using different tactics against us. Even before that we'd put in some very defensive performances, against you and even United at ours stick out. But, we have to play like that against teams with a higher quality of player. Your centre backs and your midfield cost a pretty penny and as you'd expect come with the qualities that money buys you, this enables you to play it around a bit more. If we rocked up at your place and tried to take you on at your own game, we'd most probably fail. We learned our lesson early against Arsenal, where we tried to attack all the time and got ripped apart. This team was built for survival and not a title challenge, if we tried to knock it about every game we'd probably be about 10th. People moaning about our style (which as you admit has changed throughout the season) just seems crazy to me. Leicester.... LEICESTER are top of the league 5 points clear with a starting 11 that cost under £22m. It's ridiculous, utterly mental, even if we hadn't been top scorers in the league for a huge chunk of the season and were defensive every game (which hasn't been the case), it still seems pathetic to try and pick faults in what has been achieved (not aiming at you, but other fans and dick heads like Souness) People shouldn't expect us to play like Barca, we should be expected to play like a team that cost sod all. We're under no obligation to entertain anyone out side of Leicester... and we're deliriously entertained. If people are ashamed that we might win the league, then everyone needs to look at their own teams issues, don't slate us for it. Those are very fair points and cannot disagree with any one of them. Great post.
brisfox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Hell will freeze over before you get any praise for Spuds from me! Horrible, arrogant club with horrible, arrogant supporters! I dropped my keys at White Hart Lane. The club were nice enough to send them back to me without charge. If they beat us, I say well done to them. If we beat them , well done to us
Babylon Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Hell will freeze over before you get any praise for Spuds from me! Horrible, arrogant club with horrible, arrogant supporters! I think that's a shame, it is hard to separate how you feel about some fans and how you feel about the team. Personally I think there is a lot to be admired about Spurs and what they have done, the manager has done an incredible job and he has given the young players they bought in a chance to grow, playing some decent footy. It's just about the dream of any fan. I would hope any sensible Spurs fan would have a similar sentiment about what we've done considering where we were this time last year and the year before, how much we've spent etc. It's a shame that the fighting cock seemed to be the site we happened upon first, as they seemed to be just a bunch of sore losing, ungracious idiots.
MrLuke Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Not sure if this is someone on here, but this is classic.

If they win the title I'd have to consider an overdose!
shen Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 We are pretty boring, a few decent passing moves in a game doesn't make us great entertainers. We're a team of battlers with the odd bit of class that is able to win us games. Aside from Man City away, I can't remember a performance since before Christmas that I thought we totally overwhelmed the opposition and deserved a big win. Possibly Stoke at home? Though I missed that one. We were ironically brilliant in the draw against WBA. We should've won that 4 or 5-2.
filbertway Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 We were ironically brilliant in the draw against WBA. We should've won that 4 or 5-2. Thats a fair one actually. Is that the game that Vardy and Okazaki were having a crossbar hitting competition?
SystonFox Posted 22 April 2016 Posted 22 April 2016 That sky advert about the title race where you can clearly hear Spurs fans "Leicester city we're coming for yow" :face palm.jpeg: THEYRE COMING
HighPeakFox Posted 22 April 2016 Posted 22 April 2016 Life is very strange sometimes. I just went to the shops and passed some guy that lives in my building. Known him best part of 2 years. Lo and behold he had a Spurs beanie on. We had a very pleasant chat. His take is that if Spurs are to win it will only be by goal difference.

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 22 April 2016 Posted 22 April 2016 Thought I'd start a topic in these. If you look at their forum, they seem to have a real hatred for us, so much so that I have been banned from it for asking a question on whether they can cope with pressure? Obviously not as them being at the top only lasted ten minutes against the Gooners. Anyway not sure why their thick fans call us cheats considering we should have had a definite penalty at our place when Mahrez was fouled in the box; plus the thick Cockney ***** should remember they got a dodgy penalty in the Cup game. Makes me laugh how they were also singing "Leicester City we're coming to get you" ...

Bottom line, though, there are idiot supporters in every team.

cs194 Posted 29 April 2016 Posted 29 April 2016 As a Spurs fan I'd like to congratulate Leicester on winning the title, which you will do. I attend every Spurs game home and away but rarely watch other teams on TV. Thus I can only judge your success by your results (which is all that matters anyway) and the number of clean sheets and narrow wins you've had indicates a fantastic mentality which is the difference between being very good and being a champion. From our perspective I desperately want to win at Stamford Bridge on Monday for the first time in 26 years. It's the one regular fixture I've yet to see us win in person. If we do that we will have clinched 3rd place and almost certainly second and so it would end up being a very good league season. My one regret is getting knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Crystal Palace as I think we could have won that tournament. I have not at any point seriously considered that we could win the League. After all we have never been top. There is no rivalry between our clubs and hence no animosity and thus, when you win it, enjoy the celebrations. Indeed if you do so on Sunday I know that in the away end at Old Trafford will be some fans who, like I do with Spurs, go to every game and they are the people who I will be happy for the most. They, more than any others, having experienced numerous lows, will appreciate and savour the ultimate high.

I find glory-glory to be the most respectful of the lot. Bottom line, though, there are idiot supporters in every team. Come again? Your highly-praised Glory Glory forum features pretty much the same narrative, the same antipathy and belittling of us, with pretty much the same silly arguments made as on TFC: http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/community/threads/who-or-what-was-the-turning-point-for-leicester-city.8136/ The only difference is that it comes across a somewhat more polite in terms of articulation. The bottom line? Spurs fans don't like us because we're standing in their way of winning the league for the first time in 55 years. But who can begrudge them for such a sentiment? Heck, I'd be pissed if I was a Spurs fan seeing "little Leicester" riding high. Problem is, we could turn this argument by 180 degrees and say that Spurs are standing in the way of us winning the title for the first time ever. Tottenham have to be admired for their mostly positive approach in matches, for flooding the opposing half with their own players, piling on pressure and impressing with slick passing and a teamwork and workrate similar to ours. They have a young squad that should reach its peak in a few years and they'll do very well again next year, I reckon. They've also successfully broken through the Premier League oligopoly. Unfortunately for them, apart from the London rags, the whole media spotlight is on us due to the stark contrast to last season and the club's history in general. I wish Spurs fans would have more appreciation what we're achieving here on a relative shoestring budget.

Thanks (if we win it of course), I think your team will be challenging for the title for a good few years now.
