Matt Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 But there may be more than one team (Arsenal) interested in him if he really shines. Let's, for example, say that PSG like the look of him. Surely, they may come and in make a £30m offer just to get their man? I'd give up mate It'd mean fuck all what anyone offers. If PSG offered £30m as in your scenario, it wouldn't give PSG a better chance because if Arsenal offered £20m they could still talk to him, we could reject that just because PSG have offered £30m, all it'd mean is PSG are wasting £10m. It's what they offer to Vardy that gives them a better chance of getting their man, what they offer us is irrelevant.

Surely, they may come and in make a £30m offer just to get their man? Why would they offer more money?! The only extra money they would need to offer (to tempt the player) would be a more lucrative contract.
UPinCarolina Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Until he actually leaves, we should avoid slagging him. We're welcome to slag everyone else, however.

Surely, they may come and in make a £30m offer just to get their man? No, because an offer of £20m would trigger the release clause too from them, so why would they offer more.

Surely, they may come and in make a £30m offer just to get their man? So what if they do? They won't. Because Vardy's release clause is £20m, so that's all they have to offer, and we're obliged to accept. One team, two teams, five teams, eleven teams - it's all an irrelevance. why would anybody bid more when we can't turn down anybody meeting the clause?
Legend_in_blue Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Reading some of the comments on here is comedy gold.

StanSP Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 This guy also said he's having a medical this weekend, yet Vardy's apparently been with his family all weekend?
Salieri Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 champions league teams wouldn't offer more as they can activate the release I give up
ousefox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/status/739538134770274305It'd make a better end to the movie to show your loyalty Jamie
simon789us Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Wonder if Cattermole has a 20 mil release clause because everyone else does
Larry_LCFC Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Stay with us Vardy and finish the story. More to life than money! Stay where people love you.
lgfualol Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Whats the gut feeling gents? I'm not optimistic 99% gone made his mind up on Friday night
rmahrez Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I had convinced myself he had gone. Apparently its still in the balance. By agreement with LCFC, does he mean a potential new contract with Vardy, or the fee with Arsenal?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Whats the gut feeling gents? I'm not optimistic Still think he'll be gone
SecretPro Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Who gets to decide that anyone is, factually, a legend? According to the dictionary definition, he would be a very good example of a legend. Lots of legends haven't been especially loyal, of course. In football and outside of it. I'm not one of the people throwing their toys out of the pram, slating his wife, slating Vardy, spewing out the sort of nonsense which - if he were to catch wind of any of it, which he already has via his wife - may or may not sway any 'do I? don't I?' decisions. And I'm not the one moaning that he's 'no longer a club legend' when anybody with the slightest grain of reason left in them would concede that, whether he goes or not, yes he is. The point I made, in response to a poster being called a 'fool' for calling Vardy a 'legend', was that there's nothing in the definition of a legend which indicates that someone can't sign for Arsenal. And there still isn't. If that's boring for you, then by all means ratchet up the discussion by saying something more interesting. I don't want to offend but seriously, I rarely see you discuss anything on this forum without being sanctimonious. Just have a chin wag, offer an opinion, have a laugh. Not everything has to be an essay written to belittle and make yourself feel supreme.
VLC86 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I had convinced myself he had gone. Apparently its still in the balance. By agreement with LCFC, does he mean a potential new contract with Vardy, or the fee with Arsenal? Arsenal few I guess.
49er Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I reckon he'll stay. I do too. I think if he was set on going, the announcement would have come today
apple987 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I think basically arsenal want his decision ASAP or otherwise they will look at other targets. I bet the medical and concluding of the deal won't be until after the euros.
KFS Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 https://twitter.com/AFCAMDEN/status/739529918170705921 Don't quote people like this, they're a freakish fan base who have signed some of the worlds greatest via Twitter, but then 'magically' don't materialise.
