Real shame for West Ham to be thrown out of Upton Park with nowhere to go and stumbled upon the new place, despite the pitch being too big, the capacity being too high and it not being a football stadium.

Anyone would think, listening to Martin Tyler and the like, that West Ham have been punished for this move.

If they do get relegated (and of course it's massively early days) they'll be playing in a half full stadium next season. The atmosphere will be absolutely dreadful..and it ain't good now

Will be very funny when they get 14,000 for the visits of Burton Albion, Rotherham and Brentford next season!

1 season wonder alongside Kante and Mahrez? :dunno:

(Of course we all know Mahrez isn't a 1 season wonder, but in the eyes of the media and other teams fans he's only had 1 good season)

Kanté had a great spell for Caen before he joined Leicester.

Surely not a 1 season wonder...

Would it be half full?

West Ham's fan base is good and pretty big. 40,000 were there midweek to watch them against Accrington Stanley.

Could see a CL team come in for Antonio in Jan.

Well, maybe not an English team, don't see any needing him, unless maybe an Arsenal winger gets a long term injury. Maybe Chelsea/Man U though or abroad.

I think so.

The circumstances now are very different...new stadium, in the Prem, some new players, hopeful in the cup...

You see how many will go if they get relegated and have to play Preston on a wet Tues eve. With half their squad sold.

Very different.

Would be quite crazy of West Ham going down, after all this investment.

Investment on what though?

Ayew and Zaza, two forwards, one long term injured, both absolute dross.

Masuaku....the less said the better

Gohkan Tore.......thought he would be an excellent signing, has unfortunately been a flop

Feghouli....no impact

Cant think of anyone thats standing out really.

I was more thinking to do with the stadium and other things their chairmen have been doing really.

They got the stadium on the cheap and don't even run it themselves.

Definitely a media darling

they just had the commentary team discussing how the pitch is bigger and the players are not conditioned for it

despite all premier league pitches where construction allows have to be the same exact size

I thought that the rules governing overall pitch size were more guidelines - min/max size rather than exact, so they can and do vary a lot.

its not a myth

this is the premier league ruling

K.15. Unless otherwise permitted by the Board, in League Matches the length of the pitch shall be 105 metres and its breadth 68 metres.
K.16. The Board shall only give permission to a Club for the dimensions of its pitch to be other than as set out in Rule K.15 if it is impossible for it to comply with Rule K.15 due to the nature of the construction of its Stadium.

That rule isn't really enforced; us, Stoke, Chelsea, Liverpool, Burnley, Tottenham, Everton and Palace all have smaller pitches than that (last season, anyway) - most of those only shorter by 4.5m and narrower by half a metre

Stoke apparently have made theirs the mandatory size and we must've as well as UEFA are very strict on their pitch sizes.

of course the ruling is enforced but there is an caveat which as i put in the original post ruling K.16

the only clubs that don't comply with ruling K.15 this season is Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham and it must be because the stadium construction does not allow them to comply with it

we changed our pitch dimensions at the beginning of last season (15/16) to comply with the regulations

Sure you are all looking forward to tonight's big game at Turf Moor as you prepare for the Champions league tomorrow.

Well we did win 7-4 there once!

(I'd take a scrappy 1-0 but wouldn't be surprised if we lost - just be typical of us after the Man U win..)
