HankMarvin Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Didn't play well enough when given the chance. Can hardly blame Roy. Got man of the match on his debut
soulsister Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Look we all know the real reason !!! Nothing to do with Performance or the man its simple too many ''R'' s in his name !!! would of made Woy look like a right C*** after every interview....
st albans fox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 The only issue is if DD believes he has to move to get selected Otherwise it doesnt matter till the manager changes
Shelf Side Spurs Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Poor decision on both Drinkwater and Townsend......none of, Henderson, Barkley, Sterling or Lallana should be ahead of them on current form.
fuchsntf Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 So a team win the PL title, and have 2 representatives in the Euros...1 welsh Andy King. In whole English Squad 1 English player J.Vardy.who may well be played out of position. Drinkwater has had no outstanding game in the international friendlies, but he isnt that type of Player...hes simply solid.Good for city, danny gets a summer rest, but not for England, who miss out.I will tell why, even from posters on here..Danny is very underrated, because he does his consistent simple job of turning the ball over. Again taking 3 injury prone players is totally wrong...Henderson, Wilshire and Sturridge. Thats the other reason DD should of gone. Not against Rashford brings some youthfull Care free exhuberence.Could be a great sub (like Grey for us ). Sturridge not done enough..Wishire walking waste of space if he cant play at 100% in at least 2 games.Henderson scrapes in on experience, after seemingly recovering ,could be a good solid player supporting Ali and Dier, if the 2 spurs players are given their freedom. Barklay, is a very lucky boy after a poor last half of the season. Unlike some I like lallana, but he does drift out of too many games. The major point again, nobody understood the Leicester style. Roy should of seen over that, not played to the media favourites and played safe, but should of chosen the best English midfielder this season..Danny Drinkwater. Roy Hodgsons rivals are rubbing their hands with glee, knowing they themselves would of chosen him...a title winner !!!! Now Roy..go and Balls it up altogether!!! Pick Vardy out of postion. Now to all supporters..the choices have been made.Lets still support THE ENGLISH TEAM....
Webbo Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 He was Man of the match against Australia (radio) what else could he do Was that woman's hour? He had a 6/10 game. I would have picked him myself but lets not kid ourselves he'd have been a squad player at best.
Swarles Barkley Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 What a pathetic message this sends out to the country. You can do your best and be the best you can be but someone far less deserving will be ahead of you
Donut Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I suppose the idea behind the selection is that if he wants to use a 4-2-3-1 formation, then he wants to use Vardy and Rashford as his wide options either side of Kane. However weve already seen that Vardy is ineffective in a wide role. And its a waste of a 20+ goal striker with lots of assists. The other preferred formation we have seen, is a 4-4-2 diamond formation. I dont see how this will work now either, considering Dier would be the base of the diamond, no problems there, but then youre looking at one of Henderson, Barkley or Milner in an advanced position. Henderson and Milner offer nothing in the way of creativity, whereas Barkley has had a mare of a season. Im making this assumption because the natural position for Alli or Rooney must surely be the number 10 slot. But having seen absolutely no clear ideas since the Germany game and no defined style of play, i have no clue. In short, I do not understand the non inclusion of Drinkwater. He was at least a different option, at the very least.

He'd barely have gotten any minutes. I'd have taken him too but the reaction on here you'd think Roy left out an elite world class player.
MCaineFOTT Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 He has a 20 minute camero and a full game v Australia. unfortuantely he didnt play very well. Its a shame but nothing that i didnt expect to happen.

End. #englandsquad #hodgson #euros Might be true. But the very fact he could break down at any moment, has no football behind him, is not sharp and form in the friendlies has been questionnable should at least come into the equation.

ALC Fox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I'm devastated for Drinkwater. For me, there's no doubt he deserved to be on that plane. I get the Milner call up and Lallana call up. Useful players in their respective positions and can do different jobs in different areas of the pitch. But Wilshere shouldn't have been anywhere near the 26, let alone the final squad! I'm actually a big fan of Wilshere's. He's a supremely talented player, but playing in 2 half-paced international friendlies us not an indication of fitness for tournament football. Drinkwater has been fit all season long and performed brilliantly for the whole campaign too. Picking Wilshere over him beggars belief! Henderson I can understand to an extent as he's played a bit more, but again, Danny has played more games and been better. Arguably Mark Noble should be ahead of Wilshere and Henderson too! It must be loyalty and knowing exactly the role he wants the players to perform in that has led Hodgson to picking both players, because it certainly isn't fitness and form!
Fox92 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Joke, but not a surprise. Can't wait for Hodgson to leave.
Soar Fox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 He'd barely have gotten any minutes. I'd have taken him too but the reaction on here you'd think Roy left out an elite world class player. People are unhappy because players are being picked because of who they are and who they play for. If Drinkwater played for Liverpool he would be guaranteed a place. If Wilshere played for Leicester and had played 1 game all season do you think he would have been picked? And people wonder why England fail at tournaments.
HankMarvin Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 Wilshere is definitely a better player than DD. Surely nobody can dispute that? Why make the point as his not/never fit
easilee Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 WE ARE OFFICIALLY A HUGE CLUB NOW !!! All loyalty to the national team has evaporated ! Even Talksport's Hawksby and Jacobs agree that Drinky should be there!!!
jim5000 Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I could understand it if Wilshere was the second coming of Gazza, or Henderson wasn't completely crap, but there we go
HankMarvin Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 35 games 74 tackles won 55 interceptions 7 assists 1 title Won possession in the middle third more times (185) than any other player in the Premier League this season seems odd that that doesn't guarantee you a squad place, more so the fact that some of the player are not fit
Sunbury Fox Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 England take 8 midfielders including two who are barely fit, Henderson and Wilshere, and 3 who finished the season poorly, Lallana, Sterling and Barkley. Then we wonder why England do badly in tournaments.
Guest Col city fan Posted 31 May 2016 Posted 31 May 2016 I don't mean to say I told you so.. But I told you so. Woy reverts to type again. What a shock!
