filbertstreet Posted 2 July 2016 Posted 2 July 2016 From what I gather, Keane really wants to join Leicester … to get full international honours as soon as possible. he wants to join spurs as a reserve player then
VLC86 Posted 2 July 2016 Posted 2 July 2016 As for the Deeney saga....I'm convinced either Burnley or Leicester could have signed him for as little as £7/8 million in the summer of 2014 just after we both got promoted. It was before the McCormack £11 million deal - that pushed Deeney's price up massively. But that season Watford had just finished 13th after a mediocre season (Zola sacked) and Deeney would probably jumped at the chance of PL football if either Burnley or Leicester had pushed hard enough. You signed Ulloa and Kramaric instead and we got a pile of rubbish in Jutkiewicz and Sordell. What makes it worse was that Deeney and Dyche got on very well when SD was Watford manager in 2011/12 before being harshly sacked by the Pozzos. It's easy in hindsight, but if we'd been more ambitious and signed Deeney for say £8/9 million (plus possibly McArthur for £6 million) we'd probably have stayed up in 2014/15 Not true as we apparently had a £12m bid turned down that summer.

MPH Posted 2 July 2016 Posted 2 July 2016 Not good for the English game this, imprisoning players at smaller clubs and refusing to allow them to progress. yeah got to feel sorry for him signing a contract worth thousands a week. Maybe if he didn't want to be 'imprisoned' there, he shouldn't of signed a contract... Or at least asked for a Release clause
Grewks Posted 2 July 2016 Posted 2 July 2016 Wasn't bad when he was last here. You could see he had potential, but was still very raw. His worst performance actually was against us for Derby, when we tore him apart.
Grewks Posted 2 July 2016 Posted 2 July 2016 Also wondering what Claret thinks Burnley's chances are this season? Personally i have them finishing bottom in my predictions for two main reasons. 1 - I believe their squad is worse than the last time they were at this level, as i honestly believe ings and specifically trippier, are better than what they have currently. I'm really not convinced Andre Gray has the technical ability to cause problems at this level. 2 - I don't see how they're going to sign anyone decent. They were reluctant to sign anyone last time, and it appears everyone is struggling to sign players this season. If you listed the PL clubs in order of those a player would be most want to sign for, Burnley would undoubtedly be bottom. Of course, they have excellent team spirit. But, you need both hard work and quality. As we showed last season, incredible work rate combined with a some world class players was perfect. But, I don't see Burnley having enough Premier league class players to survive.
TJB-fox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Rejected new deal at Burnley, us Watford and Bournemouth current possibilities
MikeyT Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/burnley_fc/news/14596393.Michael_Keane_rejects_new_Burnley_contract_offer/?ref=mac MICHAEL Keane has rejected Burnley's offer of a new four-year contract. The 23-year-old had been offered a deal that would have made him one of the highest paid players at the club, but with Premier League champions Leicester City still keen to take him to the King Power Stadium it is understood that Keane has turned the offer down. The former Manchester United defender still has two years remaining on his Burnley contract, but his decision to reject the offer of a new contract is the clearest indication yet that he wants to talk to the Foxes over a move. Burnley have already turned down one bid from Leicester for Keane, which could have totalled £15million, but it now seems likely that Claudio Ranieri's side will return with a new and improved offer. Keane made 27 appearances for Leicester in a loan spell in the 2012/13 season and he is highly-rated by their influential head of recruitment Steve Walsh.
Gerard Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Not THEE highest paid player at the club but "one of the highest paid players at the club". No wonder he rejected it, what is the highest paid player at Burnley on? £30k a week? With him being 23 and two years left on his contract I always consider two years left the pivot point when the power between the player and the club are equal. He can stay one more year and Burnley will have to sell next season or allow him to leave on a Bosman in two years. FWIW I think Burnley will sell for £12-£15m if Keane really wants to go this summer.

Babylon Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 BBC Leicester Sport @BBCRLSport 7m7 minutes ago BBC understands Burnley want at least £20m to allow Michael Keane to leave following rejection of contract offer. So long then.... ridiculous.
Gerard Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 BBC Leicester Sport @BBCRLSport 7m7 minutes ago BBC understands Burnley want at least £20m to allow Michael Keane to leave following rejection of contract offer. £20m i wonder if they offered him a salary befitting of a £20m player?
Jon the Hat Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 If he is that important to them, then fair play. On balance staying the league is worth £100M a year, why would you take anything other than a stupid offer which puts that at risk, even if he leaves on a free in 2 years.
Ric Flair Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 I think we'll get him on deadline day for £12 million
Wolfox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 BBC Leicester Sport @BBCRLSport 7m7 minutes ago BBC understands Burnley want at least £20m to allow Michael Keane to leave following rejection of contract offer. We are the market leaders after all....
TheSomersetFox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 We've got Wes, Huth, Wasyl, Henandez and Benny right now, so i can't see us being desperate enough to spend £20m on him. We'll wait them out and win this one eventually
MrSpaM Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 20 million for a championship quality CB They are having a ****ing laugh Why is every player worth 20 million now?!? Literally two seasons ago you were paying 2 Million max for a similar transfer. Money has gone absolutely ridiculous
hackneyfox Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Literally two seasons ago you were paying 2 Million max for a similar transfer. Money has gone absolutely ridiculous Really? How long was it ago that we paid 1 million for a non-league striker?
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 I have a feeling we will pay pretty near to the asking price. It's a sellers market now. They don't want to sell, they don't need to sell. He's one of their better players. And we have cash on the hip. They are bound to hold out for the best possible price they can get. As would we in the same situation. The Premiership is awash with money. It's oozing out of every pore. Expect deals like these in this transfer window as literally, teams just do not need to sell their players. I don't think we are too far off the first 100 million pound player coming into the Prem. Whether Keane is 'worth it' is immaterial. Financially, of course he's not 'worth it'. But the money is so crazy now it's almost meaningless.
MrSpaM Posted 4 July 2016 Posted 4 July 2016 Really? How long was it ago that we paid 1 million for a non-league striker? A non league striker that was obviously much better than the level he was playing at Michael Keane has done nothing to suggest he is any better than championship quality I don't mind paying over the odds for players that are going to improve our squad, Michael Keane is not one of those players. I didn't rate him the last time he was with us and I don't rate him now, especially not enough to be paying 20 million for him. You'd be expecting to get a world class CB for that kind of money.
