It's no coincidence. That's 12 goals shipped in four games. Yes the first three were friendlies. That needs sorting. We won't win games when conceding goals like this. It's like going back to the Pearson days in the Prem. Needs sorting.

IT was the 1st game, so just because its the done thing on this forum, I will be

hard... We were well below any expected performance.If we had took our chances

we wouldnt of lost.If we had defended like Hull we wouldnt of lost today.

It will be great to get Huth back for the next game..  it was not Kante we missed, it was Huth clearly. Hernandez is not up to it, I am not impressed with him.. maybe in 6 months he can settle and become good in the prem, but oh well we don't have that time. you could see Morgan did not like playing with him, constantly having to tell him to move.

Everything about the way we approached that game was wrong.

 

Firstly, we're obviously going to suffer massively without Kante but you've got to give us a chance at least. King in a two away from home has never, ever worked. He doesn't really have a role or do anything. The thing about last season is every midfielder had a very specific role that they excelled at. King is the sort of player who gets the ball and passes it sideways and backwards. He's not a good tackler, he's not energetic and is far too afraid to take responsibility in possession. He may as well have not been there today.

 

The tempo was shocking. Our whole game is based around getting the ball forward quickly. We tried to play like everyone else today - like Tottenham or Man Utd and that's one of the reasons we looked awful. If we insist on doing that we will go back to being the struggling side we were under Pearson at this level. It was very reminiscent of one of those games in 2014/15.

 

Defensively we were all over the place, not only did we miss Kante but Huth as well. Simpson is exposed when he tries to do too much - why was he bombing forward? He almost never did that last season. I assume he was doing it because we were having no joy through the middle at all due to the aforementioned slow tempo and the fact that Drinkwater was trying to do both his own role and Kante's from last season - with King anonymous he was way too deep.

 

One of the most disappointing aspects was Vardy & Musa up front. Vardy had an off day. Musa looked like another Schlupp, capable of being a massive handful but tbh he looked like he had no idea what to do with a football most of the time. Considering he's our record signing some of the stuff has looked worrying. Amazing play once in a blue moon is not going to cut it, we need a striker who will score regularly and link up well with the rest of the team because if we play our normal game we cannot afford to have our attacks break down so easily. We actually missed Okazaki today, he was able to come deep and cause a few more problems than Musa and Vardy who both seemed to want to go wide for through balls all the time which was too easy to defend against. I was looking for an upgrade up front but Musa looks way too erratic to be a starter, he's an impact sub.

 

Three substitutions should have been made at half time but we didn't make one until the 67th minute (I think) and our last one wasn't until the last 10 minutes. Amartey (who looks a poor player to me) wasn't much of an upgrade on King. Okazaki did improve things and Ulloa came on too late to make a difference.

 

Albrghton not even making an appearance is extremely strange to me considering he was so pivotal for us last season. I can see why Gray started but I don't think he deserves to dislodge Marc yet.

 

Mahrez looked totally disinterested, head was down and he put in no effort. Not sure why he's taking penalties again either....but he scored. Needs to be dropped next game. Add to that everyone was below par and it made for a very embarrassing result.

 

All in all this is a wake up call, if we want to be successful we need to capture both the spirit and the style of play from last season. Today it was like watching a completely different team and I am shocked actually.

 

It's not an overreaction to say that was a pitiful performance and everyone at the club from the fans to the players to the coaching staff expect a lot more. Back to basics please. We have got to play the Leicester way.

Couldn't agree more. That ICC competition was a disgrace and we should have had no part in it. We looked slow, unfit and generally poor from back to front today. Hopefully CR will realise we need to do more business before the window closes. New cb, new cm and a top striker

Well it does look like we are going to miss Kante big time this season.... I don't think anyone in world football would be able to replace him.... time for Claudio to have a rethink on our formation and setup and our current set of players won't be able to play I the same way as last season

As I said, Drinkwater is a decent midfielder who looked last season but it's mostly down to Kanté & the system.

I think we witnessed a bit of last season hangover there.

 

I also feel those criticising Shinj and Mark are failing to see what they did for the team last time around.

 

I'm hoping Ranieri signs another CM before the window closes since we need options in the middle and not sure if King or Amarity fit the bill as starters - though maybe Amarity needs more time.

 

Hernandez needs time to form partnerships with Wes and Huth too. Maybe this is why we're still linked with so many CBs. I think the old partnership will help tighten things back there and I am inclined to believe from what I've read Mendy will help support by filling that hole in front of the back 4. 

 

Maybe be this is a ploy - lower the expectations of the opposition again so they all

underestimate us.

Claudio hasn't done enough bringing in the quality players we needed. Our squad looks pretty shit right now. 

 

That has to be our worst performance since Villa away two years ago. We will be relegated playing like that.

Well this match had banana skin written all over it from the start I don't think it's any reason to panic hopefully it's a wake up call to the lads 'the party is over' and it's time to get back to work.

We lost a game of football. After watching city for 53 seasons it sometimes happens. 

 

Everybody tried, but it wasn't our day, we weren't good enough. 

 

Next week we will probably play out of skins, it's the nature of supporting Leicester. If you can't accept a rubbish display and embarrassing defeat, clear off and support somebody else. 

 

We are are Leicester City the team I love, if you can't cope with regular disappointment, you are not a true fan.

Bollocks. Watch the Barcelona game again. Playing in his own role he's a class above every central midfielder in England bar Alli. But you can't expect to do his role and Kante's role, it's ridiculous.

Just sat in car park on way home.

 

Claudio has a challenge definitely.  Preseason, Kante going, Mahrez etc are all excuses to be honest. Factors why we may not be at full throttle but attitude/motivation are ingredients why we were so successful last season.

 

Today was a real eye opener and its too early to go overboard however I think some big decisions may need making by the Gaffer.

 

Certain players looked way off it, maybe over confident or distracted but if you want to play in the blue shirt then better is expected.

So many players having an off day at the same day is quite astounding.. Good players do not become bad players overnight..  Bad day at the office. Do not read a newspapers or watch Skysports for the next week and hopefully we can get up and running next week.. We need another defender and defensive midfielder.. Good weekend one and all.

It is down to a real lack of pre season, it is clear they aren't match fit yet.
