Slimani has refused to train before with Sporting has he not? They could have two deeply unhappy players on their hands which could be detrimental to them. Sell them to us now!!!

His comments were not made up.
Sporting confirms his interview but also stands that we should understand that football agents do exist and sometimes they screw up. That we shouldnt judge the player.

I dont really think we are just making it though, honestly. He will not leave unless you'll play his clause. We do not need to sell, so there is no point. We're aiming to be champions again, since that doesn't happen in a long time. So we're trying hard to keep the squad. Our president is a really though Sporting fan as well.

This official statement is to answer all the rumours and to keep on track of what our manager said. Some players want leave, we know, but we can't let them all leave, at least now.

Selling him for less than his clause would make the Sporting fans really angry, honestly.

I'd imagine the fans would be very angry if we were to complete the signing of one never mind both players in question, you seemed like a proud lot, had the pleasure of watching your 5-0 win over guimaries about 3/4 years ago, been to a lot of grounds around Europe but your atmosphere is among the best I've seen, great club.

God don't you hate all the Latin posturing machismo BS at times.

Maybe he stays at Sporting, denied his big money move, how can Sporting think Silva will be fully committed ? They're in no position financially to match our package and offer him a new deal.

It it might happen, but if it doesn't no one wins.

Yep, after that statement I won't be holding on to a hope that this Silva deal can be turned around, and completed, within two days.

Money makes things much less complicated. Wave enough of it and problems go away.

The he trouble starts when you try to be a tight wad. Proper business IS conducted complicated because all sides want the best deal. Someone will be disappointed. It's usually us.

I am sure they would be angry and rightly so.  Listen, you may be right but I personally think this is a case of Sporting negotiating hard (maybe harder than I gave them credit for earlier) but in the knowledge that the player wants to leave. Could also be that they are biding time to find a replacement?

Might be, obviously, but again, really doubt it.

Our chairman as always been saying we wouldnt sell unless the offers were too good to deny. Noone asked him to say that. Even with Joao Mario some people were disappointed because we weren't expecting to sell anyone.

The Italian press constantly said Inter was almost moving away from closing the Joao Mario deal because they were getting tired of the negotiations.

Now that Slimani is almost yours, everyone would go nuts if Adrien also left. That would represent an extreme mistake by the board. We already sold 2 essential players, we shouldn't sell anymore. And the board wouldn't been seen as trustworthy as before. Even our manager said that noone else would leave after Slimani.

Adrien's comments today were quite a shock actually.

So it's either done or we've upset Sporting so much that they no longer want to go through with the Slimani deal either.

I can't wait until Wednesday is past and all this silliness is over.

I'm sure they are mate, I would be gutted if one of our players said something similar. I genuinely feel for you, it's horrible when  your best players get picked off. I'm not trying to be arrogant about it, I just genuinely think that this is more of a done deal than Sporting are making out - but that is purely my opinion and I'm often wrong lol

This a great signing by the sound of it but I do wonder where he will for in? We have such a rigid (and successful) formation. The best thing about LCFCs transfer policy of recent years has been buying the right players to fit the team (balance etc) I just can't understand how he will fit into our 4-4-2 unless he comes in for Drinky?

Have I missed something? Sky sports have confirmed it and people are saying sporting are upset and it might not happen? What did I miss?

The former happened way, way before the latter.

What's his buyout? If we structure a deal so we technically meet his clause, pay a bit less for Slimani and then make the details "undisclosed", then they can save face, no? People are comparing this to Vardy and Mahrez: Neither of them turned in a transfer notice nor told a newspaper they wanted to leave. Even Kante didn't do that. These players want to come to Leicester, and aren't being offered a bigger deal to stay at Sporting. There is no comparison.
