Adrien just allowed his father to spew some more bullshit.

Jorge Mendes is clearly behind this shit.

I thought Adrien was smart enough to know that by starting all this shit even if a club offers 44.9M€ we won't sell him and will put him in the B team.

And to think this guy was an Idol among Sporting fans...

I understand the timing is terrible but this guy has dedicated 15 years of his life to the club. He should be considered very favourably by fans. Kante left when he had the chance and that's extremely disappointing but he was an integral part of Premiership winning team so I respect him for that. A club shouldn't screw a loyal player over like that. Plus apparently you have  Schweinsteiger headed your way as a replacement.

His dad just said Sporting are lying. Imagine if Mahrez said he wanted to leave and his dad said Leicester were liars. This place would lynch him.

Just 30 or so hours to go til this madness ends.

We will be bled dry by Sporting. We will end up paying way over the odds for Adrien.

Schweinsteiger, who said recently that he'd only play for United in Europe? Don't rate that crap, mate. We've been linked (just in this transfer window) to Benzema and Mario Gomez as well.

Look, I don't want to screw him over, but I don't want Sporting to screw itself more. We want to win the league, we want to win the cup, we want to win the league cup, and we want to go as far as possible on the CL. For that, we need a strong squad, we good players and good subs. We already lost last season's best player, Joao Mario, we're set to lose our star striker Islam Slimani, we simply cannot afford to let Adrien go, especially at these values. And he knows it.

Adrien comes across as a right twat with all of this btw.

Not particularly a fan of the way he's dealt with it. Makes us look like the type of club we all hate. Where they just say "I want that one" and he comes gushing for us because we're shelling out big wages.

I hope that if he doesn't come that he apologises to the Sporting fans because they've been put through the wringer these past two/three days.

First Mario, then Slimani then Adrien and now West Brom are supposed to be after Carvalho...

Schweinsteiger was liked to us by the trashiest newspaper in Portugal, wouldn't give it much atention if I were you.

I am only going to say this once. I am not telling people how they should feel. However I will not resile from stating my own feelings, which include that a) it sucks Kante left but I respect what he did last season and B) I think it's unseemly to dump a guy to reserves who has served the club faithfully for years, even if his timing and his comments suck.

Anyway, I hope this goes ahead if not, I'll be happy with Slimani just fine.

That's such bullshit. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes (nobody here does); he could have easily been told the club would not stand in the way of this move.

i'd argue that point.

He claims he was told by the president that after 17 years of dedication to the club they would not stand in his way if a suitable move came in for him. So when a suitable offer comes in, he is ready to go and announces it.  If someone has spoken to his agent without the clubs  permission, thats likely not to be on his recommendation. He might not of even known about it.

So other than that one statement about how he is ready for a new challenge( said AFTER being told they wouldnt stand in his way)... what has he actually done wrong?

He was only good for the past 2 years, and he is the higher earner in the portuguese league.

Not the big difference between "comes across as a right twat" to "he is being a right twat".

As it appears, he's forcing a move away from the club 2 days before the deadline. That's a dick move.

I'd rather have 24 year old Carvalho than Silva. I also think Carvalho would be a better replacement for Kante whereas I can't see where Silva fits into our team?

Kind of based on when the offer comes in isnt it?

Not his fault we waited until now..

and what exactly is he doing to force the move through? he's made ONE statement. thats it.

We already have two people who play DM in Mendy and Amartey who have barely been given a chance, we only have one Drinkwater style of player. If he ever gets injured we'll be totally fecked without him and almost all of our attacking play stems from him.

Silva sounds like the sort of player who works hard and is box to box, it's not impossible to play two box to box players together. It doesn't always need to be specialists.

and perhaps CR wants to adapt to a slightly more possession based game so we don't have to keep winning the ball back as much in the first place. Who knows. Adrien would could potentially take some of the creative weight from Mahrez/Drinkwater.

I think he absolutely does want to, he hinted at it again the other day.

I thought we tried to keep it more against Swansea, but as someone pointed out that might have been down to Kaspers hernia.

Was under the impression Amartey was a Kante type, and Mendy was a Drinkwater type? People are saying Silva is a Drinkwater type.

We need another Kante/Amartey type regardless of injury don't we, due to AFCON..

Not sure paying record fees to attempt switching formations/roles is a good idea as there is a decent chance it won't work as well as the current (title winning) formation/roles
