Did vardy really want to move to arsenal?

Bit strange referring to Messi, he's Vardy and that's all he will ever be.

Hes at his best when teams are chasing games against us and pressing high. This actually means he's far more lethal if we go 1-0 up. Other player need to step up as in fairness I can't remember Vardy or Slimani being given too many guilt edge chances.

It started half way through last season, he's probably trying to conserve energy. He's 29 and not going to be able to charge around like he did forever. He's not exactly lived the healthiest of lifestyles, which can't help.

A thread slagging off a Leicester City legend. Football manager playing idiots

God forbid people air their opinions on a Internet forum.

People praise him on here when he's doing well & rightly so. They can also comment when he's off form.

But that is messi. The best player in his generation and arguably the best player in history

True, the comparison with messi was a bit extreme, it was more to get across the point of he can be man marked and players know his game but finds a way to influence games in other ways.

This is what Vardy and Mahrez will learn when they ain't on song they can still influence things on the pitch.

I am not sure about vardy. He is pushing 30 and he is not what we call "a game changer". He is a great striker but he is  limited. But mahrez on the other hand is (what NBA fans like to call ) a franchise player. He is not even 26. A poty. A top 3-5 RM/RW in the world. A top 8 player in the league and a potential megastar. If he doesn't have a buy out clause the club should build around him. Play to his strength. We have a player that can reshape our club. Make history and put the name "leicester city fc" in the same bracket as success. But instead. We are playing hoofball not football. But I still got hope

It's not the lack of goal scoring that is concerning me. It's the way he looks disinterested & a lack of effort which is worrying.

Dont be silly, that look comes from trying to give the opponent the eye, the trouble is the Red bull send him cross-eyed...

Have some sympathy....

The guy had a once-in-a-lifetime season last year while playing through injury after injury, got married, had a trip to the Euros, off-season surgery, a late start to pre-season with a team traveling around the world, and is playing with some new teammates. He's clearly sitting on the money or is regretting his decision to stay. :nigel:

He looks a bit frustrated at the moment. He was chuntering away when subbed at Southampton, hopefully that puts that pressure on him to think he still has to work hard for us and be clinical as he never looked like scoring when he went through on goal against Soton. He has been snatching at chances all season and isnt looking at his best. Us putting two and two together to get five and put his indifferent form to him having his mind on off field stuff or the non move to Arsenal if off the mark. IMO he considered it like all top players should do when a side like Arsenal come into the equation but like a real sensible bloke he weighed up the pros and cons and worked out that we are a club on the up, he has his band of brothers here, his family is reasonably settled, he opened up his V9 Academy, he is a legend in a title winning team and he is a big fish in a smaller bowl. He made the loyal if not ambitious decision but he now needs to produce the form that made him land that interest and mega contract from us.

Im not panicking about his form because so many Euro players look heavy legged, even when we are here in early October but I am concerned about his energy levels. I saw a report that says we are 12th in the prem on running stats and last season we finished 7th (by KM per game). It all started from the forwards and only Oka to me is running with the same energy and enthusiasm from the front lot. Its not just Vardy BTW but this is a Vardy thread but he needs to sharpen up and get the edge into his game., Those heavy legs need to go and he needs to run with a purpose. It was weird on Sunday seeing a big unit in Slimani doing so much running compared to Vardy. Its also weird Vardy gets taken off against Man Utd but Slimani still runs his ass off and still gets picked the next.

I look forward to seeing them both flying!

Who cares, he's ours for now, good, bad or indifferent

We wouldn't get 30 million for him now any way

Let's hope he's on the bench, comes on and scores. Then comes back with some of his confidence restored.

He wants James corden to play him in his film! I want James corden to play instead of him ATM! Strolling around the pitch, not chasing, harrying defenders and charging for tickets for a book signing session says where he's at ATM! Selfish, greedy and selling stories left right and centre, while not performing on the pitch! id drop him for Okazaki ATM and mahrez needs to be dropped for Gray! Both aren't doing anything apart from lazy performances this season

Strikers - form comes and goes.

Lukaku went 13 games without scoring recently, Kane goes on long runs without scoring etc...

Stop panicking, he'll end the season with 15plus.

And herein lies the problem. Once a footballer gets married, thats them fvcked. Too much of the old lady trying to change them.

Sounds like his missus may be the one who has straightened him out in Vardy's case. He was hardly a model pro before he was going out with her. Also, she has recently revealed that she is expecting another baby which I presume must have been known to them as a couple in the summer - which may have played a part in his (their) decision to stay?

Strikers go through these phases. I think Vardy's interplay is vastly underrated. Everyone focuses on the pace and the goals but his passing has come on leaps and bounds in the last year or two.

Anyone who can't see he has lost focus is deluded

he is trying , but his touch , timing and effort has dropped maybe 25%?

he is constantly in the papers as his media addicted wife tries to make them famous , but even that is beginning to look deluded on thier part as really he is likely to be soon forgotten outside of our following.

It's all Very sad but a man who has lived a quite disturbing private life was never going to stay in top peak in his 30's

lets face it he looks like a Sheffield Wayne Rooney , burnt out before it really got going !

As I said at the time we saw him peak last year , 100k a week would blunt him and maybe we should have cashed in

Hopefully, like alcohol, not within 24 hours of a game. This could be the reason for his lack of sharpness.

The man's a Leicester legend for what he's done with us and staying last year (irrespective of the pay rise).

His form is concerning me though- looks a totally different player. If it's a deliberate tactic for him to not chase the ball or run the channels, it's completely taken the edge off his game. If not, he's either knackered, carrying a niggle or not with it mentally- I think he would need a game or two on the sidelines to recover/reassess.

Not a fan of all this media promotion either. I check Newsnow occasionally, and it's just snippets from his book half of the time. If he was playing well, I wouldn't care. As it is, you can't help but feel it's distracting him.

He's being played in a strike partnership rather than the main man as he was last year.

He's bound to be less selfish.

Seemed selfish enough to me when he failed to play in Marhez on sunday. Yet he didn't think twice last year at swansea for the hatrick, when he could have taken a shot at extending the record.

Something has changed in the summer and I reckon money has something to do with it, I can't decide if that's because they now have it, or they don't want to be here earning it.

cant blame him for giving serious consideration to joining a team thats been in the Champions League for the last 17 seasons..but credit to him for staying with us.

Think he is trying to play it a bit more cagey by not chasing every ball...tries to lull defenders into a false sense of security and/or keep  them  guessing.

Also think central defenders are playing slightly deeper against us (5 yards or so) therefore not giving so much space in behind which nullifies Vardys style....

we need to utilise the extra space in front of them, perhaps play Mahrez more centrally

I mentioned this the other week, we all know Vardy and Mahrez are not 1 season wonders, they've been doing it for a few seasons here, however in the eyes of the media and other clubs fans they are in danger of being labelled one season wonders (Along with players such as Kante and Payet just to give abit of balance).

Not a huge issue for Vardy I suppose, he's 29 but i'd expect his ambitions don't want that tag, as for Mahrez, well if he wants to progress, move on to bigger clubs they best start pulling their fingers out.

I can't thank any of last seasons players enough, but they can't live on that for the rest of their lives and put their feet up now, I'm sure that's not that case, they don't want to be playing poor, but what I will say is last season doesn't excuse them from being questioned and commented on that their form is poor.

There is only Drinkwater that has been consistent for us this season.
