Rio: Kane ‘on a different planet’ to Sturridge, Vardy

Rio Ferdinand believes Harry Kane is far superior to Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy, and that his Tottenham wage should reflect that.

Kane is currently in talks to improve his contract at Tottenham, with the striker believed to be on around £50,000 a week.

It is a lower wage than many of his teammates, but also more than half that of fellow England internationals Sturridge and Vardy.

Ferdinand believes the forward should be seeking parity with Sergio Aguero at Manchester City, not Sturridge and Vardy, however.

“There has been a lot of talk over his contract situation over the last few days… Spurs will be making a mistake to let this drag on,” Ferdinand told the London Evening Standard.

“When Kane signed his last deal, it was worth a basic £50,000 a week that is now believed to have risen to about £60,000 after he reached certain targets.

“But that is still about £20,000 a week less than White Hart Lane’s top earners.

“Then there are his fellow England team-mates, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge, earning at least double that.

“If I was Kane and his advisors, I wouldn’t be using those two as a gauge. I’d be looking down at them because they’re not on the same planet.

“Kane has performed for the last two years by being the top English goalscorer in this country. They haven’t done that.

“If I was him, I’d be demanding to be on the same level as Sergio Aguero, who has a package of about £220,000 including bonuses, instead,” he added.

“That’s the kind of player he should be looking for parity with. Like Aguero, Kane has been banging the goals in for a few years. That’s his level.

“I think Kane is weakening his own position if he uses Vardy and Sturridge as a starting point because they’re not the same calibre of player.

“He is only 23 and the other two don’t match up with him in terms of games played and goals scored.”

He's done nothing this season other than score penalties and rebounds.

Which is a lot more than Vardy has done

whether you like him or not Kane scores goals and rarely has had a barren run for the last few seasons. any team in the Premier league would want him in their side and he could earn much more away from spurs. certainly deserves more than sturridge who has a lot of injury problems and is less value for money

I so love how they compare wages with players at other clubs. He signed for spuds on a wage they offered him. He don't play for us and what we pay has fvck all to do with his wage.

Vardy's wage reflects the fact he is a premier league winner.

Kane's wage reflects the fact he is a premier league bottler.

Oh and Rio wind your fvking neck in its none of your business.

Vardy's scored more for England and has far more assists.

Also he's never taken any FCking corners and makes a much more valuable contribution to the team.

Also - where's Kane's movie?!

Comparing him to Aguero...

lol

Aguero is one of the best  (if not THE best) out and out strikers in the world.

Tbf Kane is perhaps a mug for not asking for a payrise. The guy obviously deserves one but if he's happy being on what he's on already then happy days for the Spuds.

Not unreasonable to say if you are Kane, you start the conversation looking at Aguero salary, not Vardy.  Negotiation tactics and all that.  Then when Levy stops laughing you get real :)

Based on the past 3 months maybe.

But we know Vardy's a lot, lot better than he's playing at the moment, rendering Rio talking a load of shit, as usual. Honestly who decided he had enough of a brain to be a pundit? He doesn't.

Kane really is nothing special.

I'd say when both at their peak Kane is probably the better player and has outscored Vardy in the past two Prem seasons.

Kane has scored 20+ goals in previous seasons and will do again this season. His record at Spurs speaks for itself.

I don't think he's World Class, he's certainly not in the same bracket as Aguero, Sanchez, Ozil, Hazard in this league, but to brand him 'nothing special' is rubbish. 54 goals in 90 games in the top flight is incredible.

And those that say all he does is 'score rebounds and tap ins' well that's what he's there for. Our very own Gary Lineker will tell you that.
