Foxhateram Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 I like Jagielka. Reads the game well. He would fit alongside Huth quite nicely, but lack of pace would be an issue.
BenTheFox Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 He's even been booed off a few times this season by the Everton fans. That's bad considering he's been a good servant to them, but it tells you all you need to know about his performances. He's past it.
crazyleicester Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 We should only look to bring in players that will improve things. Jagielka has just got old in recent years and IMO looked shocking in the few live games Ive seen of him on the telly. Not for me. Im just gutted Sakho at Liverpool seems surplus and we dont seem to be interested,
m4DD0gg Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 F that i still cant get over his inept england displays, would rather have brian carey
AKCJ Posted 19 January 2017 Author Posted 19 January 2017 Yep. Will do as cover til the end of the season. People need to realise that we're not going to find a starting, top end player who is going to come to us in January. He would come in, fill a gap and do a job. We can then review the central defence worry in the summer.
Fox92 Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 Are you joking. He's been a good player but he's truly awful now. Ask Everton fans. We could go for a better player in the Championship.
BenTheFox Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 Our ageing/'non-footballing' defence is the reason that we're playing such negative football and therefore not creating enough chances. Don't think Jagielka would help that. Though I suppose he'd be better back-up/rotation than Wasyl.
STUHILL Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 This would be ok for a last minute deal, if we miss out on other targets. Better than Wes and Huth but still only a short-term fix.

Everton fans are well known for being spoilt brats who think that the footballing world owes them something despite decades of trophyless football. They boo if they don't win regardless of performance and opponent. I wouldn't read all that much into it.
Tielemans63 Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 I thought slow, aging defenders were the the problem not the solution ?

Superpants82 Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 Seen his name a few times already, definitely Kurt Zouma
tsintskaro Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 Sakho,Ramirez,Jagielka... someone useful maybe? pls?
Tielemans63 Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 Gerard Deulofeu has been told he can leave Everton - worth a shout? A bit overrated yes but a player who can make things happen.
Izzy Posted 19 January 2017 Posted 19 January 2017 If he goes anywhere it will be to join Moyes at Sunderland won't it?

He is another right sided attacker though, and we have Mahrez, Gray and Albrighton who are all strongest in that position. Like I said though, if Claudio knows that Mahrez is already pre-agreed to move in the summer, then we could look at signing him now whilst he is available. Only 22 and doubt would cost that much as Everton want rid. Could see a front three of Gray-Slimani-Deulofeu working eventually.

For some reason I thought he'd played a fair bit down the middle but a quick bit of research shows that he pretty much never played there ?
