Robbie Brady to Burnley

So Palace have bid for Brady and Jeff?

Which one are they trying to force through for the other do you think?

If I was them I'd sign Brady. Looks like they'll go for the same price and Brady is more of a footballer.

Surely he would pick us over Burnley!

It's a strange one. I see the value in having a player like this with good technical ability and who is a genuine winger and full back who has a quality delivery. Seems like a left footed version of Albrighton, where you know he can do a job defensively and will work his socks off and provide a lot of quality crosses.

Limitations as a winger, will be his lack of pace, power and ability to beat a man, in the same way Albrighton often struggles.

10 million may seem high to some people but bare in mind Jeff is going for 12million. This guy would be perfect in a genuine 4-4-2 with him on the left and Albrighton on the right, or even in a 3-5-2 with them both acting as wingbacks, which many have suggested as a formation change.

Still don't quite see how this signing works, if we are to continue with a 4-3-3, which suits players like Mahrez, Gray, Musa etc, but it does give us the option to play two or three different formations and have the correct type of players for those, instead of trying to have Musa play as genuine winger or Albrighton play in a front 3 etc.

With Schlupp gone, that leaves us with 5 players who can play/cover LW.. Gray Mahrez Musa Albrighton Kapustka.. 7 players if you count Fuchs/Chilwell who have both played at LW briefly recently. Do we really need this...

They can play and cover there, but wouldn't say any of them are a genuine LW. I think Gray and Albrighton are better used on the right and Musa doesn't seem to have the crossing ability to play as a winger and is more suitied as an attacking forward/striker. Kaputska is a bit of an unknown and from what I read, also seems to be a number 10 type player, as well as it perhaps being Mahrez's favoured position. I don't think Chilwell or Fuchs should be taken from the LB positions either, so I do see the use of a genuine LW, in a similar mould to Albrighton.

I don't actually think he will start for us each week, and it would take squad rotation and formation rotation from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 for him to be needed. I prefer the 4-3-3 as think it gets the best out of our most talented players in Mahrez and Gray and allows us that midfield 3 of Drinky, Mendy and N'didi, but if Claudio wants the ability to switch to a 4-4-2 and have two very able crossers into the box, then can see the thinking behind this one.

If we are on a budget though, then absolutely there are other areas that need more attention first - CB and RB for me.

Yeah just dont see how he fits?!?!  Ranieri comes out and says he wants one young and one experienced left sided player one thats why he accepted Jeff could go..

Rather have Kapustka as the bit part squad player.

And isnt Brady living on his euros?  well so is Kapustka..

That and he's usually been one of the bright spots for both Hull and Norwich in this league. Hence why he's one of those players that always ends up moving on.

I think we need to accept Kapustka is currently nowhere near getting a shot. When he's played in the youth setup by all accounts he hasn't stood out.

Brady might not be a glamorous signing. But he's one of those dependable hard working sorts who'll do a job defensively and in attack, like Albrighton. A squad needs a few of those players who give a fairly consistent 6-7/10. Rather than being full of ones who give you a 10/10 one week and 3/10 for the following 4 weeks.

Two are left backs, one is currently playing as a striker, one we might as well forget about and one is at Cup of Nations. So realistically we currently have two players who are specialists in their positions in Gray and Albrighton.

Vardy can play wide left as well in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 as well.

I don't see the point in bringing in players who are now mid 20's and aren't expected to make a first team spot their own. It's okay if it's cheap or we have a severe lack of numbers but the price is £10m and we have lots of options at left back and wide left.

For me we've just done some great business getting rid of Schlupp for a big fee who has the same profile as Brady, mid 20's and not a first team player. Now we appear to be replacing Schlupp for like for like effectively, terrible business by us if we pull this off.

Hopefully all this talk is a' diversion'.  If we sign him, this will be another very expensive mistake. Better value elsewhere.

Please noooooooooooooooooooooo

So he's a utility player, no doubt - a reliable stalwart to bring off the bench. I see Albrighton filling a similar role for our club moving forward.

Ranieri said yesterday he has developed a plan 'B' and this is a surely developing a squad with the personnel to play 433 and 4231 having two players for each position. I can see Brady fitting into that and he's a player with stuff to prove and a work ethic. I think it's a fair signing if we get him - we are not going to splashing 20million plus on every player yet.

Solid stuff in my opinion and upgrade on the outgoing player.

He's been nothing short of woeful when played there though most of the time.

I'm not suggesting we play Vardy there but he's capable if need be.

Signing players like Schlupp or Brady is terrible business IMO. They're bang average PL players who are both mid 20's with 100+ games at professional level, there's every chance this is their level. I was a great advocate of Schlupp 18 months a go but enough is enough, you can't keep living off potential.

Same as Brady, 25 tomorrow and if Dyche gets him his last three PL clubs will have been Hull, Norwich and Burnley, that says it all.

Brady won't take us to the next level. I'd much rather us invest in a young up and coming player than a tried and tested bottom half PL player.

His set pieces are head and shoulders above any other player we have. He can play left central midfield as well as wingback and left wing. No point mentioning him as a left back as Fuchs and Chilwell are our left backs. He might not be needed but to say he'll be an expensive mistake is unfair. I actually think he'd do well but at the expense of other players missing out. We have a very big midfield.

I don't think thats the expectation - look at our interest and cash spent in players under 24 - we potentially are trying to pull off a Southampton so when our Vardy's leave or lose their pace and Mahrez goes to Barca (In his dreams it'll be PSG or Arsenal) we have good young players ready to step up. I think Brady is a stop gap for a couple of years - a bridge to facilitating the youth coming through and being the number 2 choice backup squad player.
