Don't really see the issue, seems like CR is trying to not put any pressure on the lad ... sensible to me. If he said he was the dogs bollocks and had a shocking start he'd probably never recover

He's kinda right tbf. Ndidi played 90 minutes away to Everton 5 days after signing for us.

Some players can be thrown in and others can't do that.

You don't get the ones that can't in January, during a relegation battle.

Absolutely crazy that recruitment and actual managerial/coaching responsibilities seem to be so divorced from each other in a football club:

"we've bought this one, found him in an old scouting file, watched him on TV, or was good on FIFA 2014 - see what you can make of him"

what the f***k is the use of getting players in if u don't play them, again CR and his weird tactics.

Nothing to do with CR and tactics if he is having players forced on him who he feels are not up to the job. Of course that might not apply to all our signings, he may well have agreed or sanctioned them, but it seems to be the case with a quite a few. Hence my prior post.

Genuinely couldn't make it up. Whether this is Ranieri swiping at the recruitment 'strategy' , him showing another example of marginalising people, coming up with an excuse to keep playing slow and slower at the back or indeed if we have signed a lad who's about much use to us currently as Matt Upson was a couple of years back, what an absolute shambles.

This is a joke surely????!!!!

Can we start the season again and pretend this s**t never happened. I have never known a club mess up positions of strength like ours over the years. Our "star" defender to help our defence is "not ready." This is the same sort of recruitment tactics employed by one P. Taylor!!

It's evident the January transfer window was a flop.

Ndidi may come good with time, but it won't cover for the poor recruitment or the lack of Premier League-proven signings, which is what we should've gone for.

Then again, which team would've loaned us a player without risking helping a direct relegation-threatened rival or losing a potentially important element in the quest for the title race/a Champions League or Europa League spot?

Maybe we were held ransom, maybe not. But why weren't we able to get a creative player like Bojan on loan, for instance? Mainz are regarded as a better outlet than us at the moment, and they're not exactly flying high in the Bundesliga.

It's definitely starting to appear like more and more players are being brought in either without the manager's knowledge or against his wishes. Who's making these decisions is anyone's guess but there definitely doesn't appear to be any joined up thinking. Some people on here alluded that Ranieri may have been the reason for Walsh leaving (i.e. Walsh having less say in transfers), however I'd hazard a guess that someone far higher up the chain is pulling the strings as far as transfers are concerned. These comments from Ranieri appear to add credence to that assumption.

Yeah, lets just stick a new CB who barely has trained with the team against Utd. Genius.

Even if it was a top Premiership CB we brought in, they'd struggle to have that unity within a pairing at the back.

Give him time ffs.

I think you're missing the point... our defense has looked very shakey indeed and the only defender brought in during the window isn't ready to play...

Absolutely ridiculous.

Lets face it, he won't play anyway, there's no way he'll drop Morgan and Huth.

This is the kind of player we go for nowadays....

lol when you think we couldn't have had a worse transfer window, our scouts and Rudkin just keep giving lol, what was the point of signing him if he isn't ready to fit straight in.

Do Rudkin and the clowns recruiting not realise that our defence is a joke, and needs improvement straight away ffs

January was a flop?

I'd go as far as saying all of this seasons signings have been a disaster

We were in the best position possible to move forward from last season yet we seem intent on signing players no one really has ever heard of.

Most if not all of the players signed this season have either been poor decisions, or as a club we have treated them badly and turned them into players they were not before they arrived
