Wague not ready

It's evident the January transfer window was a flop.

Ndidi may come good with time, but it won't cover for the poor recruitment or the lack of Premier League-proven signings, which is what we should've gone for.

Then again, which team would've loaned us a player without risking helping a direct relegation-threatened rival or losing a potentially important element in the quest for the title race/a Champions League or Europa League spot?

Maybe we were held ransom, maybe not. But why weren't we able to get a creative player like Bojan on loan, for instance? Mainz are regarded as a better outlet than us at the moment, and they're not exactly flying high in the Bundesliga.

The summer was a flop. We should have improved the team. Centre backs, experienced ball winning midfielder... the list goes on... Look at Southampton who replace players with better players yet we don't do that. We go for players who are no better than what we already have.

There was no chance of getting Bojan in Jan, not on loan anyway. Stoke wouldn't give him to a division rival and why would any good player like him want to come to this mess anyway.

Look at other clubs in the same situation as us. Hull etc they brought loan players in played them yesterday and they helped them beat Liverpool. Why did we go for an untried player, we could have gone for Ivanovic at Chelsea he would have been ready or Kone at Sunderland with Ulloa plus cash going the other way. Like others have said in this post the recruitment team at this club is an absolute shambles. Surely we should have had a back up plan in place to get players we want if other targets wouldn't come. We should have been speaking to clubs in November / December enquiring about players, but no not us.

This player can only have been brought in as backup, you can't put in a defender who hasn't played in the league before and has no understanding with any of our current defenders. There may have been defenders who could have slotted in but we didn't attempt to sign them

The January transfer window failings will reoccur in the Summer. We're back to nobody wanting to join.

Good job we only need a new set of defenders lol

I'm starting to think this is some sort of test just to see how much they can p*ss us off!

Its clear to me that Wague was only ever a back up replacement for Hernandez & I think over the coming weeks we'll see that he won't get into our starting 11.

Why did we sign a loan player with good potential for a relegation battle? What are the odds we don't see Wague play this season....

Because although we clearly tried, for a variety of reasons we couldn't get our man like Acerbi. So no point chucking good money at someone who is not at least as good as what we've got. This player is exactly what Ranieri says he is.  Someone to look at closely rather than from afar. Either to fit in this year, next year or never. Sensible way to do business if you can do it. Fergie in a way did similar with Schlupp for a month if you remember, after which he came to the right conclusion.

Thank goodness we have an option to buy him, he may be ready toward the end of next season to help in our Championship relegation battle. Desperate buy for a desperate team, good to see he's made the CL squad...or is it, at least we know what to expect from Was. Every day I ask myself can it get any worse and every day I find it's a fcuking yes.

Hardly surprising is it?

Yet another reminder of how poor our recruitment team are. Even pre-December everyone could see we needed a first team CB to compete with Huth/Morgan. Had over a month to identify targets and sort out deals.

Seems as though we put all our hopes on getting Acerbi - once he turned us down we panicked and loaned a bloke who's played 6 times this season.

I think we have an agreement in place to buy him in the summer? This just seems to be planning ahead for next season as opposed to actually strengthening for the remainder of this one. We needed a Huth-like signing, someone who could jump straight into the squad with Premier League experience.

We run by idiots. End of.

I'm with you, sick of this nonsense, personally I want to see changes whatever happens in the next few weeks.

Some of this is starting to smack of the infamous Peter Taylor would you believe - his saying was "one for the future" re justifying some of his strange signings of course, without naming names. To the present though, then it is surely up to these young and hungry players to hit the ground running and if they make mistakes then to learn from them in the future - not for them to have to wait a few months to see if they're ready FFS (like Hernandez virtually had to - and surprise, surprise, he's no longer here!) - by which time the present starting 11s are likely to have us in the bottom three if we carry on the way we're going - and especially if the Swanseas, Hulls and Sunderlands continue to improve!

Yeah, lets just stick a new CB who barely has trained with the team against Utd. Genius.

Even if it was a top Premiership CB we brought in, they'd struggle to have that unity within a pairing at the back.

Give him time ffs.

Agree but surely at least the bench?

Isn't it a little strange that CR won't play Kapuska and now Wague  but yet he could play Ndidi. Is it because they weren't his signings. The Kapuska one is really strange in that he's an established International and scored at that level. Yet he's not been given a look in here yet. Now if we were winning there might be some merit to it but we're not. So why not give him a run to see if he can bring his talent to the team.

Please be ready for Wednesday lol

Huth needs to be dropped as he is making so many bad decisions. I know Wes and Simmo are shocking on the ball but they usually defend well but Huth just needs a break.
