Premier League champions Leicester have held informal talks with former England boss Roy Hodgson about him becoming their new manager.

What, again? Maybe the dinosaur forgot what was said

Shakey if we beat Hull convincingly  :) ....        Woy if we don't  :( ......

Shakey to be named Monday till the end of the season to start. Possible permanent depending on results.

We'd obviously all better pray for a win against Hull then !  Not just for the needed 3 points, but for Shaky to get the job (which he deserves) - and Woy to disappear (a la England) !

Seems he already has it. But they won't announce it as they don't want distractions before a big game.

A trip to the Cathedral could help on both counts !

Who knows?

Woy is slipping in the odds :). New boy gaining ground fast Michael O'Neill, the NI manager. Maybe the owners got the O'Neills mixed up? Hiddink making a surge to second favourite to Shaky.

To be fair to him, he quit Burnley to drop down a division and head back to Bournemouth because his mum died and the family wanted to be close.

Can't really fault that.

Who knows what would've happened if he'd stayed.

We were ONE point above the Championship relegation places when Howe left having shipped 23 (TWENTY-THREE) goals in 10 games.....that was with a defence of Lee Grant, Trippier, Duff, Shackell and Mee. With Dyche in charge, the SAME defence - bar Heaton in for Grant - got Burnley promoted along with you.

I'm glad an actual fan of a club he's managed has come out with some decent comments! There's an eddie howe thread in our general sport section if you fancy chipping in there too ;)

I don't believe you can go from being one of the lads to being boss. I think you lack the authority to do your job properly. It'd probably be okay till the end of the season but not long term. History doesn't have many examples of where the assistant has successfully taken the top job.

Gerald Ford taking over after Nixon.

I think we all want Shakey, including the players,  but this way it keeps the pressure on the team to perform (lose ...   no Shakey !) ...      good psychology from the owners ...         The guy aint a billionaire for nothing.

This is absolutely spot on Detroit Blues.

I've banged on about this for a long time but we still don't have a Plan B. And it takes a long time to work through one. We certainly will need different new footballers at the back if we are to ever adopt a possession based style.

If teams fall into the trap of not worrying about our strengths -as both Liverpool and Man City have done this season- then we do fine but the problem comes when we come up against a smarter team that works to frustrate us.

I don't see how appointing a new manager quickly (as long as Shakey continues to do well) achieves anything and suspect the owners know this. They'll let Shakey run with it in the short-term and most likely bring someone in early in the summer. I just hope they give Shakespeare a proper chance and any new person is neither Hodgson nor Pardew. Both of which would be truly godawful appointments...

Give Shakey the job until the end of the season. He will best understand the fickleness of certain players, and keep them on a leash.
