We concealed from set pieces. We lost midfield duels. We were outnumbered.

Ndidi is is great in the air. He makes up a lot in the middle. His ball winning ensures even if we are outnumbered the opposition struggle to build moment.

Morale: ****ing love Ndidi!

Weirdly, King being bypassed by most of that game was nothing much to do with us conceding from set pieces.

I thought Amartey, after a terrible start, had a better second half and was fairly solid.

We move on.

Lukaku now 2 clear of Kane in the race for the golden boot. There's one positive about today! #strawclutching

Everton deservedly won it. Immense pressing from them for the full 90, it started from the off.

Negatives:

Set piece defending

Benny- poor first half

Amartey - poor first half

King, Drinwater - overan, poor game

Vardy - anonymous

Positives

no injuries.

We didn't get battered.

Ulloa still has some fight in him.

Slimani's well taken goal.

Still in same position as at the start of the weekend with fewer games to be caught.

We've always been poor from set pieces with Kasper in goal. His only fault imo. If it's in the six yard box he's got to be attempting to get it.

Anyway we threw the game but would have got a result if we could defend set pieces so it's not too bad. Unfortunately King just isn't good enough to start a premier league game against decent opposition.

Benaloane shown up today too. I hope we can get big Wes back for Wednesday.

Have the Leicester strategy worked now ? i don't think so, instead of resting the players they ended up taking part of this bad match, now they must deal with the stress and the extra fatigue, bad mood too.

Everton were impressive in attack but looked vulnerable at the back and I think with our strongest team, we could have done them.

Very disappointed with the defending though. Benny was incredibly poor for the set plays and I guess we saw signs of why he hasn't been selected before.

King was Mr Invisible and Drinkwater continued his poor form. I think we need an upgrade on Drinky in the summer with him moving to back-up and perhaps King being moved on.

Amartey clearly not a RB, although I did think he got slightly better as the game went on. I think we have to start using him at a CB from now on.

I thought Gray was exciting again and has blistering pace with the ball. Timed his pass to Slimani perfectly. We lost the edge when he went off and Mahrez was very poor again.

Chilwell did ok. He is clearly a very good footballer and extremely comfortable on the ball, but he needs a lot of work on the defensive side, but that will come hopefully.

Slimani was OK. A very cool finish and held the ball up well. He is very frustrating for a big man who is good in the air though, as he can never seem to win a flick on and was and not much use defending in our own box.

Musa did nothing much of note and Ulloa had more of an impact but should have scored with that header.

Overall, it was always going to be a struggle with 5 changes and a loss isn't the end of the world BUT I was disappointed with the defending, especially from Benny.

Did anyone find it strange how Musa was used as our long throw expert but turned out to be quite possibly the worst throw taker of all time?

Second worst. He took over from Amartey who looked frightened to throw the ball too far in cas it got travel sick.

I just can't abide by forfeiting games. With Simpson and Ndidi in we win that match.

Benny and King were appalling. Really, really shocking.

Mahrez was worse than Musa when he came on. Gray and Albrighton need to start on Wednesday.

So disappointing to see us get beat by a team we are clearly better than if we play our best 11.

And no, I don't the selections today give us a better chance of getting a result on Wednesday. Not in the slightest.

Barkley is shit btw. No idea where the hype is coming from.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeh

Struggling to be that upset. We were always going to lose playing a CB/CM at RB and playing Andy King.

Was a great first half though. 2 in 2 for Slimani and his goal was very well taken.

With two weakened defences it was always going to be an open game with plenty of goals, a result like this was to be expected. Was hoping our defence would be a little better though; however yet again shambolic defending especially from set pieces cost us, Benny & Huth were very poor today. Midfield was crap too but that was to be expected with Everton having an extra man in there, plus King isn't capable of doing what Ndidi does.

Not the end of the world, back to our strongest against Atletico and fingers crossed we can get a decent enough result.

Benny seemed very off the pace today, potentially start amartey at CB at Madrid?

And would maybe like to see this rumour of us signing Silva come to light, would be a fan of him and Ndidi

Agree with you bar mahrez. Thought he looked busy and stuck a few quality crosses in.

We gave away 2 corners and Benny can't man mark like at all....

Let's not forget that Everton are a quality team. They deserved their win.

We have abandoned the midfield and it was clear that the defense would crack at some point. Benny had mare today but I can't remember seeing the back four under so much pressure since Ranieri's days.

Drinkwater shouldn't have been there today. He offered nothing and looks knackered.

Not saying out first eleven would have won that but it would have been closer.

Just highlights how awful our recruitment has been in terms of who we've bought and where we haven't.

Dropping our first choice full backs and our combative and best midfielder left our central defence horribly exposed.

I'm not panicking about Wednesday as I expect the 'team' to be back.

First things first, never play Drinkwater and King together from the start ever again.

I wish we'd just not start either, ever.

totally agree. Everyone has picked up recently but Drinky continues to be poor, so I would like to see a top CM come in drop Drinky to the bench for next season, as we know he can come in and do a job, better than King.
