MC Prussian Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Great piece, especially if you're trying to think of how Fuchs would read it with an Austrian accent. What I like is that it helps re-emphasize that sort of siege mentality, portraying us as the underdog, the unknown entity. But still... Quote Nothing changed. We just went out and played with no fear, and the game went our way. That's a bit oversimplified and somewhat contradictory, because something did change (again). For the better. We didn't look fearless at all for large parts under Ranieri. More like headless chickens. Now... Next stop: Vicente Calderón on Wednesday.
sdb Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Love that. We have a great squad in terms of work rate and dedication but this guy tops them all.
Spudulike Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Shame (but understandable) that he had to doubt us. We, as fans, also had to take the social media stick being dished out by other clubs fans and 'experts'. I've never known another time when we and the players have been so together. Be in no doubt, Christian, we are with you.

What I really like about Fuchs is that he's smart, intelligent, funny and humble - not qualities you'd always associate with a professional footballer. I know he's probably destined for the MLS at some stage and I'll be genuinely gutted when he does eventually leave us. And very articulate. He sums up the spirit of the squad.
Bossman Blessed It Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Through good times and the bad, we'll always back the lads.........
ian_marshall Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Surely the tifo for the home game against Atletico has to be a blue background with the words 'Why not?' in white. If the aggregate score is tight I'm certain that it would give the team the impetus and belief that they can progress to the Semi's.

HybridFox Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I'm not gonna lie, I've had one eye on that Champions League final date all season. Been keeping that weekend of June 3rd free. Yes we have one of the best sides in Europe in Atletico to come through, with even bigger fish to fry beyond that. But I don't know why, there's just that belief it's hard to explain. Really great to read the players feel the same way. The fact that we're the underdogs just makes it that much more exciting. Who's to say we can't do it? Like Fuchs said, why not?
UPinCarolina Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I mean, *someone* has to win the CL, and we *could* be that someone... ...so yeah Fuchs, why not the Leicester boys? "We keep dreaming."
Sand cats Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I didn't know Fuch talks like that, he is very educated and also has a good sence of humour, happy for him because it's rare to see a footballer so bright and intelligent, i enjoyed reading all the article, the squad are lucky to have Fuch between them, very influential.
KingsX Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Love the Players' Trib to death. There is not much in there that doesn't concern US athletes and teams to recommend to you all, but the common thread is giving the athletes the chance to let us know what they're thinking and feeling outside the usual media static. -- i.e. to regain some control of the narrative. I am occasionally amazed by what I read there, compared to the motives the journos attribute to the players. Not at all surprised by Christian's words though! How could you ever truly doubt the hearts-of-hearts beating in the stalwarts of this team? The articles are partly ghostwritten (or rewritten) by staff but there has never been reason to doubt that they represent the players' true voices. The fact that LCFC pops up on the site every few months (even Claudio, no doubt in one of the more heavily ghosted pieces ) shows that something has stirred just a bit in the wider world's consciousness. If and when Fuchs (and that other Christian at Dortmund) move to MLS, even you (and I) will have to start watching our crap professional soccer. Or I can dream on!

Hawk17 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Fuchs is a hell of a talented writer considering thats not his first language. Thanks for posting that, really enjoyed it.
StriderHiryu Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 What an absolutely incredible read! All that is missing is a Rocky Balboa esque motivational soundtrack behind it to get you pumped. Fuchs always comes across as very intelligent, very humble but also someone that can poke fun at himself. It would be great if someone like that could be involved with the club once his playing career is over as you get the impression his man-management skills would be top class. Coming to think about it I could see quite a few of the current squad (Morgan, Huth, Kasper, Fuchs) being involved in some capacity when they can no longer play. Having experienced pros around never hurt Manchester United, so it could be a good thing for us. Anyway back to the read, it made me proud of our fans. I couldn't make that game, but to everyone that was there on that night versus Liverpool, you did a great job.
Livid Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Re that Liverpool game, I think quite a few of us weren't overjoyed with what had happened with Claudio and I still think the players have to shoulder a portion of the blame, but what were we going to do ? They represent Leicester City, we all want the best for Leicester City, you just had to get behind them. I cringed at those Arsenal fans at Palace last night singing you're not fit to wear the shirt.
FoxonMaui Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Simply the best and most passionate explanation of what makes this team and its bond with our fan base so incredible. Take a bow Christian. It's the reason why so many of us are here in Madrid right now!! We proved it last season and why not again here in the CL.
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Reading that makes me realise how lucky I am to be a Leicester City fan, How lucky I am to have a group of players in my club who are strongly driven, passionate - articulate even! Christian you are beyond just a football player for Leicester, you are a man who people can look up to for the right reasons, i find this all very inspiring. I remember thinking after the O'Neill era that football in general was probably heading a way which would see the passion slowly leak away from the game - and this proved true for some clubs sadly, the Aston Villas right now, the Coventrys etc the fact we are here now reading things like that shows we've done very well in bringing together the right characters - **** I guess I have to thank Pearson for that again as well as that was a mark of his leadership Christian - if you and the boys read this, don't worry we're always behind you guys, we're not daft like the pundits, we got your back as we know you got ours. The thing I like about this incarnation of Leicester City is how many times after losses i've still been pretty happy (perhaps exclude this season but that wasn't anger more concern - arsenal away last year is a good example of being proud despite a defeat) - and its because of reasons like that why we are all successful as a group of players, as coaches, as fans Compare us to Arsenal now

Great player and also intelligent and funny. It will be sad when he eventually leaves us.
waylander Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 A rare and beautiful thing this nice timing tooo ? Dilly ding dilly dong
Webbo Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 we've had a few decent left backs, Fuchs, Kamaark, Colin Gibson, Whitworth and Sims (I think those last 2 were LBs iIrc) We've not really had many memorable RBs. Other than Simpson, can anyone think of any?
