I'm glad we can watch it from afar. Swansea and West Brom will be unsettling a few teams as they've been really active in the transfer market and got some decent results between them in the last couple of weeks. I'd love to see Newcastle, West Ham and if it's not asking too much Everton to drop.
MC Prussian Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 Tottenham sign PSG's Lucas and Watford get Deulofeu on loan from Barcelona.

It will go to Sterling now for sure who to be fair has also been great.

Huddersfield and Newcastle are really going to struggle with what they have up top. Great signing for West Brom, a great finisher and im sure he will want to prove he still has what it takes to be on the plane to Russia.

Granted its not what WE are used to, or many other clubs. But i do see the logic. Managers are a disposable quantity these days. So rather than the manager setting a long term vision on a huge contract, the football hierrarchy and owners set the objectives and the manager comes in and coaches the players. As a head coach. Although there isnt stability in the sense of one guy being there forever, they do have the stability of a successful philosophy. They had a manager lined up straight away after losing Silva which is great continuity planning, unlike a club like Everton who sacked a manager and literally no idea who to appoint before resorting to Allardyce. As long as a manager is happy to come in and work with a recruitment team bringing in players, i think its a neat model to follow. I think they've generally got it right with managers. Mazzarri was poor but the others weren't. I rated Flores and I still think Silva is decent, albeit someone who is probably going to fall on his sword as he's supposed to have previous for trying to leave a club too early. Was going brilliantly for him at Watford originally but the Everton thing clearly destroyed the hierarchy. They've got some pretty good players but I think they lack real character. The way they slump is absolutely ridiculous. They were in freefall last year and I fear that the rot has set in and that they could well drop this year given how tight it is. Look at that clip of the fans and Holebas at the weekend. They're not a healthy club at the minute.

Look at that clip of the fans and Holebas at the weekend. They're not a healthy club at the minute. I do think one thing every club needs is a "core" of 3 or 4 ideally players who have been at the club for a number of years, ideally players who "know" clubs, so when times get tough they are dependable and reliable. I think Watford do suffer from that, in a way we were for a little bit. Signing talented players in their own right but not having any blend to make a team. That is an issue. One thing they have got is the ability to score and thats crucial. Its where i see the likes of Newcastle and Huddersfield really struggling now. Youd have to think one, if not both of them will go down, but theres a lot of blame game going on at Newcastle too towards Mike Ashley and not all of it is warranted. It becomes an easy excuse for whats happening on the field far too much.
m4DD0gg Posted 30 January 2018 Posted 30 January 2018 Only 14 games left lets see how much of a contribution Sturridge makes. My bet is 'injured' after 2 games then have a strop.......but obviously go to the world cup in the summer.
AlloverthefloorYesNdidi Posted 30 January 2018 Posted 30 January 2018 Glad Sturridge will get to play football. Hope he can stay fit and get some form

They have actually attempted that this season. Hughes, Chabolah and Cleverley all joining. English talent and two with previous links to Watford. All three currently injured.

Check the popular vote at the bottom - Mahrez is near the 40% mark.
