Koke Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 How on earth does Deeney fetch more than £16m? WBA are mental for this.

Carl the Llama Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 A few years back it would have seemed a relative bargain but £16m is silly money for Deeney these days. Despite that though I can't see Watford letting go for less than a small fortune, after all they'd need to replace the man in the next couple of days and that's not happening for £16m... alternatively that's nowhere near enough money for them to justify weakening their squad for the remainder of the season until the money can be spent again in the summer.

ScouseFox Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 surely Watford fans are gonna be gutted if they sell deeney, he's literally the only person who I can name in their squad, the rest are just random dick heads. can't work out if I feel a bit sorry for them. their owners are random foreign dick heads, nobody has ever even heard of like 10 of their last 15 managers (all of whom have been in charge in the past year or two) and not even Watford fans know most of their players. but then they did get promoted and are still in the prem instead of being rubbish in the championship. 1 1
sk3since03 Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 See West Ham are linked with every registered professional footballer in the world again What a shite boring club to support! Hope they go down and stay down 1
MC Prussian Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 Sturridge preferring West Brom over Newcastle. If he goes there, Deeney will probably have to stay put.

Poch hoovered up by Real Madrid as new manager. Poch swoops in to recruit seagull face. Spurs move into their new stadium minus the best manager they have had in decades and their talisman striker. You forgot to add that after a poor start to the season pulis is then desperately parachuted in during December because 'he's never been relegated', and signs an army of defenders, only to take them down. On the last day of the season their revered tunnel restaurant is shut after angry punters shatter the glass with a bombardment of stale bread rolls. Edited 29 January 2018 by Vlad the Fox

I was saying at the game the other week that I felt sorry for their fans. Perfect example of a club that has nothing familiar about it, nothing to actually like. I think it just goes to reinforce how lucky we've been to have a set of owners and a series of managers who recognise the value of having players at the club for long periods and stability (if / when possible) with managers. We have loads of recent history and we all have affinities with our players - we love OUR Vardy and OUR Albrighton and OUR Shinji, etc. etc. Who is there to love at Watford? Deeney... and that's it, probably. Sad, really. I'd struggle to support a team with nothing consistent nor likeable about it. 1

This might be a bit controversial, but i think their model for running a club is quite smart and makes sense. Granted its not what WE are used to, or many other clubs. But i do see the logic. Managers are a disposable quantity these days. So rather than the manager setting a long term vision on a huge contract, the football hierrarchy and owners set the objectives and the manager comes in and coaches the players. As a head coach. Although there isnt stability in the sense of one guy being there forever, they do have the stability of a successful philosophy. They had a manager lined up straight away after losing Silva which is great continuity planning, unlike a club like Everton who sacked a manager and literally no idea who to appoint before resorting to Allardyce. As long as a manager is happy to come in and work with a recruitment team bringing in players, i think its a neat model to follow. 1
Vacamion Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 Man City's Sane now out for an extended period after the dirty tackle yesterday. Fair play to Man City, their best players have proper been kicked around the field this season, and that's just by Dele Alli...
Super_horns Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 I know this lad was at Everton so been in England before but he must be pretty keen for some 1st team football to join us! https://www.fcbarcelona.com/football/first-team/news/2017-2018/agreement-with-watford-for-deulofeu-loan-move Shame he couldn't bring some of his mates along - we need all the help we can get TBH. Might be a decent player for us but we also need a defender and striker.

Super_horns Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 Probably no less dangerous than Gray! Its true we'd miss Deeney even if he hasn't been at his very best and is a connection between the fans and club. Certainly think now we have a few too many players who aren't really that bothered about the club but guess that is the Premier league for you - you sign more mercenary players. . Doesn't help when half the ones we might identify with more like Chalobah/Hughes and Cleverley are inured! And even Gomes now.

Not just in terms of this season, but in terms of the next few seasons as they are the top level club that is in the biggest amount of decline right now. I kind of hope they flop because it will open the door for us. Our game against them at home this season will be very interesting, it's the closest we have been to them since the title winning season, when we still couldn't beat them! I suppose the good thing is that it doesn't really solve their key issues of being susceptible at the back and not really being able to replace Carzola as their midfield playmaker. My first thought was that Wenger has finally realised what he needs to do, the right kind of players, but then I remember they've been here before when they got Sanchez and Ozil and never followed it up. With one down and one to go, hopefully it's pretty much as you were and by the time they are playing at their best they will have run down their contracts and be in line for £20m+ signing on fees when arsenal get **** all. 420Hashish Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 West Brom have just signed Sturridge from Liverpool on loan. Relegation battles intensifying down there.

Big shame because Sane was probably a shoe-in for young player of the year. Hope he makes the world cup, as someone with that talent deserves to be there.

It might not be my preference compared to what we have, but before the Thais came along and delivered heaven, but after 10 years plus of utter shite, I'd have swapped my left arm to do what they've managed. It's certainly not boring, and when.one hero drops off (vydra) another one comes along from nowhere (richarlison) Some good managers hidden in there as well (flores and silva (pre tapping up)) not mazarri. Tuna Posted 29 January 2018 Posted 29 January 2018 If West Brom can keep Sturridge fit, it's a brilliant signing and a huge coup. Huddersfield and Newcastle are really going to struggle with what they have up top. 1
