Arsenal away next in the prem

Recommended Posts

Arsenal are on a high but we've been rested and will be eager to prove what we couldn't against Athletico.

Unsure if it's the right match but I really want him to make a success of the wing backs formation.

He'dthen have achieved something Ranieri could not: a successful plan b, something especially exciting if a fit Slimani could feature in it prominently.

So Hoping we come away with the 3 points on Wednesday and let's hope we can show the fight and desire against Atletico but with more of luck in the scoring front,we go at them I'm thinking of a 3-0 win for us give them too much time on the ball and we could lose this one !!

So hoping for a Leicester Win to carry us forward for the last 5 games and finish as high as we can !!

Stat time

  • Leicester are on a 20 game winless run against Arsenal in the Premier League (D7 L13), with their only win against the Gunners coming in their first ever Premier League encounter in November 1994 (2-1 victory).
  • Arsenal have won each of their last nine Premier League home encounters with Leicester City; the longest current run in the division.
  • In fact, if the Gunners beat the Foxes, it will equal their longest home winning streak against a single club (10 successive wins against Everton between Jan 1997 – Sept 2005).
  • Theo Walcott has found the net in three of his four Premier League appearances against Leicester, including in both home games.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored Leicester City’s last three goals against Arsenal in the Premier League, scoring the opening goal twice. However, he is yet to end up on the winning side.
  • Vardy has scored seven goals in 10 competitive games for Leicester under Craig Shakespeare, this after netting seven goals in 32 games in 2016-17 under Claudio Ranieri for the Foxes.
  • Alexis Sánchez has now scored 19 Premier League goals this season; equalling his best-ever tally in a single league season (19 with Barcelona in 2013-14).
  • Should Sánchez score another Premier League goal this season, he’ll be the fifth Arsenal player to score 20+ goals in a PL campaign after Thierry Henry (5 times), Ian Wright (2 times), Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. Robin van Persie was the last to do this (30 goals in 2011-12).
  • The Gunners will be looking to win back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time in over three months (Jan 22nd 2017), following their 2-1 win at Middlesbrough in their previous game.
  • Leicester City have scored at least two goals in every one of their seven Premier League matches under Craig Shakespeare (17 goals in total). Their previous 17 Premier League goals came over a period of 20 matches.

And under Pearson he scored 1 goal in  the first 29 games of  the

2014/15 season.

Arsenal tired and complacent due to thinking they are back to being the "best team". Perfect.

Tired, yes, but I wouldn't bet on complacency. Their victory against City is a huge morale boost after the dreadful least weeks. Hopefully we won't be at the receiving end of a rediscovered fighting spirit.

Tough game awaiting.

Albrighton - Drinky - Ndidi - Chilwell

Start 442 with the normal starting XI. Switch to this at HT (Chilwell on for Simpson) if it's not working. Maybe Slim, Ulloa, or King on for Okazaki too.

Yep - I agree with that and I'd put Slim on for Okazaki in that formation too.

Merson.

Things can change very quickly in football. After Sunday's win, Arsene Wenger is now manager of the year, isn't he? Credit where credit's due though because that was a massive confidence-restoring win for Arsenal and Arsene. The goal they let in was U10s defending but they came back against a good Manchester City team. It was a big, big football result for Arsenal and for the manager, and it will propel them to a win over Leicester.

PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1

Mersons been on the spliff again.

Good point. Sell him for £5mil I reckon. That's if anyone will stump up that much.

Not sure 352/343 will work with our defenders. It works for Chelsea cos they have quick mobile defenders. We got old slow CBs who are uncomfortable with being dragged out wide.

Nothing he's said there is unreasonable.

This doesn't look as hopeful as it once did I don't think. Arsenal will have a boost from both yesterday (although could be fatigued) and the fact Liverpool lost, opening up a chance for them to make the top four.

I still think despite this we can get a point. These have robbed us a few times since we've come up.

I haven't wanted Leicester to win a game as much since when they played the second leg of the Athletico Madrid Champions League Quarter Final....oh...hang on....that was only last week?

Yes, just to sock it to Wenger, he's been far too disparaging of us for a while now, enough's enough.

As for the team, default really.

Benny in for Morgan.

Focus on Okazaki really, he needs a good game sometime soon.

Should win this one, very very confident.

Their appealing, cajoling and constant whinging to the officlals all but guarantees them some advantage, especially at home.

One-one's the best we can expect providing Was' is nowhere near the place and we come up with Champions :League style commitment.
