So they bid about £30m for Lamar, get the knock back and then bid the same amount for Mahrez, who they know they won't get for that. Surely Lamar is their first choice if they went in for him first? Will they go back for him with a higher offer, or pursue Mahrez? Arsenal's transfer policy is a joke- everyone knows they've got ridiculous money from the big stadium & most expensive ticket prices in the world, large fanbase and merchandise sales, the biggest TV deal ever, spending years having a lower wage structure than the rest of the big clubs... You're fooling nobody Mr Wenger, everyone knows you're loaded and you won't be getting your targets on the cheap. Learn your lessons and pay the asking prices, you prat. Have Arsenal got any 'approach'? All I thought they did was make an embarrassingly low offer for players then moan cos no-one wants to join them? And then have a jizz fest when they qualify for the Champs league or cry when they don't.

However, I've got every confidence in the owners and would guess they would tell Arsehole to ****off. The owners got fleeced for Kante last year, can't see them wanting it to happen again. They will stand firm.
OllieLodge96 Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 Find it crazy how people can say they will be glad to see Mahrez go.... He's one of the most gifted players to ever play for us

Top quality players shine even if a team is not doing well. Even when he had the ball this season he could not do what he did with it last season. What sets him apart from real quality players is his attitude. Like a sulky child for most of the season and blaming the rest of the team for his own shortcomings. He like the rest of the team got sussed and he above all was easy for other teams to snuff out , put two or three on him and he hadn't a clue what to do.

fuchsntf Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 So far...Mahrez hasnt been approached. All major transfer wires, taps and believable gossip areas are still quiet on all fronts. A small article in the Alaskan/Arsenal News of the World, is sort of..no news

Some of the stupid comments about Mahrez are a minority - anyone with an ounce of football sense knows that we may never see the like again in a City shirt. The owner are adamant that they will not let him go cheap so there is plenty of water to go under this bridge yet!! Personally hope he changes his mind or could be persuaded to stay - I would be trying to show him we intend to match his ambitions!!!

They want him for £35m No one knows anything not the press even less the Algerian press (le buteur) not the fans not his cousin or his aunt. Wanger would splash big if he knew he could get him. Your owner is doing everything to keep him and he wont go cheap. What we are sûre of is that there are a lot of tractation behind the scenes for a few major player (mbappe moratta ...) and nothing has been done for everyone. They might end up all in china for astronomical amount of money... Footballer career is short
Wymsey Posted 29 June 2017 Posted 29 June 2017 Even if he stays despite his reluctance, Mahrez will still probably be first-choice largely - and it would potentially mean, if this situation occurs, he would be shooting himself in the foot. Can see him being very frustrated now in only one club in Arsenal having a publically firm interest in him.

Despite what few donkeys here might think he stayed by loyalty and respect for club the owner and the Don... I really don't think he is going to be a Leicester player next season.

Without a doubt in my mind I can say say honestly that he's the best most talented player I've seen play for my beloved blues. At his best, he is amongst the best in Europe. The issues with us 'fans' is (and always will be) is attitude and performance. If one of theses things dip, we can except it as the other will compensate If a players form plummets and they look disinterested, disheartened and apathetic APART from the glamorous prestigious games such as the ECL or top end premiership ties, then not only is it obvious that his heart is not in it but also that the ship has sailed its course. I don't feel anything but immense gratitude and a very slight tinge of disappointment at Riyad. The latter only coming from the apparent 'come and get me plea'. The irony of it for me is, the probability of us already receiving a bid for him would of been higher if he had of kept his mouth shut and interested parties assumed he was happy where he was... Anyway end of the day Riyads on his way so what d'ya say come what may. sorry, had a beer
