Think it's a little harsh to credit Mahrez's spectacular season purely to Kante. We all know how important N'Golo was to the team but Vardy and Mahrez were immense too. A lot of the chances that fell to Mahrez and Vardy were a result of Kante winning the ball but they still had a lot to do most of the time. As much as we criticise him for last season we have to appreciate just how brilliant he was during the title win

Another example to strengthen that theory would be Drinkwater 15/16 compared to Drinkwater 16/17?..

Ever since he's been here Can't deny Kante allowed our other players to excel
AlloverthefloorYesNdidi Posted 1 July 2017 Posted 1 July 2017 Drinkwater was our best player at the start of last season. When everyone else was struggling he was the reliable one. Then had a dip in form and confidence, maybe due to a couple of things. Kante did make the team a lot better, but its more the lack of balance that upset things rather than the loss of an individual

He had gone from doing half the work (with Kante) to twice the work. He got knackered I think.
Nickfosse Posted 1 July 2017 Posted 1 July 2017 I thought Drinkwater played excellently up to his injury against Porto. I don't think he was ever 100% fit after that.

sk3since03 Posted 1 July 2017 Posted 1 July 2017 Got to the point now where i'm not bothered where he ends up! The "fiercely ambitious" but "is preapared to join Arsenal" crap is what has bugged me the most. Whether those quotes were from Riyad himself or his agent, i'm not sure but it's annoying! Especially after the lacklusture performances of last season! I think it's just the fact it's Arsenal who seemingly is his preferred destination. Who are the most unambituous club in this country at the moment imo

What makes Ndidi stand out more is that he's more accurate and a threat in his shooting.

Kante is a freak of nature, N'didi will have a fine career, but he'll never match Kante of the last couple of years from what I've seen.

I know he's high on the tackling stats but Kante wins the ball and keeps it. Wilf is still a bit timid in some tackles. No doubting he has the potential to be a world class player but N'Golo is a unique player

The_77 Posted 1 July 2017 Posted 1 July 2017 It was... but the brilliance of Kante allowed our team to play the way we did. Kanté was the best in the league last year but we weren't so terrible when he wasn't in the lineup.

Who are the most unambituous club in this country at the moment imo Arsenal is the Barcelona feeder team though, so if that's where he wants to ultimately end up. The most frustrating thing with the situation is we and Mahrez are being played. He's not Arsenal's first choice by the looks of it, leaving things largely in limbo. That may be to our benefit in the long run, but as you say it does tire fans minds on such matters.

Bloody hope so...Selfishly I wouldn't want to see Riyad lining up against us any time soon ! They've just sign Gerard from Everton.
