We rested on our laurels and decided to reward the players that won us the league. Moral and probably fair but not the right way to go about cementing a place in the top 6 year in year out.

Needs more than that and the defensive duties need such a great positional mindset. time will tell though if he ever does play that role

You are correct - its not even really the clubs money any more - this is all generated by the tv deal, so the clubs aren't really getting poorer by blowing £100m on a couple of players... Not right or wrong, just is
