ronnup Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 He's worth more than 50 million to them. They can book themselves a place in the championship without him. Hey won't budge and he doesn't seem to want to come here. Hope there's another option.

The question is dammed if they do dammed if they don't. I say spend and Europe is on the agenda again It's not just a case of snapping our fingers and him signing though. He's not coming.

Robin JD Popley Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 If that is the case though, why on earth not report it until now? I do hope they sort this out as he could really be the missing piece in the jigsaw we've sorely needed. Probably since Muzzy left - it's been that long since we have had that type of player.

st albans fox Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 there is only one way this ends well for us and that's if everton wont meet Swansea's fee demand and the player is so pissed off with Swansea that his relationship breaks down with them completely. the former is possible but the latter probably not from what i've read about him and the club.

Corky Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 Walk away from this one now, £40 million was inflated even in this market, try elsewhere for a similar and probably cheaper option.

That's if we are flashing wads of cash whilst I kind of agree, it doesn't need a £40m bid for Sigurdsson to send notices or warnings out to other clubs that we have shit-ton of money to spend. We have multi-billionaires for owners We won the Premier League We have lots of Champions League prize money Every PL club received a shit load of money and has done for the past few seasons. If clubs don't realise we have money then they're pretty stupid

If clubs don't realise we have money then they're pretty stupid I agree, probably the only real way this could bite us in the arse is if we don't get him and try and sign another CAM. If we went for Boudebouz for example, the fact that we bid £40 million for Siggy could lead to Montpellier increasing their asking price as it shows we're fairly desperate for players in that position.
Wymsey Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 Unless we or Everton, although I doubt both will, make the offer that matches their valuation of him - he'll be more than likely to stay put. Sigurdsson is like the strongest gold in a dark mine for Swansea imo.

Teams are already self-interested actors seeking to maximize profits. If we are the highest bid on a player, but a team tries to extract a deep pockets premium, we will go buy elsewhere and they lose money selling to second highest bidder. There are many, many alternative places to buy players. If a team mucks you about, you publicly cancel the deal as a consequence and the team gets less money elsewhere, the next team thinks twice about being unreasonable. I think we have done two shrewd bits of business so far, getting Maguire and Iborra at reasonable prices in this market. I think our front office is doing well so far.

If we were then you would probably be right, but most of it sems to the usual social media BS echo chamber. The club are usually pretty good at keeping a lid on things, but cant do anything about a 15 year old pretending to be a sports journalist from their bedroom
