I'd think so.
Ian Nacho Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 I swear I read somewhere that Everton got a £32m bid accepted, so why on earth would we get a higher bid rejected?

Wymsey Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 This thread and the Iheanacho one are exactly why I struggle to trust certain 'in the know' people/media accounts etc. So many different "facts" from many who claim they have information on these speculations, it's often difficult to tell whether they're reliable or not..

We're not beating the Prem winning season anyway. Go out in style and be remembered.
Jimbo Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 40-50 million these days is what 12-17 million would have brought 5 years ago, and probably what 3-5 million would have got you 20 years ago. Yeah it seems a lot but that's just the premier league for you these days. Everyone knows that everyone else has the money and that they can hold other clubs to ransom. In terms of his "playing value" he's probably worth no more than 15-20 million, in terms of his value to Swansea then 50 million is what they want. We really do have to get used to the fact that the arrogance of English football means that money in football means nothing

Some would say 15 years was a long time ago. I really think we need to make the most of our current situation, speculate to accumulate. We nearly blew it last season by making the wrong signings. There are many other clubs that would love to be in our position.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 Money aside, is Gylfi even that good? Takes a decent set piece and scores a few from outside the box, tidy passer...what else? Probably get ripped apart for this but I could take him or leave him honestly. Not just better value but actually better players out there.

Then everyone's screaming blue murder at Rudkin for spending the money irresponsibly.

FoxinNotts Posted 10 July 2017 Posted 10 July 2017 He doesn't want to come here. We're effectively, just being used as a tool to hike up his cost to Everton. They will probably end up paying about £38m for him. We need to get someone else in for our no10 role.
