Gylfi Sigurdsson

It's surreal that years ago we signed players for low tens of thousands and now were putting in bids of £40m plus for Gylfi, things are looking seriously on the up for us !!

£82.5m total package over 5 years... that's an insane commitment for a team our size. That's essentially all the champions league money and all the money we made winning the league on one Swansea player.

Do you not think perhaps the club have been a little put off by the last two or three imports from crap European leagues that haven't quite faired as well?? So perhaps want someone proven?

possibly but spending £50mil on  Sigurdsson would be pretty silly imo in the grand scheme of it; if we could have got him for under £30 mil then id  have been pleased but £50mil......he isnt worth that and imo i dont think hes worth £40mil either

and tbh im not sure if he'd fit our style of play

Does anyone actually think we should pay £50m for Sigurdsson and are being unreasonable in holding out for the same money for Mahrez?

Way too much now, would've taken him at 35m but not now.

He's worth 50mil because he would suit our team and we are crying out for a player like him . He's worth it for the top 7 Europa league finish we could aim for . The TV money for staying in the prem would cover it. Get it done.

It's crazy money, but the new TV deal means that the Premier League is awash with money. If you don't pay these prices, someone else will.

Personally if we move on after having a 40M bid turned down I have no problem. No one can say we didn't try in this case.

If we got a £40m bid for Mahrez he'd be gone.

Probably true, would frustrate me in a world where Swansea are demanding 50m for a player that flopped at Spurs

No team our size is going to pay that money, not many teams our size spend £30m let alone £50m and £125k a week. Unless the owners have suddenly decided to pump their own money in again (in which case it wouldn't really matter) we are still going to have to act like the size of club we are.

This year the prices to buy from or sell to a Premier league club are insane, because of all of the TV money that has flooded in. Every team in the league is cash rich, so don't have to sell if they don't want to. That's why Swansea want £50m for Gilfi and we want £50m for Marhez. They are both under contract, proven Premier league attackers, and neither club really wants to sell or needs the money, plus they know every other club in the league is also swimming in cash. The financial bar has been significantly raised and even prices from 1 or 2 years ago are no longer relevant. Man city just sold a player that never broke into the first team squad to Celtic for £4.5m.

Ultimately it's only really the players and the agents that are getting the cash, it's not like with the extra TV money they have reduced ticket prices :-\

Ideally, we need Llorente to Chelsea to happen.

£30m, a ready made replacement in Ulloa and a few mill in add ons should be enough to get this done.

Good business all round.

Apart from Chelsea, who will have Llorente lol

Slimani + 20m would be good business.
