weller54 Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 Rudders gone in strong at £17m.. Probably about 9m short!
ithuriel Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 I heard Rudders got a little, confused and rang them asking for £17,000,000

Dan Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 £25mil for a Championship defender (I'm talking from a finance perspective) who has a year left on his contract would be terrible business by us. I'm happy with us signing him if it's true but that's absolutely terrible negotiation on our part. Should be nearer half that. Pickford is a different comparison as he had more time left on his deal (granted he also got relegated), Hull risk losing him for nothing in a year's time.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 Haven't seen enough of him to really be able to cast judgement but he's the right side of 30 and seemed to get a fair bit of praise so it all seems promising. Still think we need another centre half, though. We should really be looking to phase Huth and Morgan out of the first team this season.
les-tah Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 How much stick would Rudkin get if we did actually bid.. but only after a fee was agreed with another team

Plenty of us were getting carried away when we signed one of the best CBs in the league for what was then a big fee. He had family links in Leicester too. Everything was there for him to go on and be a City legend but it couldn't have gone any worse Think his time here pretty much destroyed his career. Big Nige did well to flog him for a fee. The big sign there was Reading fans all saying he was rubbish.

That Reading forum was almost unanimous in saying he was rubbish! Wes had been in the team of the year about three years on the trot as well.
Babylon Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 Mail saying £16.5m.... a few more papers and it will be £12m
Babylon Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 1 minute ago, pmcla26 said: Possibly looking like a deal that may start at £12 million then rise to around £17 million if these are the two numbers that are being mentioned as the transfer fee £12m not mentioned... more a comment on how it started off at £22m and keeps going down every time a paper says we've bid.

I'm sure we can all cope with a week to announce a centre back from hull city .... ? Yes you're right. If he's a player we want to sign it should not really matter if it takes another week as long as we complete the signing and the deal is acceptable to us as a club. But can also understand the impatience on here as some of our incoming transfers do appear to take an eternity to complete. It wouldn't be a total surprise to me if this signing is still not completed this time next week and is still being debated on here! Tick tock, tick tock!
Winsum Posted 13 June 2017 Posted 13 June 2017 Very average player, lacking in mobility , big clubs have kept away. Paying way over the odds £7.5million at best

Solid defender who can also play out from the back, not lightening quick but more than good enough to do a job for us for a few seasons. I've watched him a lot and he's good player. Who the hell is worth 7.5m these days.
